Tailoring allows players to cut and weave various pieces of cloth into armor, bags, shirts, and other cloth items. Tailors play an especially important role in guilds because they can create bags for the entire guild, provided the guild members gather the proper ingredients. Tailors are responsible for creating cloth items for cloth-armor wearing classes: Mages, Warlocks, and Priests. They occasionally make items for other classes, such as cloaks or spellthread for pants. They also make decorative shirts. Tailors are also able to make special cloth equipment which requires that the user have a high level tailoring skill in order to use the item as well as a special Tailoring Mount.
While they can create a variety of items, they strangely cannot repair these items when damaged, and must still use the services of a repair vendor.

As of patch 4.0.3 there are currently no "NPC recipes" (dropped by monsters) to make Cataclysm gear. Currently there is only Dreamcloth gear for 359 epics (PvE), and the rest is mainly PvP gear (339 item level and lower). I wonder if they will bring out new recipes or if they will keep only the rare 7 day cooldown cloth epics.

Players with a Tailoring skill of 400 or higher have a 50% chance (up from 25% due to a recent change) to find additional cloth on any mob that drops cloth. This perk appears to work on even on mobs that it isn't your "turn" to loot in group loot (i.e. dungeons). On average you will find about 3-5 extra cloth of the current level.

I know that back in BC days Spellfire was for Mages, Shadoweave was for Warlocks, and Mooncloth was for Priests (in general). Is it still the same with Ebonweave/Spellweave/Moonshroud in terms of stats? I know the specialisations were removed, it's just that I don't want to waste mats on making stuff that's no good for me while I'm levelling.

i wouldn't recomend using cloth as a paladin. but enchanting/tailoring is a great combination since u can disenchant almost everything u make. and if u wanna take blacksmithing u should drop enchanting and take mining instead.

I was wondering why tailors can't make lvl 85 shoulders that are at least 346, I thought that maybe quartermasters would have some nice shoulder pieces, but there don't seem to be any anywhere, I don't do dungeons, as I don't care about tier stuff, can anyone tell me what are the best shoulders for cloth wearers? That you can get outside of a dungeon. Thank-you:)

Passing the frostweave cloth requirement for getting a skill point gap is proving to be quite exhausting... so far i have had 44 stacks of frostweave and only made it with that from 350 to 403.
At this point I get 1 skill point per 8 Bolt of frostweaves meaning 1 skill point per 2 stacks of frostweave cloth.. now thats just.. bothering...

This is what the Swedish guy said, thanks to Google Translate.
I used this strategy: if you start and do not have high character, continue to play the highest or create something new and get to level 40-50, and throughout the playing time, not to sell any cloth you will receive and pit it in the bank; later when you get enough money for bags or have a friend tailors, creating some bags and buy al bank slots if you have money. and put all your cloth in the bank than when you think you have enough fabric to make another character and learn Tailoring with enchanting, and use all your cloth, also see what other things you need for 200 - tailoring and when you get them, put them in banking too.
Short version:
1st Post new characters / continue playing your highest
2nd Get him to the 45-50 when you can get mageweave
3rd Save all fabrics and other items needed for sewing in the bank, buy all bank slots as you have money
4th Make new signs, learn Tailoring (good with enchanting) and use your carpets from bank
?
6th Win!
This is exactly what I used and it works!. at least for me. try it if you want and after results!

As an aside, Tailoring can be especially lucrative on RP realms like Wyrmrest Accord and Moon Guard, where people will buy lower level and vanity cloth items specifically to construct roleplay outfits for their characters, regardless of their class.

This profession is primarily for priest, warlocks and mages. A very good combo with enchanting because enchanting mats come form green items which can be crafted by most professions. The main advantage is you farm for cloth by finding a mob and its respawn rate and just farm. While blacksmithing and jewelcrafting require more movement. All professions. are profittable but this one involves fighting for your mats. be aware that at endgame most crafting proffesion recipes are hard to find or involve a lot of work. Gathering proffesions may be advisable for fast gold, but in the long haul once you find the recipes you can profit 1-10 k gold a day . Hopes this helps any one having trouble with deciding if this is a viable proffesion.

