Trampleslide Druid Overview in Diablo 4
The Trampleslide Druid uses massive Landslides to crush their enemies, poison for surprise damage, Storm Skills for Vulnerability, and Trample to move quickly in and out of their foes. This is primarily an Earth Caster build with a little bear action to add that special something. Early on, this should more correctly be termed a Landslide Build, as the iconic Trampleslide relies on a dropped aspect that may not drop for awhile.
Landslides, Wolves, and a well-timed Petrify to take out the boss
By weaving together various skills and Aspects, the Trampleslide Druid specializes in slowing, stunning, immobilizing, and Knocking Back enemies.

Strengths and Weaknesses for Trampleslide Druid
Trampleslide Druid is not an easy leveling build and will differ in several key respects to endgame play. Trampleslide at endgame is a very complex build that plays off a web of interactions between Earth and Storm skills with the key passive , as well as adding in Poison for surprise killing fun. It also is much more centered on passives than active skills, requiring a lot of rare dropped Legendary items to come into its full flower. It also relies on several dropped Legendary Aspects that can be difficult to obtain.
You certainly
can
level with a Landslide build, but it has significant fall-off periods where, lacking the right Aspects, it's just going to feel clunky and difficult to control. You can wipe out trash with incredible ease early on with , but this advantage drops off quickly by the time you're heading out of your teens. It also struggles with survivability until you can build up Fortify mechanics, as well as add some crucial Uniques after you can enter Tier 3. Until you can get the crucial Aspects for this build (and just being totally honest here), it's not a lot of fun to play in early levels. It's a blast in endgame, but it's a rough leveler.
For this reason, we strongly recommend going with a Pulverize Werebear leveling build
until you get your , several key passives, and required dropped Legendary Aspects -- most critically and . You'll be using some of the same skills with both, but you'll be able to level more quickly with a more satisfying leveling experience overall.
Pulverize Werebear Leveling Build
Strengths
Weaknesses
This is a common rotation for the Trampleslide Druid. The goal is to alternate between Storm and Earth skills to help them play off one another, as well as to apply Immobilize/Slow/Stun mechanics whenever possible.
It's really more of a series of use cases instead of a true "rotation", since what you do will depend a lot on the circumstances.
- Rush in where angels fear to tread -- very, very quickly.
- Use to build Spirit and apply both Immobilizes and Vulnerable.
- Try to position Landslides to hit multiple mobs when possible. Don't spam on double Landslides, as this risks Spirit waste.
- Use for defending yourself, building Fortify, and escaping Crowd Control effects.
- Direct Wolves to leap onto elites or distant casters/bone crossbows, particularly if they are Slowed, Immobilized, Stunned, or Knocked Back.
- Save for groups with Elites to tie up mobs while you take out stunned Elites with extra-damage synergies.
Druid Overview
Best Leveling Skills for Trampleslide Druid in Diablo 4
Players earn a total of 58 Skill Points through two methods:
48 points for levels 2-49.
You start at level 1 with no native Skill Point, and you transition from Skill Points to Paragon Points at level 50.
10 points from Zone Renown.
By earning 900 Renown points with each of the 5 zones, you earn 2 Skill Points per zone for a total of 10 points. These points are account-wide and will be available to all alts when earned on one character.

This part of the guide focuses on the core of the build -- those skills you need to take and develop most as you approach level 50.
Active Skills for Trampleslide Druid
This section includes the six Active skills you'll be using on your Skill Bar, in order of how they appear on the skill tree. Consult the tree for recommendations on which skills should be taken and when.
Storm Strike
(1/5)
Basic
Modifiers:
There are three reasons you're using instead of Earth Spike.
Storm Strike hits more targets (although you have to do this within close range) and applies Damage Reduction to you for 3 seconds.
It has a chance to Immobilize enemies with , and much of your extra damage plays off having crowd-controlled enemies.
It applies
Vulnerable
with , which makes your opponents take 20% more damage. Vulnerable is one of the best damage modifiers in the game that you can then go on to improve with gear affixes and Paragon. This becomes far less important once you have the aspect, when you'll have so many more sources, but it's still great for getting a fight going.
