Just completed an otherwise smooth heroic run, only to find out that for all party members this chest was an "invalid target". Very disappointing. A few of us filed petitions but we'll see if the GMs can do anything. Posting here because wondering if this has happened to others or if there's any way to fix it.

Someone tried running all the way out and back in; someone else tried relogging; neither of those worked.

I had this problem as well. One of my friend in the guild said that it is because everyone clicked greed/need before looting the chest.

So the fix would be to have EVERYONE in the party looting the chest and getting their emblems before actually clicking need/greed. I tried it out several times and it indeed does work.

Can also get Journeyman's Backpacks from these. I do have a screenshot of proof. This was off Heroic mode.

I just got a blue leather bag (8 slot) out of this chest. There's nothing special about it, but it certainly is extremely odd.

How happy am i now, i soloed the normal as an 81 hunter but sure didn't look for a chest after :(

It looks like the pin is located outside Stratholme, but the location of this chest is inside stratholme. It appears in the same square where Mal'Ganis is after you killed Mal'Ganis.

its funny how the royal crest which is what i need has the highest drop rate supposedly of the epics and ive done this 8 times n heroic and every single time the stupid mail leggings which has the lowest drop chanced dropped 7 of 8 times and 1 time the fist weap

loot is totally rigged to pis you off i bet if i do this on my DK itll drop 1st time

So i just killed Mal'ganis and it wouldn't even let me open the dark runed chest. Very confused.

Just had it happen to me today where the chest is not able to be opened. Level 90 elemental shaman alliance solo, after defeating the final boss was unable to even click the chest let alone loot it. Really sucks when you are looking or something specific from it, and can only do heroics once a day.
