Shield Bash, New Daze effect?

As per today's patch notes:

Shield Bash, a key component of a Warrior's toolkit, will now officially Daze the target upon a successful hit. Let's talk about Daze for a minute and what exactly it does.

Daze causes the target to travel at 50% speed and dismounts the target if mounted. Many players experience Daze first hand when they're trying to run away from a mob since all mobs have a significant chance to daze a player when attacking the player from behind. However that is not to say that the warrior must be behind the mob for this to work (the opposite is true, in fact).

This is another Great addition for Prot PvP. Question is how long does this last? Anyone try it? (I can't get on atm)

It's done this since the new rank(s) were added with BC...

Well. The new ranks did until they removed the damage caused by shield bash, which made extra ranks superfluous, and so removed. I guess they overlooked that the max rank had the daze effect, and decided to just add it to the initial ability (which is all anyone gets now).

The extra damage on dazed targets is sort of a left over from when they intended for a lot more classes to apply daze effects. BC originally had a lot of that kind of synergy (abilities which did additional effects that other classes could exploit) but it was too complex and so nothing came of it.

Except for fury warriors using piercing howl :)
The effect from Piercing Howl is named a daze, but it does not increase damage of Heroic Strike. This information was current as of 2.1. Big misconception there.

It's awesome because you can do that and get a heroic strike or two in. Plus, use it on mobs around 20% so you don't have the hassle of having to charge them.
