Dungeon Tips and Tricks from Mythic Dungeon International Cup #1

The first Mythic Dungeon International Cup took place this weekend. During these dungeons, some interesting tips and tricks were used by the teams and we wanted to highlight a couple strategies that you may be able to use in your own dungeon runs.

Shadowmeld
The Night Elf racial
Schattenmimik
is a very powerful tool in Mythic+ dungeons, as it allows players to completely drop combat with any mobs that they are in combat with. While it's unlikely for a full Night Elf group on live servers, this is another possible method of skipping mobs, other than
Verhüllender Nebel
and
Unsichtbarkeitstrank
s.

Shrine of the Storm Elemental Skip
The Elemental miniboss has a massive amount of health and puts out incredible damage for only a very small amount of trash count towards the dungeon. Thus, all groups in the MDI decide to skip it.
The Tank (ex. Prot Warrior), pulls the
Wächterelementar
to the front of the bridge, while the rest of the group runs past.
The Tank then quickly runs forward (ex.
Heldenhafter Sprung
) and joins the rest of the group in
Schattenmimik
.
If the Elemental is too close when the group tries to
Schattenmimik
, it will fail as the
Wächterelementar
has True Sight.
The MDI teams also time a Reaping Wave with this
Schattenmimik
, allowing them to skip most of this wave. You can see Abrakeydabra (left screen) complete this skip below.
Reaping Skip
As stated above,
Schattenmimik
also will drop combat with Reaping. Certain Reaping mobs also have True Sight, but there are cases when players have traveled a large distance away from the Reaping spawn, allowing them to
Schattenmimik
and avoid a Reaping wave.
In the below clip, you can see Method NA (right screen) skip an entire Reaping wave by all using
Schattenmimik
after the Tentacles die. They are out of range of all previous mobs they've killed so they don't aggro any Reaping and skip the wave.
Atal'Dazar - Dodging Merciless Assault
Gnadenloser Ansturm
is a deadly ability in Atal'dazar, especially on high keys and/or with the Fortified affix. It's a very fast cast, deals very high physical damage and is it very difficult to dodge. However, there is a way to use the terrain to your advantage to avoid the mechanic entirely.
The key is that
Gnadenloser Ansturm
only targets
players at ranged
, meaning that if all members of your group stand in melee except for 1 person,
Gnadenloser Ansturm
will always be cast on them. However, if the target of
Gnadenloser Ansturm
is on an elevated surface, the
Moloch der Dazar'ai
cannot find a path to charge to the target, and the cast fails. You can see the two elevated positions where you can perform this trick below by Method NA (left screen).
Freehold - Cannon Barrage Friendly Fire
Harlan der Schmierige
's
Kanonensperrfeuer
actually deals Friendly Fire damage to all other creatures in the instance (other than
Harlan der Schmierige
himself). This includes Harlan's summoned add
Grenadier der Eisenfluträuber
, all the trash surrounding Harlan and Reaping waves!
Before 60%, a single
Kanonensperrfeuer
won't do much damage but
Harlan der Schmierige
will apply
Gezinkte Würfel: Alle Mann!
at 60% which provides 4 sets of
Kanonensperrfeuer
s, one debuff on each of the DPS and on the healer. When these 4 debuffs are stacked together, they will destroy anything under them. If you time your Trash pulls with the
Kanonensperrfeuer
, you'll be able to obliterate trash and Reaping waves similar to Fourty K (right screen) in the clip below.
The MOTHERLODE!! - 2 Pillar Mogul Razdunk
During
Mogul Ratztunk
's Intermission Phase, the general strategy is to bait Mogul Razdunk to
Schmetterbohrer
on top of the three pillars to end the phase. However, there a strategy that can be done with certain classes to only have to break two pillars. On high keys,
Schmetterbohrer
does a lot of damage every time it lands, but skipping one
Schmetterbohrer
also saves about 10 seconds.
In order to skip one
Schmetterbohrer
, you have to get a Pet hit by the second
Schmetterbohrer
and for some reason it counts as an extra hit, removing an extra stack form
Mogul Ratztunk
which should break him out of the Phase. You can see Method EU (left screen) accomplish this using a Monk's
Sturm, Erde und Feuer
in the clip below.
Waycrest Manor - Opening Raal's Doors
Depending on what route Waycrest Manor has you taking in the dungeon, your entrance to
Raal der Unersättliche
may be less than optimal, forcing you to clear extra trash around the hallway to get to the open door. However, if you have a Rogue in your group, they are able to open all of the doors to
Raal der Unersättliche
's room for the rest of the party.
The Rogue will stealth and head to Raal's room through whatever door is open. They will then pull Raal and quickly
Verschwinden
. Whenever
Raal der Unersättliche
is pulled, all his doors will open. You can see this done in the Method EU (left screen) below.
