Taurens will be allowed to become Paladins in Cataclysm, the Pre-release event explaining this is found in Thunder Bluff.
A Tauren is talking to another about the similarity between Elune and the Earth Mother as a deity, and that she must exist in the sun, as the Earth Mother exists in both - or something like that!
This dialogue event is near the Druid Trainers in Thunder Bluff.

To Iunayah: Elune and the Earth mother are actually the same being, if you follow the night elf and tauren religion, you will see it converges at the same point - Elune the Moon godess and Malorne the great stag.
Its like having 2 different names for the same thing!

In warcraft 3, tauren were portrayed as being about as war-crazy but honorable as the orcs were. They were even trained from the altar of sacrifice, with a big bloody stone in the center. The tauren melee troop had a brash voice and a very vicious personality - the tauren hero acted with wisdom and was more similar to WoW tauren, but still they took a huge pacifist whack in WoW. That was the first thing I immediately noticed about the tauren.

It still doesn't make much sense. Sun-worshiping shouldn't lead to a pally, which worships the deity or power collectively known as "the light," with more real-world religious ties, whereas sun-worship is very pagan in nature. If they couldn't play shaman, sun-worship would justify that.

If horde needed another pally, it should have gone to the undead.

This isn't the real world, this is Azeroth.

The Earthmother has two eyes, the sun and the moon, and they have only really payed attention to the one eye, being the moon. Cataclysm calls for some change and the other eye of the Earthmother has always been there, so it is not too far fetched that they start to worship them separately, at least not as far fetched as an Undead paladin.

It would be sensible that the forsaken, free of the lich king's grasp, may return to their paladin ways rather than the hatred and revenge of a death knight.

The light "breaks" them though. The reason why undead can be holy priests and are categorized as humanoid are for gameplay purposes.

And the Tauren call their deities Mu'sha (Moon) and An'she (Sun). Up untill recently, the Tauren have only really payed attention to Mu'sha, who could also be Elune. If that's so, then An'she may be the Naaru, which would give a good explanation.

There are plenty of examples of the opposite in quests given by the Forsaken. Many quest givers refer to their past.
Like in To Steal From Thieves the quest giver says the following:

"The harlot! The swine! Kenata still lives; her family healthy and prospering while I suffer. Forsaken indeed!

My family is gone, taken by the plague. Our estate also forfeit; looted and burned during the war. And after all that, her and her lousy children had the audacity to steal the only precious belongings I had left."

Sounds like she remembers her past life just fine.

When Cataclysm comes out, Tauren will have Paladins, therefore they will have access to all 4 tanking classes in the game (Warriors, Paladins, Druids and Death Knights).
This is pretty awesome due to the fact they have a passive racial +5% health increase :)

Tauren Rouges? In my opinion will be an epic fail.
Tauren are supose to be a noble race, ¿ A rouge is noble?.
Even blizz reconogize em' as the "Play dirty" class, a tauren will rip his/her/ horns if they get rouges.

Edit: if you ever wanna see a tauren in stealth, do the next things

1) get a druid tauren

2) get somthing than transforms you. ( 铁靴烈酒 in my opinion, the most easiet to get.)

do the next:

Transform into cat.
use the transformation item.
use prowl.
Debuff the transformation item

and ta-dah! Tauren in stealth!

Old Tauren intro (Pre-Cataclysm):
Once a nomadic people, the tauren roamed the endless plains of the barrens, hunting the mighty kodo. So i was playing the trial (Very VERY long time ago almost 7 years (I had several pauses that are equal to 2/3 years my only "hardcore" time was in The Burning Crusade.) And i had to decide to choose a race and class. I was looking at the orcs and thought yes i wanna be like thrall from wcIII. Then i saw it. The Tauren. I was sold. I chose it because, hey noone wants beef with a tauren right? So now i had to choose a class. I thought of shamans but went with warriors because i didn't know $%^& about magic. I JUST WANTED TO SMASH THINGS WITH BIG MACEEEE.. So i spawned in the grassy lands of mulgore. I was hooked. I have made only 3 characters in the coming years. 2 of them are Tauren. And all of them are horde. I also made a Undead Warlock which i played the full period of The Burning Crusade. Why do i like Tauren the most? Obviously it is herbalism skill... No it is the big ass shoulder plates that made me enjoy playing a tauren. I was a alchemist (DUUUH) and always had stacks and stacks of Potion of Giant Growth. I just like big weapons and big shoulder plates. The stun is ok. Its useful for that wtf moment. Or if you are a death knight you can perform a "Anti" charge. The health increase is really good. And the nature resistance is really good also. So whats the downside of a tauren, for most people it is the herbalism skill. Alchemy does not increase your stats permanently. But as a war the healing potion is nice. Now the best thing of a tauren is /dance for sure. It is very funny and a herd of taurens dancing is the best thing ever. Tauren can also be priests now in cataclysm. I find that offensive because of cloth. In the past if you saw a tauren with cloth you laughed at that person and called him a ^&*!$# &*!@#$%. it just doesnt look right. Taurens with pajamas. Tauren do have a tail. Which is also funny. And taurens also have horns. Which is absolutely awesome as a Death Knight. Taurens are for me, the best race ever. And i do believe everyone loves taurens. Except that a lot of retarded/stupid people play tauren. Which has set the stereotype of this specific race to: Bag of Grass-eating Hamburgers that don't know the difference between eating grass and defeating a raid boss. In mid/end wotlk i decided to Resurrect my Tauren Warrior as a Death Knight. Now as for lore, i dont care a lot about every single lore for every single thing. I like the story of the orcs and fel energy and i like the story of death knights for the rest: I could not care less. As for a tauren death knight i find the lore a bit blurry. You were raised after a life of grasseating, bananadancing and failpulling fun to a class so dark, so against nature that it makes your former tauren brothers cry. Aside from the Demon looking horns you can get, the race doesnt feel dark enough for a death knight. But it totally is better then @#$%^ made elves. Conclusion: Evil Taurens are Evil and prefer Meat from their fallen enemies over grass. Also, best race ever. Other races are just.. Not on a cow level! (Hybrid Race Quotation Created)

