Press V. That will show up nameplates over every single monster. Nameplates that glow red or orange are targetting you. Nameplates that do not glow or glow yellow are not targetting you. Learn to target monsters with nameplates. Clicking on monster ingame models is lame. Using these, you can easilly learn to find out which monster is not targetting yourself, and taunt it accordingly.
It takes quite a while to master, and might be one of the harder things about tanking. There are some addons that are making this simpler, but i do not use those, and they are absolutely not necessary.

Oh, that sounds like a great addon. However, one question: does it have a setting where it automatically switches from tanking to DPS when you switch specs? I tank and catDPS and I just know I'd forget to switch it over and do the complete wrong thing, lol!

In addition to the above, i find that tanking mobs away from the ranged dps and healer helps, so that if one of them pulls, i usually see the mob running away from my pack and taunt/charge them.
Also, I use Pitbull, so i can see when a party member grabs aggro and also have it set up so that i can see what they're targeting, which is usually the mob that they aggro.

It's really great. I love how it does the opposite thing for DPS that it does for tanks. I can't imagine playing without that mod now that I have it.

the healer (and other ranged) should be moving out of the corner once the mobs have run in anyway. Which brings you back to the situation as DrDrako outlined
You'd think that would be logical but I find that MY healer is nearly the only one I've ever seen that doesn't just stand IN the shadowfury, the frost trap and the flamestrike. Go figure.
