Uther's Questline in Chains of Domination (Story Spoilers)

One of the questlines in Patch 9.1, Chains of Domination, revolves around Uther. We went through this questline and summarized it for you!
WARNING: Story spoilers below! Do not continue scrolling if you don't want to be spoiled!
The questline involving Uther starts at the seventh chapter of the Chains of Domination questline,
A New Path
. Once this chapter is started, Thenios, the Kyrian Paragon of Wisdom, approaches the Primus in Korthia. Aware of the creation of a new mourneblade, Thenios mentions that Uther, a former Forsworn who is now under his tutelage, was killed after being struck by another mourneblade - Frostmourne, his soul shattered in the process.
To learn how mourneblades work, we're sent to Torghast by Thenios, who asks us to visit a special vault that Bolvar had previously seen in his visions, a vault where the Jailer keeps souls he deems valuable. Armed with a new Attuned Shard, we visit Torghast and enter a short new wing, the Ossuary of the Banished. After going through the short 3-floor wing, we face the Guardian of Souls, who leaves behind a portal to the realm of souls he guards. This realm holds Uther's soul as the First Paladin, along many others, some with interesting names:
The Betrayed Father
The Blood-Queen
The Grand Magister
The Guardian of Naxxramas
The Archmagus Mentor
The Golden King
The Holy Lifebringer
Many Forgotten Victims
As interesting as many of these souls are, we are only able to leave the realm with one soul in our Soulkeeper, so we pick up Uther's shattered soul and return with it to Thenios at the Temple of Wisdom in Bastion. In Bastion, Thenios and Polemarch Adrestes talk about the current situation with the Kyrian: With the Archon's sigil previously stolen by Anduin, they cannot forge a new sigil, as they need all five Paragons to channel their power together to create one. They would have to take over the Temple of Loyalty and somehow raise someone to become the new Paragon of Loyalty.
But first, order must be restored to the Temple of Loyalty. When Thenios and Adrestes talk about ways to sway the Forsworn back to the Kyrian, Uther suggests attempting a way of compassion and understanding, as if he believes that if the rift between his shattered soul can be mended, so can the rift between the Kyrian and the Forsworn.
Thenios: The Forsworn's influence has cast doubt upon the prevailing wisdom of my temple. I will speak to my acolytes, but first we must restore order.
Thenios: Without a Paragon of Loyalty, we cannot form a new sigil.
Polemarch Adrestes: Many Forsworn yet occupy the temple. How are we to proceed?
Uther: Through compromise and understand. I may be of aid in that regard,
When Uther attempts to regain a connection with his shattered soul, however, it is discovered that a soul struck by Frostmourne has its memories tainted and darkened, and as such, Uther must relive these memories - The twisted versions of these memories - And set things right. With this, we embark in a journey through Uther's twisted memories and relive them with the Paladin.
Uther's first memory is shown to be seriously tainted - It is a memory of when the Order of the Silver Hand was created, with Uther being named one of the first Paladins. During Uther's indoctrination, his memories start shifting, with a very known memory surging to life... The purge of Stratholme.
Uther: This is... Alonsus Chapel, in Stratholme. The day I became the first of the paladins.
Archbishop Alonsus Faol: Come, Uther. Take your spot so that we may begin.
Archbishop Alonsus Faol: In the Light, we gather. In its grace, our brother will be born anew.
Archbishop Alonsus Faol: Uther, do you vow to uphold the tenets of the Holy Light?
Uther the Lightbringer: I do.

Polemarch Adrestes: What are these tenets?
Uther: The Three Virtues. Respect, tenacity... and then...
Kleia: And then?
Uther: Compassion. Seeing beyond our differences, understanding our similarities. Feeling for those who suffer, even if...
Uther: Oh, Arthas...
Pelagos: Wait... what is that? In the corner?
Arthas Menethil: This entire city must be purged.
Uther: How... how can you even consider that?
Kleia: His memories are twisting together. We must help him!
Pelagos: No, Kleia. He must face this on his own.

Arthas Menethil: Damn it, Uther! As your future king, I order you to purge this city!
Uther the Lightbringer: You are not my king yet, boy. Nor would I obey that command even if you were!
Arthas Menethil: Then I must consider this an act of treason.
Uther the Lightbringer: Treason? Have you lost your mind, Arthas?
Uther: These memories... they are not one and the same.
Archbishop Alonsus Faol: Do you vow to walk in the Light and spread its wisdom?
Polemarch Adrestes: Your grief and regret haunt you still. As does Arthas.
Archbishop Alonsus Faol: Do you vow to vanquish evil and protect the weak and innocent?
Uther the Lightbringer: I... I do.
With this first memory (or well, two memories) relived, we move on to Uther's second memory: The day Arthas became a Paladin, indoctrinated by Uther himself. After a quick spar with the memory of Arthas, Uther is distraught, thinking it is his fault Arthas was set on the path he went on.
Pelagos: We are here for you, Uther. Do not despair.
Uther: The Light... Arthas... What have I done?

