Mercenaries
Mercenaries can only be hired to fight alongside the player during solo play.
Another Mercenary can be chosen for the Reinforcements mechanic, which summons a Mercenary temporarily when the player uses a specific ability. Reinforcements can be used both in solo and group play.
The Mercenary that fights alongside you cannot be the same as the one chosen as your Reinforcement.
The developers noticed during testing that having the Mercenary be as powerful as the player didn't feel right, so they instead focused on their ability to buff the player.
Subo, the Bounty Hunter Mercenary, increases the player's resource and reduces cooldowns.
Raheir, the Shieldbearer Mercenary, provides the player with Armor and Resistance buffs.
Players can hire the Mercenaries at the Mercenary Den which does not cost any gold.
If the Mercenary falls in battle, players will temporarily lose the perks provided by the Mercenary. They will regenerate after about 45 seconds by themselves. This process can be sped up by clicking on them.
Mercenaries do not count as Minions/Companions.
You can still earn Rapport for the Mercenaries by completing events in the open world while in a party.
Dark Citadel
The Dark Citadel becomes accessible after reaching Torment 1, which is gated behind completing Tier 15 or 20 in The Pit.
Players looking for a challenge can enter the Dark Citadel at higher Torment difficulty levels to earn better rewards.
Increasing the difficulty does not change the mechanics in the Dark Citadel. It will e.g. increase the monster's damage output and defenses.
Each time you finish a wing in the Dark Citadel it saves your progress which means you can leave and do other activities.
There is going to be a vendor in the Dark Citadel.
Kurast Undercity
Kurast Undercity unlocks at around character Level 15 or 20 and can be accessed both solo and in a group.
The Undercity is a timed dungeon experience where killing certain monsters will earn you time to keep going.
Applying a Tribute before entering the Undercity can scale the difficulty and the rewards earned.
Miscellaneous
Blizzard is adding two more character slots for everyone with Vessel of Hatred.
Players are getting an additional inventory tab to help with inventory space and management. It is unknown which items go in the new inventory tab.
There is currently nothing to announce regarding new clan features.
New cosmetics for your character can be earned through the Mercenary system, the campaign, and the Dark Citadel.
13 unique Cat mounts (Jaguars, Panthers, Lions, Tigers) can be acquired in Vessel of Hatred.
Nightmare Dungeons are now available for leveling. They can be entered starting at character Level 1.
There are no plans to add a vendor for the Tormented Bosses. However, it is not outside the realm of possibilities.
Rob's interview gives us a ton of new information we've never heard before, with great clarifications on some of the more confusing aspects of Mercenaries, such as whether Reinforcements can be the same as your active Mercenary. While lighter on information regarding the Dark Citadel and the Kurast Undercity endgame content, Rob's questions still provided quite a bit of clarity for players - particularly in terms of revealing that the Dark Citadel is locked behind Torment 1, the newest difficulty level to be introduced in Diablo 4 with Vessel of Hatred.

The Dark Citadel, Kurast Undercity, and Mercenaries will only be available for players who purchase the expansion.
Vessel of Hatred will not launch with cosmetics for the Mercenaries. The developers have thought about adding cosmetics for the Mercenaries and think it would be very interesting.
85% of Diablo 4 players are playing solo. The developers noticed that the number of players who like to group up increases slowly over time, especially after opening up the game to the Xbox Game Pass. Many younger players don't know a world without playing together. Blizzard expects the number of group players to increase steadily.
Each of the currently existing classes will get a new Active Skill and multiple new Passives in their Skill Trees with the launch of the expansion.
When talking about potential other sources of Paragon Glyph experience, besides Nightmare Dungeons, the developers mentioned that they've taken a look at all the activities and the rewards attached to them. More information will be revealed during the upcoming Campfire Chat livestream.
The upcoming PTR for Patch 2.0 will focus on the progression changes and the changes to the existing classes. The progression changes will feel as foundational as the itemization changes introduced with Season 4.
No changes are coming to the leaderboard system going into the expansion, but Blizzard acknowledges that leaderboards are a hot topic. Aislyn added "As the game continues to evolve, we are getting into a better spot where there are different activities that can serve as a razor to judge your build against other builds. Leading into Vessel of Hatred with new activities that are coming out and these progression reworks we'll be inching closer to a world where it makes a lot of sense to see those kinds of features."
The developers hope that they will get into a spot where they can share a roadmap with the community to show what they are working on.
Nothing to announce regarding additional stash tabs.
There are currently no plans to change how players interact with Strongholds. Blizzard mentions that the philosophy of making all of the game's activities relevant for as long as possible is definitely on their minds.
Kurast Undercity is designed as a mid to late-game activity to be replayed to focus on a particular thing players want in their journey. Blizzard has received feedback asking for a system that allows players to control the challenges and rewards that they are going to get. The Undercity is designed to continue expanding upon that, with Tributes giving players control over potential risk and reward.
Blizzard is going to continue updating old systems to modernize them, similar to what they did with Helltide.
The developers are looking for more feedback to revisit PvP and understand what players want.
The biggest bit of information to break with Annacake's interview is that The Dark Citadel, Kurast Undercity, and Mercenaries will not be available to players who haven't purchased the expansion. Blizzard has previously stated that their intention is not to prevent players from playing without purchasing Vessel of Hatred, but these key endgame features being locked will prove an interesting experiment on how far that policy will go. The great news, however, is that they aren't planning on letting old systems lie - modernizations will continue throughout the development of Diablo 4, which all players will certainly benefit from.