The only advantage has over is that it can be cast at a distance, but that's not much of an advantage since most enemies want to close with you anyway.
Landslide
(5/5)
Core
Modifiers:
Landslide is your main damage-dealing skill, which you'll later be enhancing with a dropped Legendary aspect, , which makes your Landslides hit twice. This is not so much an AoE ability as a Cleave, so the mechanics take a little getting used to as you level up. You can hit more than one mob with it, but it takes some positioning and timing. With , you'll also have yet another chance to Immobilize enemies, which plays off with extra Crit Strike with Terramotes.
Once you get , you may need to pay closer attention to what your Landslides are doing so you don't over-function. It's common to want to spam Landslides, but with the double hits, you don't have to do that nearly as much, particularly with trash mobs. The double-hit takes many of them out without you having to cast more.
Earthen Bulwark
(1/5)
Defensive
Modifiers:
This skill gives you a Barrier that not only protects your life, but also gives you an important Unstoppable mechanic and starts the process of gaining Fortify. While you won't benefit a great deal from Fortify at first, as you build this out, you'll be spending more and more time Fortified. This is not only a defensive mechanism -- it also contributes offensively to your Overpower damage, since Overpower damage calculates on your Life plus Fortify. It also serves an important function of cleaning off any Poison or other DoT effects.
The farmed Legendary aspect is a very important early aspect to get, and it can be farmed relatively early (level 15) at the Sealed Archives in Dry Steppes. Not only does it increase the duration of your Earthen Bulwark, but it also replenishes a portion of your lost Barrier when you kill with Earth Skills. Since Earth Skills are your bread and butter, you don't really need to invest a lot of extra points in Earthen Bulwark itself. By the time you end up in Endgame levels, you won't be using this Aspect anymore, since by the time you reach Tier 4, most mobs are going to blast through it before its normal duration is up anyway. However, it's a lifesaver at this stage.
Poison Creeper
(1/5)
Companion
Modifiers:
I'll admit it: I was a late convert to Poison Creeper, because I was thinking about it all wrong. I was thinking of it as a minion, and it's not: it's a poison DoT and damage enhancer with an animation -- and an incredible damage enhancer with the right passives.
The amount of Poison it applies is almost beside the point, although the ability to Immobilize everything around you is situationally helpful. With the passive, you and your companion will be doing 30% bonus Critical Strike damage against Poisoned enemies, and that's where the magic happens. Duration of poison becomes more important than amount, which is where comes into play.
The latest Season brings the is awesome here. Seasonal characters will be able to get it into their Codex for the duration of Season 1 by completing the first chapter of their Season Journey. Both Seasonal and Eternal characters can get this as a dropped Aspect. It adds Landslides to the other effects of the Poison Creeper, which is nice, but more importantly, all Earth Skills now give even more damage to Poisoned enemies.
Trample
(5/5)
Wrath
Trample turns you into a Werebear and allows you to rush forward, Knocking Back enemies. It also gives you yet another Unstoppable mechanic, which is great for escaping from vampiric tendrils, Stuns and Immobilizes, and anything that keeps you from getting where you need to go. provides yet another Fortify mechanic.
In leveling, we will be putting all 5 points into Trample for the damage, but in endgame, you'll want to take it back down to 1 point and use those 4 extra points in passives. The reason is that once you have all the parts of the true Trampleslide going, it's not Trample itself that deals the damage -- it's the Landslides it gets from and those interactions with . But until you get that Aspect, you'll want all points in Trample to improve its damage.
When you're indoors or near cliffs or other obstructions, try to aim Trample to Knock Back enemies into them. This Stuns enemies when you do it. It gets easier with practice.
and are key to making the Landslide Druid into a Trampleslide Druid. You may not get these until late -- mostly these don't seem to drop much before Nightmare -- but once you have them, they're amazing. redefines Trample as a Nature Magic and Earth skill as well as Werebear, meaning that it will benefit from all the Earth and Nature Magic passives you'll be picking up later, as well as creating interactions with . just doubles the fun, since now the Trample Landslides will also run two courses instead of one.
