This Diablo 4 guide is to describe and outline all of the interactions of Crowd Control for you, and your enemies. This details Crowd Control and Crowd Control mitigation.
Below are some other guides you may find helpful. Status Buffs and Debuffs explains other effects such as Barriers, Chilled and Frozen, Fortify, Overpower, and Unstoppable, among others.

What is Crowd Control?
Crowd Control or "CC" are debuffs applied to you or your opponent(s) that reduce the target's mobility. All forms of Crowd Control apply the Damage "to/with/from/while" damage (or Damage reduction) effects. Many things are impacted by Crowd Control, from items to aspects to Paragon Nodes. All forms of Crowd Control apply to the Damage "to/with/while/from" Crowd Control however, not all Crowd Control apply to each other. In this guide, we will refer to this effect as "Any Crowd Control".
For example, and its modifier, , apply both a slow and a stun. Thus this ability applies to all three: Stunned, slowed, AND crowd-controlled enemies!
Here are a couple of sources of Crowd Control's effects from items.
Item Affixes
Using the previous example with Corpse Tendril, this sword would apply 86.6% increased additive damage when Corpse Tendril stuns enemies! However, if we do not wait for Corpse Tendrils to stun the enemies, we remove the 35.3% increased damage and only do 51.3% increased damage.
Gems
Gems apply to Crowd Control as well!

Effect
EffectExplained
While slotted into a weapon you do +#% increased Damage to Crowd Controlled Enemies.
td]
This Gem applies the "Any Crowd Controlled" effect to your additive damage multiplier. This gem functions just like the affix in the weapon above.
]
While slotted into Any armor, gain +#% Damage Reduction while Control Impaired.
This Gem when slotted into the armor slots gives +#% damage reduction to any CC on you! This is more "effective" Health than rubies when you are Crowd Controlled.
Crowd Control Types and Effects
Below are all of the Crowd Control Types and Effects in the game. All of these effects interact directly with your gameplay, damage, and damage mitigation effects! Use these spells and effects to enhance your play style to the fullest.

Effect Explained
Chill
]
Chills targets and slowing them, repeatedly chilling a target will freeze them.
Chill functions like an intermediary Crowd Control, where you slow, "chill", and eventually freeze a target. This means that you can apply three different Crowd Controls to a target and stack the benefits from them.
Daze
]
Daze prevents the target from attacking for a period of time.
Daze is similar to Stun. However, you can move while Dazed; you just aren't able to attack.
Fear
]
Compels the target to run away from the source.
This Crowd Control operates the opposite of Taunt. Where taunt wants to force attacks to a location, this CC wants to force targets to run away.
Freeze
]
Prevents the target from moving or attacking, if killed while Frozen, it will shatter.
Freeze functions just like Stun, but is not a stun Crowd Control type. It also does NOT leave behind a corpse when you shatter enemies.
Immobilize
]
Prevents movement of any kind.
Immobilize restricts movement completely, however, you can still attack. The most common source of this CC are Spiders.
Knock Back
]
Knock Back pushes the target back some distance.
Knock Backs push the recipients away from the source. This CC is most commonly found in the Nightmare Sigil affix "Nudging Evade" and within some class abilities.
Knock Down
]
Knocks down you or your enemies, preventing movement or attack. This is similar to Stun, but does NOT count as a Stun and does not move the target in any way.
Knock Backs are fairly rare CC, only available to a select few classes or monsters that have access to this effect, such as Rogues and Druids.
Slow
Reduces the target's movement speed by #%.
td]
Slow allows you or your enemies to reduce the target's movement speed by a percentage amount.
Stagger (Bosses only)
Bosses are un-Crowd Controllable; instead, repeated attempts to control a boss will inflict "Stagger", stunning the boss for some time.
This effect is how we can stun bosses, but is not counted as a stun CC type. Repeated attempts to control the boss will build up a bar underneath the Health Bar of the boss. Once filled up, the boss will be Staggered. The bar then changes from gold to blue and begins receding back to the middle. Once the bar has reached the center, the boss will regain control.
Stun
]
Prevents the target from moving, attacking, or most skills.
Stuns prevent all types of movement or attacks. There are some spells that can break Crowd Control.
Tether
]
Tether is a Crowd Control that prevents the target from walking out of a radius around a central point.
This Crowd Control is fairly rare. This occasionally shows up against bosses/monsters that summon totems.
Taunt
]
Redirects damage to the source of the Taunt.
Taunt is a special Crowd Control that manipulates the target to attack the source of the taunt, effectively preventing or forcing damage. The main sources of Taunt are the Barbarian's and the Necromancer's .
