Pre-patch leveling process once again, using the
16 Year Anniversary
and
Darkmoon Faire
event buffs to set a new record from level 10 to 50 in just
4 hours and 17 minutes
! In a departure from his typical Warrior-focused gameplay, this run was done as a Frost Death Knight, due to the multitarget capability, powerful cooldowns, and strong survivability. Even if you aren't a speed leveler, it's a great example of how great the

This success is in no small part due to

, but a lot of additional preparation went into the run, some of which was
highlighted on Reddit

.
Relics of the Past crafting
also plays a major role in optimization, as it can create items even better than heirlooms in many cases.
Starting off with 100
Dunkelmond-Dolchmaul
for
Verblichene Schatzkarte
to turn into 10
Dunkelmond-Zylinder
from the Darkmoon Faire, the route itself is was more straightforward than the recently popularized
5 hour 44 minute run by Harldan
, without as much hopping back and forth between expansions. Like Harldan, DesMephisto also opted for Vulpera, as their

racial abilities reduce time spent backtracking - though Dark Iron Dwarf, Night Elf, and Zandalari are also considered very strong if not even better. DesMephisto also chose Death Knight due to Warrior mobility being hampered by the
Shadowlands
leveling squish delaying

until level 33, after the point at which flying is unlocked anyway.

Initially aiming for a 4 hour 20 minute time, time would have been even faster if not for an unfortunate roadblock, as the final turn ins at the Darkmoon Faire left him just a sliver away from reaching level 50. Luckily an extra quest turn in at the Frostfire Garrison saved the day! The early and middle parts of the run went very fast though, to the point at which he actual leveled so fast he upset his own strategy, with abilities not coming off cooldown as quickly as anticipated! Other issues such as the infamous stuck-in-combat bug also slowed him down, but overall it remained a very fast pace.
We'll likely see several new records and leveling routes come out this week, as more players experiment with the
16 Year Anniversary
and
Darkmoon Faire
events, but this is a great example of how fast leveling can go! Even if you're not a speed leveler, casual players were already reaching level 50 within 9-12 hours before factoring these buffs.
