Copa América Closing Season
Hello fellow World of Warcraft esports fans, it's time for another recap! These recaps will give you a summary of the action from World of Warcraft Arena tournaments, along with plenty of statistics to ponder. Today I will be examining the Copa América Closing Season. The Tournament
The Copa América Closing Season was the tournament to determine which team will be representing Latin America in the Arena World Championship at BlizzCon. Teams qualified for this tournament through the two qualifier tournaments, followed by the Closing Season Group Stage. The top four teams from the Group Stage were eligible to compete.

Latin America's Top Four Teams
Outplayed
qualified for the tournament through the Closing Pre-Season after missing out by one place in the Opening Season. They placed equal first in the Group Stage, playing Restoration Shaman, Arms Warrior and Demon Hunter in all but one of their matches. With their Demon Hunter unable to attend the Closing Season, Outplayed were unable to play their main composition and were the first team to be eliminated from the tournament.
XD
placed equal second in the Opening Season tournament, qualifying them for the Closing Season Group Stage. In the Group Stage, the team lost to Fake Brothers, but were able to defeat them when they met again with an MLS composition*. They also defeated Warlive with their Shadowplay, earning them equal third place. For the Closing Season, XD alternated between Shadowplay** and Owlplay***. After being knocked down to the lower bracket by Unitas Black, they were able to defeat Outplayed but lost to PvP Like a Boss, making them the second team to be eliminated from the tournament.
PvP Like a Boss
won the Opening Season tournament. In the Closing Season Group Stage, they initially lost to Metodo LA but defeated them later in the tournament with their Shadowplay. The team also defeated Last Chance playing Discipline Priest, Retribution Paladin and alternating between Survival Hunter and Subtlety Rogue. They placed equal third in the Group Stage. In the Closing Season, PvP Like a Boss defeated Outplayed with three different compositions and advanced to face Unitas Black. Unitas Black knocked them down to the lower bracket, where they defeated XD to meet Unitas Black once more in the Grand Final.
Unitas Black
placed equal second in the Opening Season, qualifying ahead of Outplayed by six points. The team appeared stronger during the Closing Season Group Stage, placing equal first in the tournament after winning six matches in a row with their Shadowplay composition. In the first match of the tournament, they defeated XD's Owlplay composition and advanced to face PvP Like a Boss. Unitas Black defeated PvP Like a Boss, only to face them in the Grand Final after their victory over XD in the lower bracket.

Grand Final
Unitas Black swept through the upper bracket, defeating XD and PvP Like a Boss to reach the Grand Final. After defeating Outplayed and being knocked down to the lower bracket by Unitas Black, PvP Like a Boss also defeated XD to reach the Grand Final.
The top two teams dominated the bracket, with PvP Like a Boss only losing to Unitas Black, and Unitas Black defeating every team they faced. Unitas Black played Arms Warrior, Demonology Warlock and Restoration Druid for all three matches against PvP Like a Boss' Shadow Priest, Demonology Warlock and Restoration Shaman, and their Shadow Priest, Assassination Rogue and Restoration Shaman in the final match of the series. Unitas Black's victory was swift, with no matches reaching the dampening stage. Impressively, they remained undefeated for two tournaments in a row, a feat I'm not sure we've ever seen before.
Statistics
Interestingly, every match in the Copa América Closing Season was a clean sweep.
Composition Shake-Ups
Outplayed were forced to be creative with their team compositions since they were missing one of their core team members. The team brought out an Arms Warrior, Protection Warrior and Restoration Druid composition. Sadly for Outplayed, this composition did not win any matches. Another unusual team composition was PvP Like a Boss' Elemental Shaman, Subtlety Rogue and Holy Priest, which found victory against Outplayed's Balance Druid, Arms Warrior and Restoration Shaman after almost 11 minutes. This was the only time a healer other than Restoration Druid or Restoration Shaman was played in the tournament. PvP Like a Boss also brought out the most team composition changes, playing two variations of Shadow Play, the Elemental Shaman, Subtlety Rogue, Holy Priest composition, and Shadow Priest, Assassination Rogue, Restoration Shaman.
Popular Picks
The most popular composition of this tournament was Shadowplay, which was selected 36.1% of the time. For Shadowplay, the most popular Warlock specialisation was Demonology, which was selected 69.2% of the time. The most popular healer for the composition was Restoration Shaman, which was selected 61.5% of the time and had a win rate of 62.5%. The remaining 38.5% of Shadowplay compositions were played with a Restoration Druid, which had a win rate of 60%.
Other than one-off selections, WLD**** was the most successful composition, with an impressive win rate of 100% after five matches. This composition was played by a team who also had a 100% win rate for the tournament, Unitas Black. The most popular DPS class of the tournament was Priest, with Shadow Priests featuring in 63.9% of team compositions. This is followed by Warlock, which featured in 50% of selections. The most popular healing class of the tournament was Restoration Shaman, which featured in 61.1% of team compositions. Restoration Druid was played in all other compositions except for the one match with a Holy Priest.