Ok all you Tailoring enthusiasts out there, I would like to know why all of us fine makers of bags; for (i.e.) Herbalists, Enchanters, Jewelcrafters all with their big beautiful 36 slot bags, and us stuck with our wonderful 22 slot Embersilk Bag, that is in such high demand because it holds anything you want in it, ( oops sorry started to RANT sorry, lol ) so that leaves us holding the bag, so to speak.. whats up with that. I would like to add another thing about bags; Dear ( WoW ) we start with a 16 slot backpack, very nice thank you for the no fee bag; But I feel, I need to add my two cents, at level 50 my bag is looking pretty tattered, and I want a new one, I am willing to pay 50 gold to up-grade my pack for, ( 4 ) extra slots. And at lvl 80, 100 gold for a ( 22 ) slot pack, and yes it's non-negotiable to wait till lvl 80 to save 50 gold for your replacement bag.. that generates a lot of gold for WoW. just think about that, but don't take to long…..thanks for your understanding : ^) 10,000.000(members)X$150 gold = $1500,000.000 gold in WoW's pockets. wow

For new players, especially clothies, I strongly recommend dropping a gathering profession (probably skinning) at level 15 (when you can start running instances) and taking up tailoring. No matter where you go, humanoid mobs have a good drop rate on cloth. Someone mentioned dovetailing it with enchanting. I agree wholeheartedly. If you are a PvPer or don't run instances, then this is not all that germane, but there you have it. I pug a lot and tailoring is great for puggers.
At BC level, that's when you can start consistently making gold. Buying netherweave bags is the WoW equivalent of going down the street to pick up a loaf of bread and quart of milk. Pretty much everyone leveling up goes through netherweave bags. LK and Cata level bags sell well. Specialist bags are very useful, too.
Tailored items are sellable and top-level stuff goes well on the AH. Tailoring is extremely useful for PvP players, because there's always a list of decent level tailored gear to choose from. Plus there are nets that you can make. My big income producers are spellthreads and bags.
A side note is that there is a pattern that looks like blue overalls that is 'moggable. I had an acquaintance who lamented that his cartoon "wears a dress" (sheesh. get over it), so I gave him overalls to shut him up.

For those leveling through the
霜纹布
portion, trying to find a good place to farm, Marmotteuh from the
霜纹布
comments has brought me to this...
尤尔丁格斗者
are numero uno for
霜纹布
. I've done a few of the quests (can do the dailies) and it's not phased for me at all.
As an Affliction
术士
Tailor with
布匹搜寻
I just hit the mobs with
腐蚀术
and run back to the center (if I have to move at all). Shadow
牧师
with
暗言术:痛
,
死亡骑士
with
寒冰锁链
, or
猎人
with a
'/stopattack' macro would probably work just as well.
The key is to just hit them with a no-cooldown dot or other ability that doesn't kill them instantly and that you can chain-cast to get them to run to you at the middle.
At level 90 with 442 ilvl I'm doing just enough damage so they die basically as they get to me unless they leap to me. Only times it's annoying is when (VERY rarely) they will knock me in the air just as I hit
腐蚀术
, so I have to recast. Just dot up the next ones that repop, rinse and repeat. 3 up at all times means chain pulls are very easy to accomplish. I usually chain for about 30 seconds or so before stopping to loot so I make sure not to lose any. The insults they sling make it a little more interesting, as does the constant respawn, than anywhere else. Not to mention the 460 cloth gathered in an hour mentioned by Marmotteuh is right on track, even stopping in between to go vendor at the Shadow Vault. I'm guessing with completely empty bags and dropping a
基维斯
or
废物贩卖机器人制造器
as an Engineer, you could get upwards of even 600 per hour.
Use the
维库人的徽记
for turn-ins to get
冰霜束缚命运符文
for those times when you have to move a bit to tag one.
Another nice thing is you don't have to feel bad for taking quest mobs from players that come through. The instant respawn allows you to stop for a minute (take a bio break maybe? :P) and let them get the mobs they need, perhaps even helping them kill them. Then you can go right back to work without having to stop the bloodshed. Fantastic spot, absolutely perfect. I've done other places too such as the
被转化的英雄
area, and it's just not as good.
TL;DR - If you're looking for the 1200
霜纹布
to level
裁缝
you'll spend maybe 2-3 hours here (still not short, but the best I have seen). Need the 76 for
? Maybe 5 minutes.

