Reaching Renown level 12 with the Valdrakken Accord unlocks the questline The Silver Purpose. In these quests, we help the Aspects retrieve a message from Keeper Tyr, and find out how we could help with his return!
The Gift of Silver
The questline begins with Alexstrasza showing Kalecgos - and us as well - a silver dragon scale, a gift left behind by Keeper Tyr. Once they bring the scale out, they realize that something has changed about it.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: This gift from Tyr is precious to us. A final remembrance of a treasured friend.
Nozdormu says: His deeds, and his courage, will never be forgotten.
Kalecgos says: You have told me stories of that time, but I have never seen the relic he gave you.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: We kept it in a place of honor here in Valdrakken.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: An ingot of pure silver, forged in the shape of a dragon scale.
Kalecgos says: Beautiful! Tell me, has it always pulsed with such potent magic?
Nozdormu says: No... something about it is different. The scale seems to have changed in our absence.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: Perhaps our return to the Dragon Isles has awakened it. Tyr was full of mysteries. This may be one last enigma for us to investigate.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: As an ally of dragonkind, <name>, we ask that you take the scale and investigate this matter on our behalf.
Naturally, Alexstrasza enlists us to investigate further, and sends Watcher Koranos with us to help.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: Tyrhold may have the answers we seek. Watcher Koranos knows those halls well. He can guide you on your journey.
Watcher Koranos says: As the Dragon Queen wishes. I shall meet you there, <name>.
Messages from Tyr
At Tyrhold, use the scale to discover several fragmented messages. The messages make reference to the Titans' war against the Old Gods, the creation of the Dragon Aspects and Odyn's opposition to their creation, Loken's treachery and betrayal, Yogg-Saron's corrupting influence on Ulduar, and Tyr's allies Archaedas and Ironaya - who he entrusted with important information such as the Discs of Norgannon.
Fragmented Data Entry says: For Order to be upheld--sent by the Pantheon to--push back--Void--
Fragmented Data Entry says: The dragons shall be--caretakers--for the future of Azeroth--
Fragmented Data Entry says: Odyn--refuses to see--Azeroth must take--
Fragmented Data Entry says: Loken's--must be punished--unforgivable--
Fragmented Data Entry says: Shadows rising in that--too great. Ulduar infested--by its own prisoner.
Fragmented Data Entry says: Archaedas-- Ironaya--all--I can trust.
Fragmented Data Entry says: The records--must be kept safe--must be preserved for when--
Finally, we are led by a Titan Spark to the place where the Dragon Aspects last saw Tyr. Alexstrasza hopes the memory of it may contain another clue, and we get to watch a vision of the final conversation between the Dragon Aspects and Keeper Tyr!
Nozdormu says: An old memory of a beloved friend. Let us hope it has wisdom to impart.
Keeper Tyr says: My friends. I am leaving on a journey. One that may... keep me away for some time. Before I depart, I have something I wish to leave in your care.
Keeper Tyr says: To symbolize our bond, I present you with this scale forged of purest silver.
Nozdormu says: A thoughtful gift, though its enchantments obscure my vision as to its true nature.
Keeper Tyr says: Perceptive as always, Timeless One. But do not be troubled. You know my fondness for mysteries.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: I suspect that this scale has a deeper meaning. That you are leaving it with us because your journey will place you in grave peril.
Ysera says: Tell us what danger lies ahead of you, Tyr. We would gladly face it at your side.
Keeper Tyr says: Where I go, you cannot follow. There is sacred knowledge that can only be safeguarded by myself and my fellow keepers.
Your place is here. You must prepare your flights for the great destiny that lies before them.
Ironaya motions to Tyr that it is time to leave.
Keeper Tyr says: I am sorry, my friends. I wish I had more time with you, but I must go.
Keeper Tyr says: Remember, the silver scale will reveal its value in a time of need. Be well.
After the vision, the Titan Spark reveals an archived hologram of Tyr with another message - or rather, a promise of a message - providing we can accomplish a series of tasks.
Keeper Tyr says: If you are seeing this message, it means a time of great need is at hand, but I am no longer among you. Take the silver scale to my forge in Tyrhold and more shall be revealed.
Tyr's Vessel
By following Tyr's directions, we end up activating the large forge in Tyrhold and produce a mechanical Tyr! Though... an empty vessel, for now.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: Remarkable! This body looks exactly like the Tyr we knew, though it is but an empty vessel. Bereft of the noble spirit that made him such a trusted friend.
Kalecgos says: Tyr must have known he was going to his doom, so he left behind the silver scale as a catalyst to restore his physical form.
Nozdormu says: A truth he keep hidden from my perceptions until a time when his wisdom would be needed.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: Tyr's allies hid a record of his memories in the depths of Uldaman. But before it could be recovered, agents of the Infinite dragonflight cast the disc into the timeways.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: We must locate the disc or find another way to restore Tyr. The future of our flights may depend upon it.
Watcher Koranos says: It will be done, Queen Alexstrasza. This I vow.
When we first entered the newly revamped Uldaman back in the pre-patch, it was to find the disc containing Tyr's memories in the hopes that it would provide the knowledge needed to restore the Aspects' powers. We failed, but now we see how the same disc could be used with this vessel to restore a version of Tyr himself, complete with all his memories.
A restored Tyr could be quite something - we'd love to see his interactions with Odyn, and with the newer Aspects who never knew him like Kalecgos and Merithra. But for now, the empty
Hüter Tyr
remains dormant in Tyrhold until we can find a way to restore him properly.
