This quest was teh same way, I ran out there and i swam to the first small island and kill one and it dropped first try.

It's longer to get there than killing things.

This is madness. Spent an hour and a half last night searching and killing Oracles and an hour today and got nothing. Killed like 30 Oracles. Gets abandoned instantly!

not counting the people who are just getting lucky this quest is insane. you can search for hours with tracking on and still only find 1 or 2. then when you do kill them its not a guarenteed drop.

Remember - to get the Oracles to spawn - you need to kill the others as well. They all share the same spawn pool.....

this has to be the worst quest ever! spent over an hour and a half killing mobs and no drop...however if you wanna give it a try to see if your luckier than i...it seems the oracles spawn the most around the cord 28,5...ofcourse watch out for the 39elite giant that seems to like to roam that island =)

Horrible horrible quest. These are my least favorite of all. As if it's not bad enough that this is a random drop from a specific mob type, but the mob type itself is a random spawn! Killed everything on that island TWICE and never even got a stupid Oracle to SPAWN, let alone drop the quest item.

Only do this quest if you happen to be at that island for the other 2 quests there, and only if there's already an Oracle or 3 on the island. If not, it's not worth the trip, and not worth killing everything in sight never to even see the quest mob for it to not drop the item.

1st oracle I found dropped one. I was actually doing hte Other Fish to Fry quest and clam bait and knew the oracle was around, and pop. Im at 34,22 right underwater..

I may have a theory on how to get the crystal to drop.

I just finished the quest with my 42 shaman and it also took me forever. I killed around 20 oracles... Being alot higher level then the mob, I was killing them before they could really do anything. It finally did drop when I decided to let an oracle strike me a few times and cast it's healing totem.

I have never heard of drop circumstances behaving in this manner, so I would say further testing is needed as it's possible that it may have been sheer coincidence. Nonetheless, I figured I'd throw it out there in case someone else is having troubles.

A fair warning: this quest will make you hate WoW. This quest will make you hate humanity. This quest will make you want to punch a baby.

Most of the nagas are underwater, the drop rate of the oracle crystal is low, the spawn of the oracles is shared with that of all other slitherblades, and, should you die, the corpse run is longer than you'd expect.

However, if you are really intent on completing it, here's what you should do.

First, know that to get oracles to spawn, you must kill other nagas. Fighting underwater, even if you have water breathing, is not a good idea: all the nagas run away when wounded and they swim faster than you.

You should fight on the two islands I tagged here:

Clear one, swim to the other, clear it. Go back and forth like this and you'll eventually get the item.

This is best done alongside Claim Rackmore's Treasure and Book of the Ancients.

Went to first island and there was an Oracle up, killed it, got my drop.......done. I killed maybe 4 other mobs getting there.

Did this at lvl33 as hunter, pretty much stayed on the island around 28,8 (for people without coords thats the bigger island at the very top and a fair way off the mainland.

Got the item off my third oracle kill.

Swam to the small island, 3 Oracles showed up on tracking. Killed one, crystal dropped. =)

The quest was green to me. Sometimes I wonder if quest difficulty relative to your level has anything to do with drop rates.

Thanks, your comment was very helpful, in fact i enjoyed doing this quest together with those you mentioned, moreover i didn't know about Claim Rackmore's Treasure and Book of the Ancients quests existence.

As for The Corrupter quest, i guess i was lucky, the oracle was dropped with 3d or 4th kill.

Also be aware there's a level 40 elite giant called Deepstrider Searcher that wanders over Ranazjar Isle (the larger island in the Northwestern corner). So don't go /afk for a long period.

Look, guys. Noone cares if you got it on first, second or tenth kill, so please stop informing us. For every one that gets it on first kill there's a poor guy with 50 kills and no drop. I see this in almost every quest thread and it's not really adding anything to the subject.

before i punched any babies, i went to 1 of the island for a try. and because of the pre-quest, i killed everything else for oracles to spawn. therefore all i saw down the water were oracles! and there were about 20 of them around the two islands. i randomly picked up a combat with 1 oracle, and it dropped. i think it was just my day :)

I've just finished the corrupter (4), clam bait and other fish to fry at the same time and the same area. All of them is around the same isle (32,23).

Other fish to fry: Nagas are located at the deepest parts, sorceresses are nearer to the surface and the rest are in the surface and on the island.

Clam bait: Soft shelled clams are all over the see but you also can find a lot of them around the isle. In addition, some creatures also may drop that item.

The corrupter: Oracle is hanging around the north side of the isle, and almost on the surface.

Arrived at 27,12 - There were 2 oracles - killed them both, one dropped the crystal and the other dropped the golden key for the Rackmore's Treasure quest

34, 32. Killed a half dozen Slitherblades and got the drop. The Oracles hang around the base of the small island with the ruined gazebo.

This quest is not as bad as it sound in some of the comments above, There were a Oracle around (28,13) just of the island, Killed it, waited for it to respawn, (did this 5 times) then she dropped it!!!! JUST be on the lookout for the L39 Giant(Elite) wandering around in the area, he WILL crush you, did me 395+ damage every strike.

Very first kill, got it. Swam out to the island, saw Slitherblade Oracle, killed her, got the item, swam back.
Confirmed coords: 28.5 (island).

this quest is indeed not as difficult as it seems. I know that some ppl have a lot of trouble but i paired the quest with others so i had to kill those others Slitherblades to. I fount the oracle emediately. Still wish good luck to the rest

This quest aint all that hard as the comments say above. Just go to 28,14 (desolace) and search for some oracles. They are just naga's like the others, kill a few, and you're done.

What I did was to clear the island at 28.7 (Ranazjar Isle) and wait for respawn. Then I dont have to be in the water

Oracles seem to spawn on the S side of the Ranazjar Island under the water. I easily found 2-3 at a time in this area.

Either i got lucky or blizz fixed it.
Co-ords were right. Killed one mob, spawned an oracle which dropped the quest item. Took about 30 seconds.

My third time around on this quest instead of the head bashing grind, first kill first drop.

Found out I was killing the wrong type of mob for the orb. I swam a little more and spotted 2 oracles. 1st one dropped it.

I just ground out killing everything in sight for about 45 minutes in order to respawn the 4 or 5 Oracles I was able to detect around/between the two outer islands. It didn't help that there were 2 others doing the same -- whether for the same quest/stage, I don't know. But the effect was the same -- fewer oracles to track down and kill.

Wore me out. I won't abandon the quest (yet). I'm to sado-masochistic to do that. But I'm going to hit the Battlegrounds and kill a few Alliance to vent my frustration. Then I'm going to find my way to Swamp of Sorrows (wherever the heck that is!) for another quest. I'll probably come back to this one when I can kill the Level 33-34's in 2 or 3 hits, and knock out half a dozen or so between heal sessions.

P.S. Underwater? Not bad if you're a Druid with your Aquatic Form. Hate trying to do this with my Orc Warrior!

So I was standing on the big island, killing nagas and looting corpses. I was there for about and hour and a half then I gave up. On my way back to the shore I found an Oracle so I thought "Meh what the hell" killed it a lo' and behold my crystal! This q will take you awhile, but if your rested its good xp.

I think it's better as well. I got it on the third Oracle I killed, though I did run back and forth between the islands looking for them. Two were underwater (one of which dropped the Oracle) and one was on the big island. Good luck!

Good idea was suggested earlier about not fighting underwater, but instead of hopping from island to island just go to the big one and knock out as many naga as possible. You'll definitely make a few Oracles spawn. Bear in mind that Oracles look identical to the Sea Witches. Got the item on the second Oracle kill.
