The fountain in Dalaran's Runeweaver Square now dedicates the heroes who fought against the Lich King.

The top center statue is most likely Tirion Fordring with the Ashbringer, while four statues (two of Alliance Humans and two of Horde Orcs) surround the lower base.

If a player clicks on the plaque, they will be provided with a cut scene showing the final moments of Arthas Menethil and the crowning of the new Lich King.

Obviously, the new Lich King is the one and only, Highlord Bolvar.

I'm assuming that this monument replaces the fountain only once someone has killed the Lich King on the server, since it is not on all realms at the moment.

Also, screw you Vortal ad! Stupid thing keeps abducting my cursor while I'm typing, and it's incredibly obnoxious.

I was walking by and saw golden people around the fountain...then saw the plaque and clicked. (in-game cinematic.) This is very awesome addittion.

If you look good after you can see the remains of Frostmourne on the statue.

Anyone know if it changes based on what lich king you kill from 10 man to heroic 25? Tho that would be cool I don't see blizz doing "cool" things that STAY in the game often now.

Naw, because no matter how many players you bring, the same result occurs. 10/25 (and heroics) are meant purely for better gear and more achievements. They rarely figure into lore.

The statue depicts Tirion Fordring holding the Ashbringer, above multiple warriors. It reads:

Dedicated to those that fell to the Scourge during the War in the Frozen Wastes

Upon right-clicking the monument, you can see the cutscene that is normally viewed upon defeating the Lich King, which wraps up the storyline of Arthas Menethil.

To those who have not beaten Arthas, but wonder why Frostmourne is shattered; when the Lich King is low on health, he wipes the raid. Tirion, who is present but incapacitated, manages to break free and shatter Frostmourne with the Ashbringer. The spirits escape from Frostmourne's grasp, the raid is resurrected, and Arthas' father's spirit is able to witness his son's final moments.

I don't get it, many new players to WotlK never defeated Arthas. All I wanted was to read what's written on the plaque, instead I'm shown a cut-scene of Arthas dying, without any spoiler warning whatsoever? Way to spill the beans!

The warriors are wearing the High Warlord/Field Marshal item sets.
These were the sets for the one that for the week was the highest rated PvP'er in the old system.

i found the quest in ice crown where you try to save the dude infected with the undead deasese more touchin then this cutscene.

I have an irrational hate of Tirion. I think its mainly because hes got so "Oh look at me I'm freakin epic because I stole Darion's sword. Everyone come to Icecrown in fight in my tournement! Rawr! I'm gonna kill the Lich King all on my own!"

And now he erects a statue in my favourite city, depicting HIM as the saviour of Azeroth when he spent the whole time trapped in a freaking Ice Block.

I prefered him when he was a hermit.

One of the major steps to WoW lore's success it tugs on your heartstrings. Arthas dying in the arms of the father who he murdered and forgave him anyway. It has you feeling sorry for Arthas as he rasps "Is it over?" and the sense of accomplishment you should have for "beating wotlk" is overshadowed by your pity as he "sees only darkness" as he dies.

Would be awesome if they had statues of the actual players that had participated in the realm first downing. Would have needed a lot bigger monument though...

This statue seems to have taken its original form as of 5/13/13 on US-Arathor. Oddly enough, when you run through the water you get stopped by invisible objects where the Horde and Alliance statues normally sit. Not sure why this would be changed as it would have no relevance in 5.3 as Dalaran is time locked even throughout 5.1. Possibilities are a glitch while Blizzard was making their patches or the less likely, Jaina was mad that it contained Horde images and removed the whole thing. Probably the first.

The statue is now a fountain. The signs/plaques still play the cinematic.

Today (Thursday) it's the old statue of Tirion and the others, but yesterday it was definitely the fountain. I was on my main on Gilneas each time, so I came here to see if anyone knew why. Not a bid deal, but I'm really curious. Maybe it reverts to a fountain after Tuesday realm resets until someone downs Arthas again?
