New Hero: Moira
Moira is a geneticist that tries techniques that other would consider risky and dangerous.
She dislikes the Overwatch, saying they held scientific advances for decades, as they believed her to be controvertial, trying to silence her in the process.
She then affiliated herself with Blackwatch, as they shared some of her views;
She experimented on many different Blackwatch members, like herself and Gabriel Reyes, unshackled by laws.
Moira is a support healer character.
She is interested into develop science, not into conquering the world!
She doesn't want anything to get into the way of science.
She was recruited by Gabriel Reyes into the Blackwatch.
Later on she joined Talon, after Overwatch was done, allying herself with characters like Doomfist.
There have been a lot of different supports, angels, DJs and more. But they were always benevolent.
Moira tries to break that chain, being someone more morally ambiguous.
Her concept started withs something androgenous, mysteryous, before going to her final shape.
She even had tentacles in an early interaction!
They decided to tweak her further, giving her an unique sillouette.
The final concept focused on duality, being represented by her left and right sides.
Moira's gameplay is based on leeching enemies and then feeding that energy to allies.
A lot of details went into her hands.
The motion of her hands changes depending on if she is healing or damaging foes.
Her right hand has features that might be explained in the future!
Moira's Ultimate focuses on unleashing both of her sides in an explosion beam.
Primary Weapon: Biotic Grasp
Primary Fire - Regeneration: Shoots a beam to heal your allies. It pierces your allies and is really strong. There's a meter controlling it, using it consumes the meter faster than it regenerates.
Alternate Fire - Decay: Leeches the life essence from enemies, damaging them, healing yourself from it a little bit and increasing the meter for the primary fire. The idea is to use it to replenish your capabilities.
First Ability: Fade
Moira vanishes instantly, gaining a massive speed boost, but lasts only for a brief moment. It really looks like Reaper's ability for
Second Ability: Biotic Orbs: There are two different effects for this ability, depending on what you use after using it.
Primary Fire - Orb of Regeneration - A healing orb that heals nearby allies. It bounces around, slowing down if it is healing someone.
Primary Fire - Orb of Decay - A damaging orb that damages enemies in the path. It bounces on walls as well.
Ultimate Ability: Coalescence
Moira creates a massive beam in front of her, healing allies and damaging enemies in its path, pierces everything, include barriers.
Concept came from the question "What if Blizzard had a theme park?"
Many different easter eggs from all other Blizzard games, old and current!
It is an Hybrid Map
Starts on Warcraft goes to Starcraft and then Diablo.
Defenders start on Heroes of the Storm Arcade and Attackers on the Heartstone Tavern
From there attackers can decide to attack through the gates of Stormwind or they can bypass it via Lost and Found Vikings
There are many WoW references like the Fargo Deep Mine and Flight to Duskwood points or stop by some Burguer and Deathwings at Snaxxramaas
The first choke is based on a WoW mini-arena. Attackers will have many different healing options getting to that choke point.
As the first point falls, the payload starts moving, towards the Starcraft Area, starting at the Siege Tank and around the Pylon Terrace.
Pylon terrace is a giant circular arena, perfect to set up high ground opportunities.
Attackers can sneak around via the Ghost academy or the Nexus experience.
Third area is the Leoric's Manor, entering the Throne room.
The area exudes Diablo fantasy, with many different props present in the Diablo games, even some hidden lore.
The map overall was a labor of love for the Overwatch team, they all love all Blizzard games.
Many easter eggs around the map show that feeling around the map, from the Spawning Pools, to the Lost and Found Vikings and including a copy of the Greenhills of Stranglethorn!
It will hit the PTR soon and release next year.

Will Blizzardworld ever be real?
Maybe... in the future... with a multimillion dollar kickstarter.... who knows?
Can we have vehicles in maps? Like Siege tank in Blizzardworld?
There is nothing planned on Blizzardworld, it would disrupt gameplay, but maybe in Arcade one day.
Are Moira's powers connected to Zenyatta's?
Actually, Moira's powers are connected with Mercy's. There's some hint at it in the Oasis map.
With Junkrat's granades not hurting him anymore, can Pharah's ultimate not hurt herself?
Maybe. The Junkrat change was a matter of consistency, because some of his abilities already didn't hurt him, while the granades did. In general the idea is to make explosive weapons still hurt the character that throws them when you use them too close.
Is the next PvE event going to be in Eichenwalde?
Uh... Can't talk about the future, but we love that map, specially with this new cinematic.
Any plans to make Symmetra more viable in competitive? Maybe healing abilities?
Symmetra doesn't really fit well in the support category, but doesn't fit in defense either. In the future we might need to revist the categories to better accomodate changes with the game.
Symmetra doesn't see much play in high competitive, but her recent toolkit change brought some interesting changes that made her more viable.
Was Moira part of Titan? Are there more classes from Titan coming to Overwatch?
Moira wasn't present in Titan. More tools from Titan may come to Overwatch, but not necessarily in the shape of a new Hero.
New heroes feel slow compared to newly added heroes, are there plans to rebalance them?
It is a challenge to keep all heroes up to date with mobility changes, but we will make sure to not only add heroes with high mobility, like we already did with Orisa, in the future.
Can we expect to see more heroes showing up to be lgbt-identified in the future?
Diversity is an important aspect to the game and we love our game for that. We just need to find the right moment to show those aspects, so it seems natural and not forced on. There are more members of the Overwatch cast that are LGBT-identified.
Any plans to better balance quick-play?
While we can add more variables to quick-play queue, doing so can dramatically increase queue time, which can hurt the game more than help it. We might want to have some adjusts to Arcade to make it better accomodate people's preferences, like 6 dps games.
Is there going to be any interest to use old assets from different game-modes? Like same maps with different mechanics.
We love the idea and we do it sometimes like with Dorado and the Arena. I would love a Blizzardworld Arena or FFA. But that takes a while to see if it really fits the theme.
Would you consider adding a better report scorecard to the end of the game?
It has been talked to and some 3rd party website have been doing it. So it is on the radar.
There is so much unused lore potential to the game, will that be explored more in the future? Specially with single-player campagins.
We are all into showing more of the universe and we hope to be able to show more in the future. Stay tuned,
Why is there such a lack of social aspect to Overwatch?
There's a lot of different ways to approach social aspects of the game, with many challenges ahead of it, including how to proceed to it, how to ensure everyone is happy about it. But for now we don't have any details to share about it. But not sure Overwatch would ever have a lobby experience like other games.
Can we have Moira (Overwatch hero) connection with Moira (from World of Warcraft) via voice lines?
That's interesting, we hadn't thought about it. Maybe in the future.
How do you select features like body type or how to you "balance" the diversity of the game when creating a new hero?
Overwatch is all about diversity. We have already a really nice array of heroes. So with every hero we try to represent even more and more of you guys, to make you feel included. Always trying to make the game feel awesome.
How was the "Talon" faction created? Since it has so many different characters, it must have been difficult to align them all under one banner.
Talon was intended to be a group of people with different ideals, all working together for one common ideal, imposted by Doomfist, to make Mankind stronger by conflict. The best part of Talon is that it isn't limited to soldiers or scientists, which allows our creativity to be unleashed.
