I like and hate the Guild Levelling System. Other games have had it and it's worked quite well (I've only seen it in action in Warhammer Online though and it was implemented in such a weird and confusing manner I just ignored it).
I like it because it promotes guild activity, which is great for aspiring guild masters wanting to make their members a little bit more active. There's actually a proper incentive to be active other than being included in things like dungeons and/or raids (if your guild does though).
The downside, at least for me, is if you're in a more casual guild how hard will it be to level? I'm not in a raiding guild as I am a role-player, the guild I'm associated with is fairly casual and suited towards role-playing more than anything else (though we are slowly progressing through dungeons now and soon will be doing raids hopefully).
I know the rest of the game is pretty much casual-friendly but what about guilds? Should we expect the same "EZMODE" treatment, and if so, how badly will it be? Those are some questions I'd like answered personally (note: I don't condone casual-friendly updates made by Blizzard, I'd prefer Blizzard made less updates that promoted easy-gaming but that's just me).

Blizzard stated only the Top-20 "activists" will benefit Guild Leveling. So, as long as you got a min of 20 - but
hard working
people, your guild should level almost as fast as the hardcore ones.
On a side note, blizzard said they would put a "cap" on this and Path of the Titans so you can't blast your way throu upgrades.

Hm. Look forward to it. I'm also looking forward to the new Mastery thing and the Path of the Titans. I love character customization, love the talent trees (even if most are unbalanced).

Perfect opportunity for me to wonder this:
WHAT IF...I decide to make a solo/two-person guild, and level it (slowly) all on my own?
Wouldn't that just give me a big extra bank, an extra and useful talent tree 'all for myself' and plenty of heirlooms I'd never lose?
Well, of course there's downsides. Like not actually being in a guild with friends and never being able to properly do guild raids etc. but still. Makes one wonder.
If that's possible I could see bank alts taking advantage of it. But I won't be surprised if they make some sort of requirement based on the amount of people you have in your guild.
Not all guilds have several hundred members, some are just small groups of tightly knit friends. Chances are the system will not be available to you if you're the only one in the guild. There'll probably be a minimum level of members needed.

I hope that guild levelling won't be just based on dungeons and raids. My guild is a casual guild. A while ago most players took their main to a raiding guild, but all are back. Raiding is one aspect of the game, but to me not even the most important.
I would prefer guild level to be based on advancement of all aspects of the game, so also e.g. exploration, secondary professions and number of pets, drinks drunk, foods eaten, recipes etc. learned.
If my guild had to choose between running an instance for ability-improving gear/raid achievement or trying for the brewfest mount, we'd go for the brewfest mount any day of the week. Cos it's kewl (and the events are fun).

I guess that my problem with the emphasis on combat/instances (if that were to be the case) is that for me that is not what Wow is about. My path to Wow lead via roleplaying games ((A)dnd, Star Wars, Baldur's Gate etc.). To me it's not about the combat, but vombat is but one part of the game.
I view the war in Warcraft as a cold war. The times from the fifties to the eighties of the twentieth century. There are places and times when the war heats up (e.g. Wintergrasp and some quests), but most of the time both blocks look at each other warily accros the Iron Curtain.
An example is the Bond movies where the KGB and MI6 fight each other, but Bond also works together with Soviet agents or they don't actively fight. Bond could have a drink with a KGB agent one evening and both would be trying to kill each other the next day.
It would, imo, be a pity if the levelling of a guild and the advantages of the levelling of a guild were to be limited to instances related aspects.

guild leveling wont be just dungeons/pve it will be what individual guild members achieve, they help guilds level with dailies and other things, only top 20 producing members get to contribute though