Uther the Lightbringer: Feeling nervous, Arthas?
Uther: This is the day Arthas became a paladin. I remember it well...
Arthas Menethil: Honestly? Yes. I see your devotion to the Light and feel doubt cloud my heart.
Arthas Menethil: You've taught me so much, Uther... but I sometimes wonder if I'm truly meant to walk this path.
Uther the Lightbringer: Great expectations await you, lad. I have faith that you will exceed them all.
Uther the Lightbringer: But for now, let's spar. That should clear your mind.
Arthas Menethil: Hah. It always does.

Uther: No... I should have listened to him. Why didn't I listen?
Polemarch Adrestes: You sought to comfort a troubled student. None can fault you for such an act.
Uther: Tell that to all of the innocents he slaughtered. I set him on that path!
With this, we're confronted with the last of Uther's memories. As we arrive on that memory, we see a familiar place: Andorhal. It is time to relive Uther's death at the hands of Arthas. As Uther relives this memory yet again, he realizes that he spoke with Arthas in anger, and that he retained this memory as a way to serve as a reminder of lessons learned, and given the choice, he would never let these memories go, as to not forget the lessons from them. Just as Polemarch makes a realization, Fallen Disciple Nikolon - The same Nikolon that was previously swayed by Uther himself to join the Forsworn, arrives, wanting to talk with Thenios.
Pelagos: What is this place?
Kleia: This is the moment of your death, isn't it?
Uther: He came for the urn... the one that held the ashes of the father he slew.
Polemarch Adrestes: Why this memory, Uther? Why linger here?
Uther: In that moment... I failed him. I did not uphold the virtues. Compassion, least of all.
Uther: My heart had never been so cold. I faced him not as a mentor, or even a friend, but as a bitter foe.
Polemarch Adrestes: Perhaps. But confronting this memory has taught you the value of compassion more than any scripture ever could.
Polemarch Adrestes: Take that lesson to heart, Uther. The past may be immutable, but the future has yet to be written.
Uther: I will. Arthas... If only I had tried to save you...

Arthas Menethil: Face me, Uther, and I'll make sure you die quickly.
Uther the Lightbringer: I dearly hope there's a special place in hell waiting for you, Arthas.
Uther: No! I spoke in anger...
Arthas Menethil: We may never know, Uther. I intend to live forever.
Pelagos: Uther, if these memories pain you so, you can be rid of them in time.
Uther: No. They serve as a reminder of lessons learned. Given the choice, I would never let them go.
Polemarch Adrestes: If given the choice...
Fallen Disciple Nikolon: Adrestes. We must speak.
With the lesson learned from Uther's memories, Polemarch Adrestes agrees that for a new era of peace to enter Bastion, the Forsworn must be approached with compassion - And given a choice to retain his memories, instead of being forced to give them away. With Nikolon and Uther, we move to the Citadel of Loyalty, where we bring the Forsworn to our side. During this portion of the quest, a dialogue between Nikolon and Uther happens, with Uther apologizing to Nikolon for sending him to the wrong path - Although Nikolon believes that Uther merely helped him accept the truth.
Uther: Nikolon, I apologize for leading you off the path. Had I not, you might never have joined the Forsworn.
Fallen Disciple Nikolon: My faith in the Archon was already lost. You only helped me accept the truth.
Uther: Nevertheless, you suffered greatly because of my actions. I will not allow that to happen again.
As Forsworn are accepted into the ranks of the Kyrian, and anima is returned to the Citadel of Loyalty, Polemarch Adrestes channel through the temple to send a message of compassion to all Forsworn who wants to rejoin the ranks of the Kyrian. Where new indoctrinated Kyrian would have a choice to forsake their memories or not, and they would not be judged if they decided to keep them.
Polemarch Adrestes: My fellow Kyrian, I come to you with a message of compassion.
Polemarch Adrestes: Your plight has been heard, your suffering recognized. We ask not for your loyalty, but we offer a choice.
Polemarch Adrestes: None shall be forced to sacrifice their memories. Your decision will be respected by all Kyrian.
Polemarch Adrestes: Let us stand once more! Not out of loyalty, but devotion! A new path for Bastion begins!
With Adrestes ushering a new age for the Kyrian, we then return to Elysian Hold once more, where we witness a ceremony by the Archon. The cutscene is currently not ingame, but from datamining, we can determine that this ceremony will raise
Adrestes
as the new Paragon of the Kyrian - Not of Loyalty, but the Paragon of Devotion! Kalisthene is promoted to Polemarch of the Kyrian, with Uther's fate unknown after the cutscene - Although he can be seen talking to Pelagos at the end of the questline, with Pelagos showing curiosity for the fate of Arthas, and concluding that even him could be redeemed... If only we could find his soul.
Pelagos: Uther, parson my asking but... what fate befell Arthas in the end?
Uther: At the moment of his death, Devos and I claimed his soul... and cast it into the Maw.
Pelagos: Without the Arbiter's knowledge? So... he might yet have had a chance at redemption?
Uther: I will never know. It was not my choice to make. Devos led me down a dark path.
Pelagos: Now that I have seen the Maw for myself... I cannot say that any soul deserves such torment.
Pelagos: Perhaps some can never be forgiven... but you have shown me that they must be treated with compassion.
