Looks like there is a new achievement to have both a 90 character on Horde and Alliance. With that being said, will be starting a Blood Elf Paladin this weekend. My question is, what is the fastest way to 85? I will be in full heirloom gear. Is it faster to grind quests or grind instances. I will be in protection spec, so I will be getting instant queues.
These are my only 2 options, not getting assistance from any friends or doing refer a friend.
Thanks,

You already have more than one ally 85? If so the fastest way would be a faction change ;)
Alternatively I've always quested when no rested XP and dungeoned when rested. Seems to be the fastest way for me.

Primarily if your a tank dungeon running is rather quick.
There are a few level ranges where you might want to bust out a couple levels via questing. (such as 58-62 and 68-72 or so)
My fastest /played is just over 5 1/2 days with a warrior in full heirlooms tanking dungeons.

80-85 will likely get faster in MoP, so you may want to hold off on leveling that particular chunk.

The fastest way to 85 is a combination of questing and dungeoning. You want to do each dungeon once, to get all of the quests done, and do quests when you're not doing dungeons.

Prot with Heirlooms?
The absolute fastest way is questing, hands down. I don't care how fast dungeon queues pop, you still have to get through the darned dungeon and put up with gods knows who to get out of it. I prefer not to put my levelling speed at the mercy of dungeon mates.
3 months ago I speed ran a Prot Pally to 85 in 2 days 21 hours played, and I wasn't even really trying to be fast, I just kept moving on to the next zone once it was level appropriate. AND required xp to level was nerfed on Tuesday, so it should go even faster.

Full Heirlooms questing. Do dungeon ques as often as you feel like it, it helps to break up the slower moments without stopping all the XP flow.
Should only take around a week, tops.

They already turned that on.

In that case, I have an 80 hunter that needs attention. Thanks!

Honestly, especially as a Prot Pally in full heirlooms, I think its close enough to be personal preference.
I also recently leveled a Pally, and I did 95% or more dungeons. I did quest a little, as suggested, in the "transition" phases between Azeroth and Outlands, Outlands to Northrend, and then again at level 80. This was mainly just to get the easy boosted gear from the stater quests to make dungeon runs a little easier. The most drastic level is 80, because most of your heirlooms do not scale to Cata stats, so without some AH gear, or a few quests, you will have a tough time in Cata dungeons, with Wrath stats.
My time to 85 was just under 3 days, and I also leveled mining, and somewhat leveled BS as well. I would say you could cut a good 1/2 day off if you ignore professions.
I really had few issues with LFG groups. With my gear, even if the group was undergeared, I could compensate. I did have some times where pure boredom sat in, as there are a few points there where you will run the same dungeon over and over and over, as the choices are limited.
So, TL:DR....its your choice, both questing and LFG are close enough to equal, that its what you want to do, or could be a combination of both.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Looks like I will just grind out the quests!
