i strongly believe in the seperation of church and state.
Why? This isn't anywhere in law. The closest argument for this in law would be judicial review, and even 'judicial review' is unconstitutional, and was layed out in 'Marbury vs Madison', where it created itself.
This country was founded on religions having freedom from government, not government having freedom of atheism from its constiuency.

Windiebird:
It is true that our government was meant to adapt and change, but it was meant to grow through the people's adoption of law through thier representatives in the legislative branch, not through the precident set by judges. If there is to be a separation of church and state, it needs to be outlined in a constitutional ammendment, not through the opionions of few justices in the supreme court.
When you said:So the precedent for the separation of religion from State is actually well supported at this point.
It protects religions as well as government agencies. No preferential treatment in any direction ensures the most equal treatment under the law.
You were incorrect, and will have a very hard time finding the law that supports that notion. Government needs to follow the law, not 'precedent'.

Actually, it's in the basis for all of our laws.
Or did you forget about the constitution?
I know it quite well. Which article were you refering to?

Sorry this isn't the christian version of Iran. i.e. It's not a theocracy.
Also, there's a difference between "atheist" and "secular"...

i wasn't refering to a law.
This is the dangerous part of what you are asking for. Whether or not we think government should be religious, not religious, or have mandatory half price tuesdays... the point is, they should ALWAYS follow the laws we lay down, not thier own precedent. If we allow government to do
anything
without first getting approval of constitutional law, then we have lost.