Why is it, at higher levels, there are far more pvp patterns? This might be ok on pvp servers but the majority are pve so I think that there should be at least as many pve patterns as pvp. This applies not only to tailoring but also leather, mail and plate armour (and yes I am English so it is spelt Armour).
That's my gripe done, not that Blizz will do anything about it!

Actually one of the best profession to make gold especially if you're on a RP realm. Shirts, bags, nice-looking items are easy to sell for a good price at the AH.
Think also about all the BoP items you can craft for your character if you yourself are a roleplayer :) (and think about all the gold you could save by crafting instead of buying gear from others players, eheh)

In WoW professions we now buid items that can rival the raid drop items and are far better than the dungeon drop items. They start small and can be made bigger and bigger. They all are created with what is called a
<Random Enchantment>
. We even craft items to take another roll at the <Random Enchantment> on the gear. The random enchant includes 2 of the secondary stats (giving us a measurable chance or RNG). Items for the Back (cloak), neck, neck, finger(ring), weapon, and shield, have a greater number of possibilities than other armor items, because they can contain the secondary statistics of Bonus Armor and Spirit (fortunately they do not include the combination of both those statistics ;-).
All of the items have a name in the form of "<ItemName> of the
<RandomEnchantComboName>
". If you click on the
<RandomEnchantComboName>
link, it will take you to a chart with all the possible names and combinations. I wish I could add a picture here.
http://compuball.com/forum/WoWRandomEnchantment.png
Examples:
"
钢铸护盾
of the Guileful" would have Critical Strike and Bonus Armor as the <Random Enchant>
"
真钢护胸
of the Harmonious" would have Mastery and Versatitility as the <Random Enchant>
(I think I threw up a little bit there)
Most Armor Items:
As we see from this graph, the number of possible <Random Enchantments> for most armor items will be 10. So, you have a 1 in 10 (1/10 or
10%
) possibility of getting just the mixture of statistics you want.
Cloaks, Necks, Rings, Shields, Weapons:
These items have an additional 2 statisctics added to the normal 4. The added statistics, as mentioned earlier, are Bonus Armor and Spirit (Tank and Healer statistics, respectively). Fortunately there is no combination of both Bonus Armor and Spirit (ever here of teats on a boar hog?)
Only weapon types
intended
for a healing class will have the possibility of Spirit, and only weapon types
intended
for a tanking class will have Bonus Armor. Weapons
intended
for both, will have the same chances as all the jewelry, cloaks, and shields. So if it can be enchanted (by enchanting) or is a shield, it fits in this class of item.
So your chances of getting the perfect necklace with just the right two secondary statistics is 1 in 20 (1/20 or
5%
). I am not certain whether Bonus Armor and Spirit have the same chance of being included. If they are given a single chance and then chosen between the two, then your chance for an item with perfect statistics not including Bonus Armor or Spirit would be 1 in 15 (1/15 or
6.67%
).
I would list here all the values associated with the <Random Enchantments>, however they vary depending on the slot and material. They also vary with the level of the individual wearing or looking at them.
There you have it. All the possible names and combinations. All items of the same level contain the same amount of statistic, such as "54 Critical Strike" and I have not seen a crafted item with a double a statistic (only one statistic but twice the value).
EDIT: None of content, just spelling and highlighting.

