Unique Class Mechanics in Diablo IV - Necromancer, Rogue, Sorcerer

While every class and build in Diablo IV has something that makes them unique - be it flashy spells, shapeshifting abilities, or the ability to specialize in weapons the more you use them - there's something that further separates each class from the others. Diablo IV introduces Class Mechanics to the franchise, allowing players to enhance their characters even more than by just putting points into a skill tree.
These thematic abilities lie at the core of what makes a class unique. The element wielding Sorcerers, for example, can take a spell and fine-tune it into something even more powerful with their Enchantment mechanic, fitting right in with the thought of a scholarly, wise mage.

While some Class Mechanics aren't available during the Open Beta Weekend, we haven't forgotten about them. Barbarians and Druids sadly cannot take full advantage of their Class Mechanics, since the quests they need to unlock the experience begin in different zones. That being said, we've gathered information on the three that are - Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorcerer - and what little we know about Druid and Barbarian below!
Diablo IV Necromancer Class Mechanic - Book of the Dead
With the Necromancer's focus on summoning, it makes sense that the Book of the Dead Class Mechanic is all about customization. What type of magic should your Skeletal Mages use? How should your rank - and - file Skeletons approach combat? What are your golems made of? All important questions - but the most important of all is yet to come. Should you sacrifice your summons entirely for powerful passive bonuses? The Book of the Dead lets you choose all of the above!

Diablo IV Rogue Class Mechanic - Specializations
Rogues are all about flexibility, and the Specializations Class Mechanic showcases that. Only two of the three are available during Open Beta, but Combo Points and Inner Sight are on full display, and they're great! Allowing you to swap between any Specialization on the fly, even in the middle of combat, is one of the unique advantages Rogues have with their Class Mechanic - one second you could be gaining combo points to unleash a devastating attack, the next you could have unlimited energy from Inner Sight as you mow down a massive pack of demons.

Diablo IV Sorcerer Class Mechanic - Enchantment
Quite possibly one of the most customizable Class Mechanics, Sorcerers can take any skill and Enchant it, allowing it to unlock new and powerful bonuses. Every skill has its own unique twist, such as automatically casting at certain damage thresholds, increasing debuff damage, or summoning your own personal blizzard every few seconds - the possibilities are endless!

Diablo IV Barbarian Class Mechanic - Arsenal
While the vast majority of the Arsenal for Barbarians is locked during the Open Access Beta, weapon expertise is available and showcases a bit how the mechanic will work.
A two-part system, Barbarians can use their Arsenal to assign specific weapons to specific skills - and gain experience with those weapon types to become even deadlier with them. Using a sword, for instance, will begin building experience with that weapon class, and over time Barbarians will attain mastery over weapon types to devastating effect, giving bonuses to their attacks. We can't wait until Diablo IV launches so we can see the Arsenal in all its glory!
Diablo IV Druid Class Mechanic - Spirit Boons

, Druids will unfortunately have to wait until they can travel to Scosglen during Diablo IV's official launch to see their Class Mechanic in action.
We know that Druids will be able to bond with Spirit Animals, each providing different bonuses. Over time, as you unlock more and more Spirit Animals, Druids will be able to have multiple boons from these animals at once - a powerful bonus we're excited to see!
