Your current gear is really bad, you should have at least 200 hit rating before you go into karazhan, never gem your gear with crit, always gem it with hit or agility depending if your hit capped but pre-kara you won't be so always use +8/10 hit rating gems, if you're lucky like i was, have a guild who boosted me through the raid with little hit and attack power and come out with 2/5 t4 and a few other bits and now have most of the best gear in-game!
this is bad advice, do not listen to anyone who tells you any magic numbers like "at least 200 hit."
also: the gems are decent, and save money, if you really don't want to spend honor on other stuff, you could get them.

yeah. you are dreaming if you want to get 200 hit rating pre kara.
not sure if you're sarcastic or not, you can get 200 hit pre kara, but it's still a "magic number" and should be disregarded and abandoned for actually looking at DPS.

200 hit is not a magical number, is only an amount of hit rating worth for combat swords spec. as combat sword u need to gather all the hit u can just because ur extra attacks won't hit, thrashing 5 TPs.
for my rogue, with gemming correctly and taking the right pieces, i had 302 hit pre-kara. so 200 is not a dream, is a baseline.
and for your armory, change as fast as u can your MH. remove that crap 6crit on your belt and put 6/8 hit. and remeber u are all in green, so no hit from your gear. go for 70, go in istances, gather the gear u need. from pvp only the swords OFC.

in my opinion for Kara 150 hit rating should be a minimum, anything higher then this will certainly benefit you in terms of damage, but unless you plan to run instances and heroics for a month solid before going to Kara then i would aim for 150. I am currently running at 215 hit and i am doing SSC, TK and MH raiding and i am still Top 2 in damage done day in day out. However one thing i would say is that T5 gear you lose the hit rating and gain alot more crit due to the scaling of the raids and the enrage timers and waves from MH you need to down things quicker.

I am serious. I have been getting kara ready for weeks now. Hit rating is hard to get. And its not worth gemming. Im just going Stam and agi right now.
Edit: grammar
Your logic is awful. You're saying that since hit is scarce on starter items you should NOT gem it?
Buddy, hit and agility are the only two things worth gemming.

yeah, I remember having like 225 before starting kara. but I had 225 because the gear that I had upgraded to for DPS increase gave me that much hit, not because I upgraded TO 225 hit to increase my dps.

Okay. Does agi improve hit rating? I am told that going for only basic stats such as agi, stam, strength, intellect, etc. at some point increase stuff like hti rating, defense, blocking, parry, etc. This is just a general question about all classes.

Guys, this is a pretty straight forward concept. When Pete007 says that the numbers are arbitrary, he means exactly that. Hit rating is something to be valued but not geared around. A Rogue with 1400 AP and 200 hit goes into Kara along with another Rogue who has 1700 AP and 79 Hit, the second Rogue could very well beat the first one in overall DPS. His swings will hit less often, but when they do hit, they hit harder than the first Rogue.
Note: The above numbers are ironic. They are arbitrary to explain how the above standards are arbitrary. Plus I'm too lazy to figure out the exact numbers. Thats what
spreadsheets
are for.

Big debate for Kara... now that S2 gear is available for everyone u should know that it is superior to all Kara drops (with few exceptions), even if it has loads of Resi instead of hit.
I have been raiding a lot, but till I reached the 25 man content I did not even bother to respec from HShS to Combat, and believe me, was top DPS at the end of raid.
Actually, no. The karazhan pieces are stronger than s2.
The
helm
is better by a difference of 6 dps (considering my gear)
The
shoulders
are better by 0.5 dps.
The
chest
is better by 5.5 dps.
The
leggings
are better by 17 dps.
The
gloves
are better by 6 dps.

Why are we still having this debate? Arbitrary numbers are arbitrary numbers. See
this thread
for a slightly more fleshed out argument over it (and for the epic lulz). I'd rather see someone in a Kara raid with properly itemized blue dungeon gear than some idiot who's sacrificed every other stat for hit (example: deciding to use
this
instead of
this
- yes, I've seen people do this before).
Oh, and S2 armor is teh bad. Give me T4 any day.
