Mythic+ K.U-J.O Tips and Tricks in Mechagon Workshop

Today, we are covering two tricks that players can use to massively simplify K.U-J.0, the second boss in Operation Mechagon: Workshop. One of the tips is being able to continue hitting the boss while hiding behind a box!
Tanks: Line of Sight Tricks
Every 30 seconds, K.U-J.0 casts
Flammen ablassen
. This forces the entire party behind one of the junk boxes dropped earlier in the fight in order to avoid getting roasted. This normally forces all players out of Line of Sight and renders them unable to damage K.U-J.0 directly for 10 seconds.
With a simple positioning trick, it is possible for a tank to position K.U-J.0 around the box while allowing the entire party to damage K.U-J.0 during

, while taking no damage from

This mechanic does not actually check line of sight. Instead, K.U-J.0 "projects" a buff (
Hinter Schrott verstecken
) as long as the
center of his hitbox
is not in line of sight. However, due to how enemy Line of Sight operates, if K.U.-J.0 is on one end of the long edge of the box, and you are at the corner, you will be out of Line of Sight of the center of his hitbox (and therefore be

) while having full uptime. The application of
Hinter Schrott verstecken
has a maximum range, and you can see this by how the priest in Alyrion's clip ends up dying despite being somewhat behind the box.
This takes a bit of practice to master, and we strongly recommend practising it in keys, as the time gain resulting from doing this is significant. Practice the following steps:
Immediately after the first junk box drops, and in later phases immediately after
Explosiver Sprung
, find the Junk Box that is not glowing and identify its long edge (the box is rectangular, not square)
Position yourself at one corner of this edge, with K.U-J.0 a few yards outside the box
Backpedal until K.U-J.0 is on the corner of the box, and you are on the other corner
You should now have
Hinter Schrott verstecken
while being able to hit K.U-J.0!

Explosiver Sprung
A few seconds after each Junk Box drops, K.U-J.0 will pick multiple targets for

. This marks all of them with a red icon, and a few seconds later, K.U-J.0 will leap on them, dealing very heavy damage to all players within 8 yards of each target, starting from the furthest target and working its way inwards.
Because the ordering of targets is deterministic, it is possible to cancel
Explosiver Sprung
. If the target of any
Explosiver Sprung
hop is untargetable or dead, K.U-J.0 stops leaping, deals no damage when landing, and stops targeting others.
Here are some abilities which can work:
Hunters:

(this is the most potent option but also the riskiest, as it requires the hunter to feign death ~0.75s before the leap lands but while K.U-J.0 is in the air)

The benefit of this is obvious: this gives your tank more time to position K.U-J.0 after the leap, reduces almost all of the damage taken by your party (the only remaining source of damage is the burst of damage that occurs when your healer dispels

), and lowers the risk of a leap target accidentally clipping a Box.
