Excluding the odd Pterrordax Hatchling, the pets who can use this attack are all of the roaches and all of the beetles. The description specifically says roaches will not die. But every beetle can use this, as they have the exact same moveset as the roaches. So my question is, do the beetles survive the apocalypse as well?
Yes, beetles do not get damage like cockroaches.
is far superior for an Apocalypse team build to any other "roach" in the game, as it is the only one that has a self-heal (
). Combine with a team healer (like
for example) and switch back a couple turns before it hits (just in case your healing pet is rooted) for best results. Note that Apocalypse nearly always misses when the casting roach is dead.
The damage of this WILL be reduced by
so magic pets must be below 40% health to kill them.
If any pet use this ability again when there are already meteors on the field, the turn will reset to maximum (15 turns)
I got my Nether Roach to level 20 today and was really excited to use this ability. I cast it right off the bat and then decided I wanted to capture the third pet that was out so I stalled on the second. I switched my Nether Roach back in 2 turns before it hit and used Survive to make sure that he wouldn't die before it hit. When the meteors fell it killed my Nether Roach even though survive was still active and roaches are supposed to not be killed. Does anyone know if survive has to be off cool down when the meteor hits for the "roach" to survive?
TL:DR Using this ability killed my Nether Roach WTF
I just had a Resilient Roach use this in the very first round. I took a risk and tried to capture the third pet, a rare Crunchy Scorpion. Time ran out and Apocalypse hit. And missed me. And missed the scorpion. I caged him the next round.
Moral of the story, this ability can miss.
Edit: This ability misses when the casting pet is dead. How it is affected by something like
, I don't know.
One of the worst damage dealing abilities if you hit once every 20th battle with it you should be happy !
It seems that if you capture a pet and then Apocalypse hits and kills all active pets, you still get credit for winning and keep the captured pet.
My celestial dragon just survived this - twice. How odd ...
Worst ability ever. Wasn't exactly sure how it works so I experimented with it for the Payne fight to take out the bear. I started with a rare nether roach lvl 25, casted apocalypse and switched to a drake with self-heal that can stall for ages. Just before the round when apocalypse was supposed to ht I switched to the nether roach which took a hit from the bear but otherwise was fine so around 65% health. Apolalypse hits, nether roach DIES, apocalypse misses the bear!
I lol'ed, i mean wtf....
From the comments here it is obvious to me that this ability needs LOTS of work before it's viable. Still freaking awesome though ^.^
If an opposing battle pet uses a cleanse ability(Such as the Nexus whelplings Sear Magic ability)than apocolypse falls as soon as they use it.I found this out to my dismay as i was trying to catch one of them. Not sure if it works the other way around but theres only one way to find out:)
5.3 changes list this as having a 100% hit chance. Presumably it can still be dodged/avoided thou.
cannot be avoided by
Surprisingly enough though,
not only protects your pet from death, the ability actually 'misses' your pet.
Apocalypse kills the Pterrordax Hatchling.
It sort of makes sense.
Isn't this a bug where it won't kill Magic family members?
It would appear that the ability has a 100% hit chance...
...unless the caster dies.
Though I could have just had an unbelievably bad string of horrible luck, I missed Apocalypse
4 times in a row
trying to kill a Beast of Fable, the only one that gives me trouble. My strat has always been to ensure the roach survives - but I allowed him to die each time knowing that I can survive the burst until Apocalypse counter finished.
The only times I have ever seen Apocalypse miss is if the Caster is dead, or if your Active Pet dies on the turn that triggers it. In my experience, both of these conditions seem consistent.
EDIT: Correction, it seems Apocalypse can still strike the enemy even if your Active Pet dies on that turn. Maybe it alters hit chance? *shrug*
This only does half to the Celestial pets.. so ya pretty worthless vs them now
Currently takes 2 turns to activate in beta.
20 Turn Cooldown
100% Hit Chance
Calls down a meteor, which will fall 2 rounds from now, instantly killing all active pets.
Cockroaches and Beetles always survive this attack.
Ye... Seems rather OP
It's back to original duration (15 rounds)
Does this ability affect second life of the Undead pet?
(i know, this is difficult to test)
Anyone else finding the ability to keep on "Missing" eventhough its 100% chance to hit?
3 times in a row i tested this and it keeps missing. (there were no buffs/debuffs to affect its hit rate)
Noticed an interesting effect when Apocalypse went off while my
Puppies of Flame
up. While the Corgi did die, all of the extra puppies stayed alive and continued damaging the opponent on the next couple turns while surrounding my next active pet.
Despite whatever it says about hit chance, this ability can indeed miss.
Deeeeestroy them all!
Pet battle responsibly.
