Am I missing something? The guide says it has War Mode talents at the bottom but I don't actually see them anywhere.

On my field tests Consecration does much more damage than wake of ashes. And as Melee you almost always stand next to tank / boss so not much movement.

(I did cycles of 3 minute tests on dummy, and whit consecration i did 200k more damage and 600dps)

Justicar's Vengeance is more or less a useless trap.

Such has been said since legion when it could oneshot lesser geared people with its stun crit damage and heal at the same time , more so when paired with Fist of Justice and doesn't require wasting a gcd to heal

not quite true its acutly every holy power spending abilty does that on judgement.
and that incudes free spells like with Empyrean Power and Divine Purpose procs.

Really nice guide. I like the addition of Solo Questing tips. I know open-world content gets trivial really fast but it's a nice addition for new players.

Hmm, at level 70 I wonder if Divine Purpose will not be a must-take anymore. You can talent to get all three endcaps in the class tree if you don't take it, and the talents seem pretty flooded with HP anyway, I doubt I would miss the Divine Purpose procs

For M+ why wouldnt you take the Wake of Ashes Dot? is it just that bad or are other use for a point? I feel like spending 3hp for Radiant Decree instead of Divine Storm or Verdict is a loss of DPS, while the other route is 3hp generation.

Slightly confused with the Crusade talent. It says it Combines with Avenging Wrath but I don't see Avenging Wrath in my spellbook.

Zeal vs fires of justice? You would think anything dealing with holy power would be big. 25% chance is not to shabby considering you use it every ~5 seconds. does anything proc off our regular attacks?

Green: Always take these talents in any situation. e.g. Hallowed Ground and then not pick in single target. Confusing!
I would like to know is the cleave/aoe build for raiding also? Thanks in advance.

I think you need to update the "Retribution Tree" in the Talent Tree. It's not even close to the layout of the Talent Tree in-game. Also i don't see some of the talents you have listed -- "Swift Justice", "Judgement of Justice", "Guided Prayer" etc. (just to name a few of them) going back & forth between here & game i don't think i'm seeing them anywhere

This is embarrassing. There is no explanation, there is no reasoning. This is as bare bones as you can get. To call this a guide is laughable. Every other class and spec guide offers at least some sort of explanation as to why they chose the talents they selected. But not here, no no no. Just a "copy/paste what I did and do a sim if because I did a sim. Always take the green ones because green is the good color and sometimes take the other ones because they are not as good of a color as green is." It's guides like this that are the reason Ret is laughed at. Bolas, you are lazy and you put fourth no effort.

Thanks for putting this together, but not all players do raids and Mythic+ content. Something for levelling and PvE content would be fantastic.

It's a nice guide, but a little lacking.
I'd like some explanation as to the strengths of each tree choice, pointers on which talents are the focus of the tree and what is sacrificed for each build.
Hybrid ST and Hybrid AoE have only 2 talent choice changes between them- how does that affect overall playability or focus of the tree?
Please add some more information.

please bring old eye for an eye back to dragon flight for ret paladins or all paladins All spell criticals against you cause 30% of the damage taken to the caster as well. The damage caused by Eye for an Eye will not exceed 50% of the Paladin's total health. it would help so much in modern game and be a great pvp talent because current pvp talents are crap to say it plainly

I just want to add a comment here to say that I dont understand why you would tell ret paladins in M+ to not take Devo aura in their talents. Ive had several rets in groups not taking it. When a prot or holy is in the group sure, but if the group has no paladin, part of why im bringing you, is devo aura. Suggesting you dont have them bring their raid buff and part of their utility is insane to me.

Would be keen to see Herald Ret builds too; not all of us will be playing Templar!

Having seen the detail of the Enhancement Shaman talent builds guide, this Paladin guide could do with some more attention; Shammy one goes into detail on both Hero talents AND the Elementalist/Storm sub-types of dps while Ret is just 'Templar or gtfo' :/

Edit: Editing to show that i acknowledge the update showing both Hero talent choices and that i'm glad both specs are closely aligned dps-wise and either can be played based on your preference.

Why Execution sentence instead of Final Reckoning for M+? Execution sentence with this build hardly lasts long enough to get 3 spenders into it given you use it BEFORE you wake of ashes... also why would you combine radiant glory with crusade? You randomly get crusade for 6 seconds which is not even long enough to stack up a decent damage buff with spenders in that tiny window... AH YES 4 WHOLE SECONDS OF 6% increased damage when you could have had Avenging Wrath: Might instead and gotten a full 20% damage AND CRIT for that short window. Crusade is garbage for short 6 second procs and the tiny little 10 second window you get when using wake of ashes. Once youve reached 10 stacks during that window there is literally like 3 or 4 seconds left on the buff... you hardly get to use it at its full capacity which makes it an extremely poor choice.

Long time ret pally here. First off, amazing guide, it's very detailed and incredibly useful! I did find an inconsistency with the guide. In the rotation area the guide recommends we use execution sentence as a holy power builder before spending at the start of our rotation; however, when you go to the talent area, we're advised not to take the talent that allows execution sentence to be able to generate holy power. Hope this helps!

this made no sense to me..i guess its supposed to be the other way around?..crusader strikes being passive and not taking a gcd and all?

Delves & Open World
This build is a lot more AoE focused, taking all the Radiant talents on the right side of the tree. Templar Strikes is recommended here instead of Crusading Strikes as combat time generally won't last long enough for Crusading Strikes to be worth using.
