Easily soloable on normal mode at level 100 if you have at least heroic dungeon gear. Maybe even less. You can slip past the lvl 92-94 mobs leading up to him and even after him.
During the fight, simply attack
down to 50% hp or less while strafing in a wide circle to avoid the first flaming arrow barrage (He will yell "Start the funeral pyres!"). Immediately nuke Nok'gar when he is dismounted from his wolf (<=50%), preferably saving your CDs for this part. Make sure you switch to Nok'gar, or you will waste more dps than necessary on Dreadfang, who does not need to be killed!
He will use
to fear you twice if you hit him, with a short window in between each. Around this time he will cast the 2nd/final arrow barrage. It's a good idea to break the fear at this point or you will be caught in the flaming arrows too long. If you can, throw your biggest heals after second fear. I used Lay on Hands as a ret pally, for example. If all goes well, you will have more hp than him at this point, and since you out-dps him, it's a sure thing.
Why farm him? He drops:
All 3 parts for
For more Scraps, don't forget to walk up to the three huge iron stars after this boss and let them loose. Nok'gar needs to have been killed in order for them to activate.
In all, each run can be completed in less than 5 minutes and you can reset the dungeon several times before a brief lockout.
As a shaman, you and your party can fight right through the
if you drop a
right before it's cast.
Maybe I'm just having a bad luck streak but upon killing him 35 times today all I got was one crusted pauldrons (went there for 2 belts). Either it's been nerfed or I'm just unlucky. Has anybody had similar problems recently or was it all fine?
Edit: 50 kills and still at 1 pauldrons.
I'm relatively sure that something about this boss fight is not working as intended in M+ as of the start of Season 4 in Shadowlands.
Did the encounter a couple minutes ago, 1 Tank, 3 Melee DPS, 1 Healer. Once the wolf reached 50%, it stopped moving for a moment, then floated towards a random player, causing near-instant death to anyone even remotely close.
Hitbox of its "Shredding Swipes" seemed to be ~10 meters horizontally in front of it. The wolf pretty much oneshot any of us that did not immediately get behind it when it started the move.
Warrior DPS was hit four times for 21k, hits occured 1.5 seconds, 0.5 seconds, 0.2 seconds before death and then the killing blow at 0.0 seconds according to death recap. (This was on our kill attempt)
On our first wipe, death recap stated that I - Rogue DPS - was hit twice for 29k damage, first hit at 0.02 seconds before death, second hit was killing blow at 0.00 seconds.
Considering that it's a mechanic that seemed to not be telegraphed at all and that has no cast time, this seems unreasonably punishing. I also don't remember it hitting that hard back in WoD.