Skinning is the gathering skill for tailoring, so if like me, you pick enchanting as your second proffession you won't be able to make some of the recipes. But as a blood elf mage this is probably the best combo. You just have to get things like light leather and etc from your guild or friends.

Very Important:
With Battle for Azeroth, Tailoring (and all other profession skills) have been broken down into Cataclysm Tailoring, Northrend Tailoring, Pandarian Tailoring, etc. Previously, this would mean that you just level up and get to the skill set where you can learn those patterns from a Tailor (any Tailor).
Leveling up a profession at a single tailor is no longer an option.
You can now level up Pandarian Tailoring without knowing a single Northrend, Outland, etc. pattern and vice versa.
So! If you are looking to learn a pattern introduced in Pandaria, go to Pandaria and find a tailor there to learn it. If you are looking to learn a pattern in the Outlands, go to the Outlands and find a tailor. I think you're getting my drift.
Do not, do not, for the love of all that is Holy do not level up Northrend Tailoring expecting to be given Cataclysm Tailoring when done. You will have some nice, shiny clothes or whatever, a full 75 skill in Northrend Tailoring and a bored looking trainer in Dalaran (Crystalsong Forest) and no other patterns to learn...and you'll be out a bunch of money if you've been buying all your mats from the AH instead of working with what you've collected like most of us who are trying to level a skill. :-p
Also, I'm writing this the morning after spending more time than necessary on the
Inspire Me!
because I had all the patterns except one...from Northrend. :sigh:
So, learn from my mistake and find out where that pattern you're looking for comes from and then to to that zone to find a tailor who can teach you that pattern.
Also, I just woke up and don't really care if I've misspelled the names of stuff. Take that as you will. I just wanted to put this out there because I have yet to find *anywhere* that provides this information.
Happy Tailoring!

yea, so.. i picked the wrong profession for my class, tailoring, just because i want to make bags bags and more bags!
i cannot use most of the stuff i can make, because i wear plate.
nor can i trade or sell the really good stuff if i could ever get to make them, on the ah.
to get the stuff to make the real good stuff you have to suffer through dozens of runs with tunnelers, taking a good chunk of your paid time to do it.
only to have it replaced by something green in quality in the next level update, usually shortly after you have become able to make 1 of these good items.
professions in general have become an undesirable leveling action for the most part, ever since socketing your own gear was taken away, LK era.
Blizz has lost its way when it comes to professions and why it was such a wanted thing to level up for.
if you can make it, you should be able to sell it.
the really good stuff should not take you a month of gaming to get the materials to make 1.

Hello all,
Blizzard has completely destroyed the main idea in the game, trade, production, professions and everything. Actually now it's just similar to mobile legends a little better combat on more raids and dungeons on different levels. Big advice to everyone from a player of more than 18 years nonstop in wow - don't do alts, don't develop professions, it makes absolutely no sense. In a word, do not spend too much time on World of Warcraft totally destroyed by its own creators.
Professions are useless and even if you make one for yourself later to update it, you will spend more time than to join a progressive raid group, and you will still get better and higher gear faster from simple M+ (levels 0-10), raids or even normal/hc, which are not hard to get into. Such equipment hopelessly developed every profession does not give. There used to be items worth having from crafts today it is completely gone and even for yourself you will not normally do it. Professions in wow completely do not exist anymore and I do not know why Blizzard is keeping it up. Order System is a big giant failure and whoever created it in this company should be disciplinary fired for destroying the company's flagship product - in a word, such a person is a developer and/or designer and planner loser. After 18 years of playing I know that I already 95% will not buy the expansion because why. There are already dozens of other, better, developed and with modern graphics engine products than the fallen and destroyed by blizz WoW. Don't waste your time on the game and pre-paids, don't let them make the last bucks because as you can already see from the lag in the game they don't even have the money to maintain the servers.
This is not only about Tailoring, it have a place in every area except farming in Wow. But... for what farming if production and crafting is useless :)
Regards
