No, it's this.

I wouldn't use Siphon Life glyph. I'd use a combination of Soul Link, Quick Decay, Shadowflame, Corruption, Howl of Terror, and UA. If Corruption, your most powerful DoT, is ticking faster, it increases pressure on the enemy healers, it also increases the number of potential Nightfall/Glyph of Corruption procs, for more burst/pressure. You also don't have several talents which boost crit % like Destro, so people with 1000+ resil all but nullify crit chance unless you completely gear for that, where you lose faster fears, faster UA/Haunt, so you can stay on the move more. You're trying to wear them down. If you want to play super bursty, go Destro where you need those quick crit chains.
Edit: I should add that GoQD also speeds up healing from Siphon Life, since corruption is doing damage faster. Basically, it's damage and healing instead of just healing when comparing Glyph of Siphon Life vs Glyph of Quick Decay.

I'm not sure how much you could call a slightly sped-up ticking of Corruption to be "burst", but it at least might give you slightly more Shadow Bolts if you had Nightfall, right? (I personally just didn't see enough of a damage gain with Quick Decay to really make a difference for myself... I plan to reattempt it when I can gear for more haste)
I think the OP's main question was, why should he focus so much attention on Corruption? And the answer is that it's his #1 spell to put on everything which moves.
I found Shadowflame (with the 70% slow glyph) to be useful for hitting a bunch of nearby enemies -- especially, when a DK yanked me over in front of them -- then running through them to their rear, and trying to escape however I could. (While the DK's harpoon was on cooldown) Might be even more useful when I get 'round to making myself a new pair of rocket boots.
If you're specced Destro for PvP, you might get just as much (or more) mileage out of Shadowfury.

IMO, shadowflame is essential. Most people who dont use it cant use it. Its a quick cool down and a massive slow. You can be CoE the healer / ranged while shadowflaming the mele or whatever. Practice makes perfect.
On the main note I love haste as affliction / destro. Its a no brainer for affliction...Corruption / Haunt / UA are you main spells period. Haunt and UA have cast times....
I've always felt desto isint about getting thoes lucky crits...I feel its about control. With shadowfury and chaos bolt (going though resists n such) you can really really control someone. Also after a conflag a few super quick searing pains will take the kill.

Aside from Glyph of Quick Decay, haste allows you to get UA and Haunt off more reliably without being counterspelled.
This
is currently the top Warlock listed on
www.arenajunkies.com
. When browsing some of the top players (which I highly recommend) I was surprised to find none use Glyph of Soul Link. But as I thought about it, it began to make sense. Obviously with a dedicated healer it's not needed as much. But maybe more important is that it makes your pet die faster. A dead pet usually means a dead Warlock in the arena.
Basically all the top players use Glyph of Quick Decay and Glyph of Shadowflame, with the 3rd being a tossup. I never see survivability glyphs like Soul Link or Siphon Life. But a solo BG setup is going to look different; these profiles are obviously centered around arenas.
