I've taken several breaks, sometimes just a few weeks, sometimes a month or 2, but I've only "quit" once. I was gone for a year and a half and I'm actually surprised in retrospect that I came back at all. I was so not ready for BC to end when it did, I was frustrated with several aspects of wrath and very frustrated with my crappy computer and internet at the time, and while it was quite a while afterwards I never really got over my outrage over the zombie event and it was a part of why I left as well.

I've quit several times. The first time before TBC. Quit in the middle of TBC. Quit just before Wrath. Quit just before Cata. Quit a couple of months after coming back to Cata. Not planning on quitting before the next expansion per se, but I will be focusing heavily on Diablo 3 when it is released. If it's ever released. For that matter, I ever only started playing WoW to pass the time before Diablo 3 came out. Who knew it'd be 8 years since then?

I quit WoW in the middle of August.
Don't miss it at all, due to the fact that it was already pissing me off and I wasn't enjoying it anymore.
Now I spend my time making babies.

- Aion Online (1 Day)
Lol?
Unless he played 24 hours straight (actually, not even then), the OP cannot have tried the game seriously. It was kind of fun for the first 25 levels, actually.
On-topic: I've quit the game twice. First to play, coincidentally, AION, which I played for a good three months before quitting and staying out of MMOs altogether for another 3-5 months. Second time around was around the release of patch 4.1, and I'm still undecided if I'll be coming back to 4.3 or not.
Did not take me to get to level 25 to realize that the game was a steaming pile, instant dislike for many reasons...... ill name a few
- Animations where terrible
- Its an Asian MMO, not to my taste
- Graphics sucked, from all the hype I had very high expectations.
- Massive amounts of trolling/abuse/spam in general chat
I admit I should have of checked out the game a bit more before jumping into it, but what can I say I was mislead by the hype.

I quit for the first time in August, although I think it's becoming more of a break now, as I'm thinking of starting fresh once transmog comes out. I left because I was starting to loose the willpower to play.
I actually "quit" back in vanilla as well until I came back properly in TBC, just because I had a really sucky computer and WoW was unplayable.

depends on what the defination of quitting is here, I would say I haven't really quit the game.
I have however not played some time very much, like I only log in every two week once or something. One time I did not log in for a month. Other times I play a lot more frequently.
I tried to switch to guild wars, but it was really too boring compared to wow.

I've never actually let my subscription run out, but I have taken long breaks before. Once, I took a break from BC (don't remember exactly when in BC) to 3.3 in Wrath. I only got to Level 41 in BC, though. I'm currently taking a break right now. It started a few months after 4.1, then I came back for Brewfest, and I plan to come back when 4.3 comes out.
