You'll find these next to a row of several ethereal energy gates arranged so that their arches form a tunnel, which contains a haze of pink mist. The Proton Accelerator Controllers themselves are quite small, and placed near one end of the row of gates. They require an Acceleration Module to activate. The controller despawns once you summon the mob and respawns when the mob is defeated or despawns (as can be the case with early attacks).