Both as a big fan of the Bloodhoof Tauren, but also from a general point of view, I must say that the Tauren received the greatest improvements to the character models at the launch of patch 6.0. Their fur is so smooth and their faces are immaculately expressive, similar to the way they built the pandaren. The Tauren as we know them have always been peaceful and passionate about the natural wonders that the Earthmother created, and now their faces truly show it! My main may not be a Tauren now as I chose to become an Orc and fit in with Warlords of Draenor. I feel that an Orc fits being a leader in a garrison better than any other race, but the Tauren is definitely the most beautiful race available to be played in World of Warcraft. My first character in WoW was the Tauren Druid in April 2005 and the majesty of Thunder Bluff baffled me; this is not something you saw in games back then! Hail the Earthmother and may peace go with you, Tauren!

To all of those who have never played a tauren before and are interested in race changing into one, ensure you utilize the model viewer beforehand. The tauren, most notably the females, are notorious for their terrible helmet rigging and sizing. Your beloved transmog may not look so good on one of the big cows, so ensure that you'll be happy with how you look before you pay the money to swap!

The idea behind the Tauren is most probably from Greek mythology: The Minotaur.

The Minotaur’s appearance is like the Tauren, a bull with the body of a man. Also the name Taur means ”bull” in ancient greek, which is fitting as both the Minotaur and Tauren are of course just that.

Tips about playing/race changing to tauren:

1) people WILL moo at you. every day. all the time. be sure to /moo back. don't disappoint your audience.

2) prepare for an endless stream of cow, beef, milk, steak, burgers, udders, and cheese jokes. don't try to fight it--just go with it. it's unavoidable, so have fun with it.

3) if you aren't ready for constant cow puns, you aren't ready for tauren life. it's a daily thing. best advice: embrace them. learn to love them. otherwise you'll be annoyed all the time.

4) you'll never be named first in a "who's the hottest race" discussion. you probably won't be last (that's typically reserved for dwarves, goblins, or gnomes), but you'll never top the charts.

5) your transmogs will look different due to your large size and odd skull shape. some helmets look bizarre on tauren; others look downright terrible. be sure you can deal with this.

6) male tauren are huge. the ladies are big too, but the guys are enormous. if you're used to playing a goblin, gnome, dwarf, or fox, the difference in appearance might take getting used to.

7) male tauren have the appearance of moving very slow and derpy. they don't actually run slower, but they appear to, so don't let that bother you. if it does bother you, play female--they don't have this optical illusion.

8) we don't have a large variety of appearance options like other races do. if you like high customization, don't expect it from the moo-moos. we don't get pink mohawks or glowing tattoos.

9) if you just want a gathering alt, tauren druid is the best. you can instant mount (flying or running), you can gather herbs without breaking your travel/flight form, and you can herb very quickly because of our racial ability.

10) you will find other players who adore tauren. befriend them and share the joy. you can identify these folks by their lovely bovine names, such as Protroast and Barngoddess.

11) once in awhile you'll encounter tauren-haters who are vocal about disliking our people. ignore them--they're just jealous. and they probably play a gnome alt.

12) the Highmountain are our friends and allies. never discriminate against the mountain cows. embrace them. we're all in this together.

13) occasionally you'll meet a witty person asking if he can milk you. handle this situation at your own discretion.