Petrify
Ultimate
Modifiers:
Petrify is counter-intuitive; it took awhile to appreciate what it can do. At first, it appears that it just freezes everything around you, but you can't possibly kill them all in the short window you have. Since it's an AoE stun, players tend to think of it as an AoE skill.
Here is the truth:
Petrify is an underestimated and powerful single-target Elite killer.
The best use for Petrify is in a case where you have anywhere from 1-3 Elites coming in, usually with a pack of chumps. Select your first target, set off Petrify, have your Wolves leap on its head, and then take it out quickly with all your bonuses and extra Crit Strike against Stunned targets (that includes the extra damage Wolves do vs. Stunned). The regular mobs are incapacitated while you go for the BigBads. You can often kill up multiple Elites before Petrify wears off. Once they're out of the way, just take out the wakening trash.
While Petrify doesn't Stun bosses, it does increase the Critical Strike damage against them -- and dumps a huge load of Stagger on them at the same time. Start out boss fights with a Petrify to jumpstart the Stagger counter, and you can get it Staggered for real in no time.
And just to make this even more fun, gives Petrify a 30% chance to create free strikes -- knocking enemies back and applying even more Vulnerable.
Passive Skills for Trampleslide Druid
This covers the Passive Skills you'll want for Trampleslide Druid, in order by how they appear on the tree. Consult the tree for recommendations on which skills should be taken and when.
Nature's Fury
Key Passive
Nature's Fury goes on top of the passives because this is the glue that binds this build together and makes it so amazing. You have a 30% chance to cast a free Lightning skill of the same node when you cast an Earth Skill there, and vice versa. You do not need to have any points into these freebies to cast them -- they do it on their own, with all their modifiers applying to the cast.
Just to review, these are what you get a 30% chance to do after casting any of these skills either directly or indirectly (for example, Landslides off Trample can also proc these effects). All of these effects also do significant amounts of added damage.
- chance to cast a free , which can Stun and add Fortify
- chance to cast a free , which can Immobilize, or , which can Slow and apply Vulnerable
- chance to cast a free , which can Knock Back and apply Vulnerable
when turned into an Earth skill with - chance to cast a free , which can Slow and apply Vulnerable -- not to mention the Landslides can proc the Core Storm abilities
- chance to cast a free , which applies Vulnerable
Put simply, with Nature's Fury and the right conditions, you can be surrounded by all kinds of free Lightning and Wind effects and a near-constant stream of applying Vulnerable to your targets.
Once you can get dropped , every time Nature's Fury triggers one of these free skills, you get incredible cooldown reductions on your non-Ultimate skills. This can set you up for the near-constant ability to Trample to your heart's content.
Heart of the Wild
(1/3)
Core
On its own, this passive is weak, which is why we invest so little in it. However, it's a prerequisite for the next passive, which is nearly indispensable for the Druid.
Abundance
(3/3)
Core
Abundance increases the amount of Spirit generated by your Basic skill. This is crucial because Druids have a constant issue with Spirit generation, and this makes a huge difference. It's also why you're going to look for and invest in things that give you additional Attack Speed, as the more you hit, the more Spirit you recover. The more Spirit, the more damage you can do. It's just that simple.
You'll be de-investing this later, but you need it for leveling.
Wild Impulses
(3/3)
Core
Given that Druids already have issues with Spirit, why sacrifice more? It's a small amount for a big gain. By this time in your build, you'll hardly notice the difference.
Neurotoxin
(1/3)
Wrath
Slowing Poisoned mobs is nice, but this is mostly taken for the prerequisite. It does give you some advantage since your Earth Skills will do more damage against Slowed targets, but mostly things won't stay alive long enough for this to make much of a difference.
Envenom
(3/3)
Wrath
This is where the magic happens, and why you want your Poison Creeper by your side. You and your Creeper do a huge amount of extra Bonus Critical Strike against Poisoned enemies. This is a game-changing damage multiplier.
