One of the August Celestials, Chi-Ji is the bird of the South.
The August Celestials are a reference to the four guardians of the compass directions in Chinese mythology: the dragon in the East, the bird in the South, the tiger in the West, and the turtle in the North.
It doesn't match up
the same with the myth, since in WoW the tiger is in the North and instead of a turtle there's a Western yak. But still, it's obviously meant to be a reference.
I found him laying on his side in the Temple of the red crane, and find it odd that he says "Hope is eternal" as one of his sayings for goodbye, yet the text in his read dialog box states: "<snip> ... All is lost". Never met a bi-polar bird before.
Anyone else think he kind of sounds like a Blood Elf?
The first time you meet
, when he's struggling with giving in to the
in the basement of the Temple of the Red Crane, you see him lying on the floor in the center of the room.
Much of the floor is decorated in a circle with tile that looks like green jade, carved into a flower (lotus?), with four cranes in the center. It's an absolutely beautiful design, actually!
But since the Sha is here corrupting the area, the ornately designed circular area on the floor is seeping with black and white Sha --err...--
ambience? clouds? waves? energy?
The black and white Sha energy moves as waves, slowly from the outside of the circle in the floor
, ever so slowly to the center, where
lies motionless, corrupted.
it looks SO COOL. It's so
mesmerizing! It looks like the green jade flower part of the floor is slowly being consumed and pulled downward, down into the Shabyss.
I can't stop looking at it!
But I should, because it's
setting off my motion sickness, which I basically never get from video games...
