Swear Allegiance to Wrathion or Sabellian in Dragonflight
24.08.2022 um 06:00
On the latest Dragonflight Alpha build, max-level content is available for testing, including Dragon Isles World Quests. One of these world quests continues the storyline of the two Black Dragons vying for leadership of the Black Dragonflight,
which started during the Waking Shores campaign!
Swearing Allegiance to One
After reaching level 70 and unlocking World Quests in the Dragon Isles, a new World Quest pops up in the Obsidian Throne in the Waking Shores,
Allegiance to One
, where you will need to swear allegiance to one of the two Black Dragons vying for the position of Leader of the Black Dragonflight, Wrathion or Sabellian.
As this is in World Quest format, it is assumed that you can change your allegiance at some point, likely a choice you will need to make again when the World Quest resets. On the Dragonflight Alpha build as of the time of this post, World Quests are stuck on a weekly timer, and this WQ in specific has no timer at all.
As you arrive and even as you talk to the two Dragons, they bring arguments and even bicker with each other, once again. Wrathion focuses his arguments on him taking the role of the Earth-Warden and serving as a protector of Azeroth, while Sabellian focuses on his years of experience and efforts in renewing the previously all-but-extinct Black Dragonflight.
Besides the first line of dialogue, the other lines are repeated and flung against one another until you pick a side to support.
Wrathion: My friend, our history together is illustrious. Surely you'll lend me your support here at the citadel?
Wrathion: Why do you only show your face now, after all the difficult work has been taken care of... by me?
Wrathion: While you tucked your tail in Outland, I united the warring factions of Azeroth against the Burning Legion's return!
Wrathion: Even in my youngest years, I worked to protect and safeguard this world... where were you hiding, Sabellian?
Wrathion: I am trusted and respected by all of Azeroth, they know that I look out for them... you, they fear.
Wrathion: When the last Old God threatened to end this world, I was there to stop it. Where were you?
Wrathion: Everything I have done, I have done for the future of this world--what have you accomplished?
Sabellian: I bring the future generation of a new, uncorrupted Black Dragonflight. Surely, you'll lend me your efforts to settle here on Azeroth.
Sabellian: I have the support of a full flight of dragons. Tell me, little one, where are the rest of your kin?
Sabellian: How do you expect to lead a Black Dragonflight that doesn't exist? I lead the next generation, and I have brought them here.
Sabellian: I have been battle tested and hardened from years of battle against Gruul and his offspring.
Sabellian: I do not need to claim this throne. It is mine! I am next in the line of succession. I do not even know your lineage.
Sabellian: Father entrusted me with the future of the Black Dragonflight. And I succeeded, by delivering the eggs I have so carefully protected.
Choosing a Side and Additional Dialogue
Once you choose a side, both Wrathion and Sabellian fly to the heat of the battle in the Obsidian Throne, and offer quests for reputation with them, with the side you chose granting you additional quests for more Reputation with them. As you are able to work both reputations at the same time, you do not lose your reputation with the other dragon. Your main way of obtaining reputation with either dragon is to collect keys from mobs in the Obsidian Citadel, and turn them in to the dragon of your choice.
After you pick either Sabellian or Wrathion, there are additional pieces of dialogue from allies of both sides, either cheering you on for picking them, or berating you for not picking them. Some of the dialogue further cements that the choice is not permanent and you should be able to change it at some point.
Wrathion: I knew you would choose me, <name>. I shall await your delivery of a key below!
Sabellian: Bring me a key as well, <name>. Together we shall restore the Black Dragonflight to glory.
Baskilan (Sabellian): We value you as an ally, <name>. Please reconsider your allegiance.
Myridian (Sabellian): I feel Wrathion needs your support, <name>. More than you need his.
Lorena Belle (Wrathion): Your friendship with the Black Prince will not go unrewarded.
Blacktalon Strategist (Wrathion): We are honored to have your support, <name>.
Blacktalon Strategist (Wrathion): <name>, the Black Prince always supports those who support him.
Yries Lightfingers (Wrathion): Always a deal for a friend of the Black Prince.
Sabellian: I do not ask for a key, <name>... but I accept your support in any way possible.
Wrathion: Nonsense! <name> and I have much history together, I am sure they will deliver that key to me!
Blacktalon Strategist (Wrathion): I am disappointed in your choice, <name>.
Blacktalon Strategist (Wrathion): We trained and fought together, <name>... why do you not support us now?
Yries Lightfingers (Wrathion): Fighting alongside Sabellian? I have what you need!
Baskilan (Sabellian): Your presence is most welcome here, <name>.
Myridian (Sabellian): It is good to see you here, <name>, supporting our efforts!
Evorian (Sabellian): Sabellian welcomes your efforts, champion.
Samia Inkling (Sabellian): Sabellian has not forgotten you, you are a true ally of our flight.
Both Wrathion and Sabellian act as part of the Valdrakken Accord faction and have reputation standings similar to that of Ve'nari in the Shadowlands. Although the in-game UI shows 9 reputation ranks, only 5 ranks actually show point requirements, with both Wrathion and Sabellian starting their reps at level 4.
Below we have a table with reputation names for Wrathion and Sabellian. You can see the difference in treatment even here, with Wrathion already regarding you highly from the get-go, and Sabellian, although he remembers the efforts in Outlands, is slow to take you into his good graces.