Crushing Earth
(3/3)
Wrath
This passive makes all your Earth skills do even more damage vs. Slowed, Stunned, Immobilized, and Knocked Backed enemies. See the pattern?
Safeguard
(3/3)
Wrath
Critical Strikes with Earth skills give Fortify. You're going to be doing this a lot on this build, so use it to make yourself less squishy.
Defensive Posture
(3/3)
Ultimate
Defensive Posture increases your Fortify from all sources by a considerable amount. Since you get Fortify from multiple sources, this just means you'll spend even more time both protected and with extra ammunition for your next Overpower.
Thick Hide
(1/3)
Ultimate
While we have a large number of Unstoppable mechanics, Stuns, Immobilizes, and Knock Downs do happen. This helps us survive it a little better. Mostly it's a prerequisite for the next skill, .
Unrestrained
(3/3)
Ultimate
Better than surviving Crowd Control effects is having them drop off sooner. This reduces the duration of Crowd Control Effects, tripling this effect when your Fortify is over 50%. This is more of an endgame investment, but not a bad one to use in the meantime.
Defiance
(3/3)
Ultimate
This increases your Nature Damage skill vs. Elites, turning your Petrify into even more of an Elite-slaughtering machine. While only 1 point "fits" within the 48-point parameters, you'll be taking all 3 points (and if you can't, go get some Renown pronto).
Natural Disaster
(3/3)
Ultimate
This plays off several facts of this build - your Earth skills do more damage vs. Vulnerable, and your Storm skills do more damage vs. Stunned, Knocked Back, or Immobilized. The part you really care about is the extra Earth skill damage vs. Vulnerable, but we never say no to more damage for our one Storm Skill in the package.
Resonance
(3/3)
Ultimate
This passive really starts to play off the flip-flop aspect of this build, where you're using a Storm skill as Basic to fuel your Earth skills. You get more damage for using Nature Magic skills, but that damage gets tripled when an Earth skill follows a Storm Skill and vice versa. Get used to going back and forth between Storm Strike and Landslide even more than usual to super-power your Earth strikes!

Best Spirit Boons Choices for Trampleslide Druid
At level 15, Druids will get their Unique Class Mechanic to obtain Spirit Boons.
Our
Druid Skills Calculator
does allow you to see the four Spirit Animals - Deer, Eagle, Snake, and Wolf. Each offers one of five Spirit Boons. As you open each Spirit Boon, you can choose to open one buff from them; by opening all of these, you can earn the right to learn two Boons from one animal. These are five Boons we feel will be most beneficial to Trampleslide Druids are as follows:
Stag - Wariness - Take 10% reduced damage from Elites.
Eagle - Swooping Attacks - Gain 10% Attack Speed.
Snake - Calm Before the Storm - Lucky Hit: Nature Magic skills have up to a 10% chance to reduce the Cooldown of your Ultimate skill by 2 seconds.
Wolf - Calamity - Extend the duration of your Ultimate Skill by 25%.
When it comes time to invest in two skills from a single animal, the best choice is the following:
Wolf - Bolster - Fortify for 15% of your Maximum Life when you use a Defensive Skill.

Trampleslide Druid Best Leveling Gear for Diablo 4
Although you will depend on random drops for most of your gear, you will have a variety of choices available to you. You can also make informed decisions about whether an apparent upgrade is better for you based on other properties. You may even find yourself in a position of getting a build-defining Legendary Aspect drop -- for a build different from your own. In those cases, it may be worth considering changing builds as you level, since a respec is cheap at this stage.
Best Legendary Aspects from Dungeons
While you can't rely on getting a Legendary Aspect from a drop, you can find Legendaries in other ways. The good news is that there are Legendary Aspects you can acquire early on from dungeons, which are then transcribed into your Codex of Power. Aspects from the first three zones -- Fractured Peaks, Dry Steppes, and Scosglen -- can be farmed very early on.
