Hi there, so i just started the launcher and it prompted me to optimize my WoW in preparation for the patch I guess. But it is stuck at 0%, and I have tried restarting it and my computer, to no avail. Is this just because the servers are down? i.e. will i have to wait until the servers are back up to do this? anyone have any ideas?

If the downloader is not working for wathever reason, you can use a mirror:

Same issue here. I've downloaded the patch weeks ago via the Blizzard Background Downloader. Now the Launcher is open (updated for MoP) and is going through the Optimization Process (which says it may take 15-60 mins). That's all fine and dandy but the problem is its stuck on 0% with "Reconfiguring game files. Please wait."
I could wait all I want, but it doesn't look like any progress is being made. The Windows Vista warning came up, but I selected Unblock. It continues to sit there at 0%.
EDIT: I see
this thread
(forgot to put the link) already covers our issue. It seems the general consensus is that it will stay at 0% for a long time (~45 mins) before it starts making any progress. I'm going to leave my Launcher open and let it do its thing. I'll re-edit with an update.

Yeah, same here. Starting to think it is the stupid UAC even though I selected to keep it unblocked (I have Win7). If it is moving files around or deleting them, of course it needs admin permission. Gah. If someone figures out how to run it with Admin permission, let us know. :)
Edit: After turning off UAC (rather making sure it was fully turned off), Windows Defender, and Windows Firewall, the Optimizer is now showing 1% without restarting it or anything (New computer and haven't gotten around to getting rid of all the stupid stuff and getting good stuff, forgive me). My OP says 13 mins have passed since doing all that. There is hope!

After mine stayed at 0% for about 20 minutes, I got a bit worried and Googled it. Right when I got to the end of this thread I checked the launcher and it started coming back to life. It (on its own) retrieved the patch notes and materialized the progress bar of the usual WoW patching. All is well! Just let it do it's thing for a bit and keep an eye on it, it will start up on its own. (Unless you have some issues such as lack of admin privileges, but even that may not cause a problem)

Running as an admin:
Right Click the launcher icon
Select PROPERTIES
Click the COMPATIBILITY tab
Check the box for "Run this program as an administrator"
Click APPLY then OK
Start the Launcher
Enjoy

I installed WoW in C:\World of Warcraft. In a flash, all your UAC issues disappear. Just copy-paste your World of Warcraft folder out of Program Files and into C:\.

I'm not sure if Windows has optimized itself but since Win98, longer load up times were related to how many files you had directly under the C: drive. Therefore I've always installed my games into C:/My Documents/Games (Or D:). Which should also take care of UAC problems because it usually only pops up if you use the default path of Program Files. Honestly it was probably when I turned off Firewall that the issue was resolved, I did everything else though as a precaution.

Some people are getting really worried here. I had to reinstall World of Warcraft on my computer because I got one error and it said to reinstall it to assure everything goes smoothly. Well, the Mists of Pandaria thing is not coming up for me, I still have the Cataclysm launcher but it's loading, so do not fret..
Blizzard is under maintence right now, that means half of the websites and pages from Blizzard are closed down including the official World of Warcraft site. The patch will be on your computer once it has officially released. Log into World of Warcraft (the game if you can) and check the Breaking News, it says what time the maintence will be off. Once the maintence is done, the game will be back live, and the patch will be on.
When the patch goes live your computer will automatically begin to install it
I hope I helped.
