I see dozens if not hundreds of comments a day that simply say "understand the market".... and personally that seems like completely useless information.

I currently play on Illidan (US/Horde), and this realm is famous for being one of the worst to make money on.

I do not use any trading / auction / crafting addons at all, and I am going to tell you how I make 100k daily with minimal effort. This information may not match your realm, but the general idea behind it is transferable.

The Undermine Journal is your best friend. Use it to your advantage. You can check historical prices, and check for patterns. For example, I noticed that for the last few weeks, Osmenite Ore was selling consistently around 22-24 gold each with a few high/low swings, but generally always going back to around 22-24. So I log in this morning, see that it dipped down to 18.81g /ea, and picked up 500k worth of ore (26,581 ore). Now we have to get rid of this ore, and still make a profit. Quickly after I bought out the low priced ore, it bounced back up to 23.57g /ea. I keep a few thousand on the AH at the lowest price (to avoid larger than needed repost fees), and refill it once it sells. In addition to this, I also spammed trade chat selling the ore bulk. I found a buyer willing to take most of my remaining stock for 20.15g/ea. In total, each ore netted me a profit of 1.6g /ea, which equates to a profit of around 42.5k gold.

BoE flipping profit is at an all time high. It's going to be rare that you flip a BoE for 500k+, but it does happen and i've managed to do that twice since 8.3. Most flipping profit will come in smaller margins. Example: Today there were a bunch of 460 rings on the AH, two of them listed for 70k, and the rest 99k+.... I picked up the 70k rings, and relisted and sold both within the hour for 99k gold. That's 24k per ring profit after AH cut. In my opinion, rings are best to flip as they're not class specific, they're cheap, and the stats (haste, crit) are desirable on most class specs.

In around 1-2 hours invested time, and not a lot of capital up front, i've turned a profit of 100k, and this is something that im able to do daily. I don't always do ore's, I always check The Undermine Journal for popular mats, and wait for the dip and buy big quantities, knowing that the mat will consolidate, as they always do (based on historical charts).

I hope this information helps you out more than the typical "understand the market" comment.

I as many others was worried that the AH revamp would kill flipping as we knew it. Turns out that wasn't the case! yay.

This profile includes almost every item in the game, sorted into groups based on DBRegionSoldPerDay. I realise this isn't a very accurate way of measuring how many sales we could expect, but it's nice to use as a reference when comparing items.

Quick answer? Raid mats. Though unfortunately they are taking a dive (at least on my server atm) since 8.3 is a bit stale and visions are becoming easier and easier.

Farming isn't just for the multis though (I solo gather, sitting on 16million), check prices on your server for zin'anthid + anchor weed. There are usually always anchor weed farming groups up in LFD all the time, makes getting a stack pretty easily (200 for 30k in less than an hour not bad) Zin is a little harder to find, but I'll ask in /1 if anyone is "herbing out here and wanna party up" to maximize yield. Joining a group with a multiboxers nullifies their impact on your farming.

Island expedition transmog is still selling pretty well, but that's not as dependable as gathering profs.

Do you just farm herbs and ore?

In short, no. Since a lot of my farming happened in Nazjatar, I would often break away to kill a rare that could drop a nice pet or kill things for the Rubbery Flanks. If you are the type to burnout easily with gathering, it may be worthwhile to try to incorporate some sort of grind for valuable items to break up the monotony. Also, occasionally completing world quests may give Mana Pearls so that I could buy a pet and then sell it. Just make sure you are having fun. There are a million different ways to make gold, so find a method that is most enjoyable for you and find a way to derive gold from that. However, just to be clear, I would estimate 80% of the gold came from herbs and ore.

Transmog Selling - 50 Times Every Dungeon

Transmog typically takes a long time to sell, be prepared to keep on relisting for a long time. Patience is key.

The value you see is not always the value you will get, so you can't really equate this to gold per hour.

Results can vary wildly, so mitigate with large stock, the flip side being that large stock can get unweildy to manage.

People often say "I made 5 million gold in 3 months" and when asked how much time they spent per day - they say "30 minutes a day of reposting".

Expulsom creation can be very time consuming and I was wondering - do people genuinely spend 30 minutes a day and make millions or is there more to it?

I log on each morning to re-list my auctions. Sometimes not at all, sometimes for just 10 minutes. If I'm lucky, I'll get up to half an hour to do a full re-list and possible restock.

A couple of evenings in the week I'll be able to play for an hour or two and do some proper restocks/bracer shuffles.

At the weekend I may get another 1-4 hours and then 3 hours stream time. That covers all my professions and a little bit of time to progress a character into new markets.

Once you get your systems in place, things take much less time.

One day every week or two, depending on my mats stockpile, I put wow up on my second monitor and make bracers and scrap/DE for enchanting mats while I work. (I work from home.)

On a normal day, I'll log into my AH toon, repost any auctions, run a vendor search (you'd be surprised what you find), and then check to see if there are any deals for the mats that I use in professions. I use operations that only return results when the mats are below the price threshold of what I'm willing to pay. If there are results, I buy it out, dump it in the bank. TSM operations make it so with a couple clicks, I'm done.

I check my professions. With crafting operations for my groups, I just click and my crafting panel is filled with what's profitable to make. I cycle through all of my toons doing that, making whatever I can if I already have the mats. Use a mailing operation to send it all back to my AH toon.

Back on the AH toon, I get whatever mats I need from the AH (TSM is very handy; the tasklist will tell you how much of what you need and even run an AH scan for you when you open the AH). Mail it out, post what I've gotten, cycle back through and craft the rest of the stuff I'm posting. Mailing operation to my AH toon, post the last of my items, do a last search for deals, and then I'm done. ETA: Most of the time, I already have a stockpile of the mats I'll need on hand so I can just craft and send without having to go back to my AH toon to buy mats. But there are times when something runs out.

Might sound like a lot, but it usually takes about half an hour. I like to maximize my time, so I usually read a book or listen to a podcast while my characters are crafting.

i have 2 accounts so most of the time spent on the bankers is time im doing dailies on my main

daily: i log onto 2 characters after work and spend 20min reposting about 300 crafted items; do shopping scans for cheap mats

every 48h or so: i log onto 1 character to repost my xmog stock, it takes about 1h to post 800 items

weekly: a crafting operation, usually about 200 items and restock on a bunch of things

I recently came back to the game after a year hiatus once I heard the longboi was going away, so my playstyle is somewhat driven by my goblin activities. I play on a single account, so I've been getting my profession toons to 120, working on rep where needed, etc. Most of my actual goblin routine boils down to:

Daily - Play, level, do WQ's, and have fun. Check for deals on mats with my bank/AH toon, and have them relist any expired auctions. I only cancel scan the "fast moving" items like food, potions, and enchants. If I get to sit down and play for a few hours at a time, then every 15 minutes or so, I'll do a cancel/report on these as needed

Weekly - Do a restock of anything I'm low on with my profession toons. I'll aim to either farm some Zin'anthid or look for a good deal on it on the AH for postions & flasks, craft up food, a few enchants, etc. I'll also see if there's any crafted mounts I need to reacquire mats for. If there's nothing else pressing, I may do a couple of transmog-farming runs for giggles and see if I can get anything else to throw up on the AH.