Best Farmed Legendary Aspects
Sealed Archives, Dry Steppes
Stockades, Scosglen
Halls of the Damned, Kehjistan
Buried Halls, Dry Steppes
Feral's Den, Scosglen
Underrot, Scosglen
is a super important early Aspect for this build, though you will not be using it much beyond level 60 or so. By that point, mobs are going to be taking down your Earthen Bulwark so quickly it won't matter, so the extra duration/rebuilding power doesn't make any difference. Until then, though, this will keep you alive for the time it takes for your Fortify mechanics to kick in. Prioritize highly for leveling.
is an Aspect you'll continue using into endgame, as it gives you extra damage vs. Crowd Controlled enemies. Since that's pretty much everyone, it's a great damage booster.
is one of the very best defensive Aspects in the game for all classes, so you'll find it in almost every build. The farmed Aspect isn't the best version by far, but it's better than nothing until you get better drops.
The remaining three Aspects - , , and - are all easy to get and great for leveling, although these won't go on into endgame content.
Codex of Power Overview
Best Dropped Legendary Aspects
While we shouldn't have to rely on a dropped Aspect for a leveling build, these are some dropped Legendaries that are great for the build. You'll want to keep your eyes out for these.
If you need to move these Aspects onto another item, consider reserving Amulet and Ring slots for applying dropped Aspects since you aren't going to replace these pieces as often while leveling. An Aspect imprinted on an Amulet also adds 50% more to the variable power -- the numbers in blue on the Aspect description. Reserve the Amulet slot for a high-quality amulet, and for one that gives you a good power boost.
Unfortunately, the iconic Trampleslide aspects are all drops, and they seem rare. Always use an item that comes with it natively for as long as you can, and then Extract that aspect to put it on something else (preferably on Rings or your Amulet, since these are not replaced as often as other items.
is what makes the Trampleslide a Trampleslide, and doubles the fun. takes advantage of the flip-flop between your Earth and Storm skills -- more for enhancing your Earth skills than your Storm, since you don't do much damage from that.
makes the build sing. Every time you set off a free skill from Nature's Fury, your Cooldowns on non-Ultimate abilities reduces by a significant amount (depending on the roll, of course). This can turn into Trample after Trample after Trample, without those pesky cooldowns cramping your style.
Occultist Crafting Overview Legendary Aspects Guide Druid Legendary Aspects
Trampleslide Druid Best Weapon Choices
Weapons are important to all classes in Diablo 4, since all player damage output keys off weapon damage. Therefore, it's very important to keep your weapon updated, whether by replacement or by visiting the Blacksmith to upgrade your weapon. Beyond that, Weapons also have Inherent Physical Characteristics that are native to that weapon type, so there often is a "best" weapon for a particular build.
I strongly prefer to use both a one-handed weapon with a Totem. You can meet or exceed the amount of damage you do between the two items cumulatively, and you can use these for two Legendary Aspects instead of just one. As far as a one-handed weapon goes, Axe or Mace doesn't matter much.
Gear and Itemization Overview Blacksmith Guide
Trampleslide Druid Best Leveling Gems
Gems fit into gear sockets and add bonuses depending on whether they are in Armor, Weapons, or Jewelry. Starting at level 20, you'll be able to combine Gems to upgrade them to higher quality and higher bonuses.
Gems come in various qualities from Chipped to Royal. While the gem properties do not change, the traits improve with higher quality. Therefore, while we list only one quality of gem here for listing purposes, you should always socket the highest level gem you can get and equip at your level.
Weapon Gems
Extra crit strikes against Vulnerable is very handy for this build. Even at low levels, you get a lot of uptime with Storm Strike, and once you get Nature's Fury in with all those free Storm casts, pretty much everything will be Vulnerable.
Armor Gems
Fortify now keys off your Maximum Life, so get as much as you can to help your Fortify. Since Overpower also keys off your Fortified Life, the more you have, the harder you'll hit on Overpowers, which is a nice bonus.
Jewelry Gems
Until you hit WT3, don't worry much about Resistances. The lower-level Gems you use don't give you much, and you'll get better leverage using Skulls for the armor at this point in your career.
