This is a very fun fight. You follow Illidan around for a bit clearing trash and he gives you a buff that increases your crit chance to 100%. Once all the trash is cleared the boss comes out and you will fight the boss with Illidan. Note: the 100% crit buff comes from the shadow cloak that stacks to 30 over time. The crit buff will remove once you use all 30 stacks. Re-entering stealth will restart the stacks at 1.
: The tank will get a stacking debuff that increases all damage by 10% per stack. This is a gear check ability so if you can't kill the boss in the allotted time your tank will eventually die. So starting the fight with an AFK or when people aren't ready isn't a good idea.
: The boss will cast fel flames on a random player
but it seemed like mostly the melee was targetted.
Fire will appear under you and you need to move out of it.
: The boss will randomly put fel decay on a player that does about 40k intial dmg and 8k every second for 10 seconds . Anytime you heal this player you will take damage equal to 100% of the amount healed. You don't necessarily need to wait it out, but it helps save some mana if you find your running out of mana. Note: I haven't had any issues with mana as of live. I do suggest healing through the players and your own damage or risk a player dying to fel flame.
At 60% the boss will stun everyone and start doing some aoe damage. You can pop a dmg reduction CD prior to the ability and reduce some damage.
After the drain, the boss will go invisible and everyone will enter stealth. After a few seconds a bunch of eyes will spawn and you just need to dodge them. successfully dodging them will cause the boss to take 25% extra damage for 15 secs. Failing to dodge the eyes will cause the boss to stun you for 8 sec and increase his attack speed by 100% for 15 secs. Since everyone spreads out during the eyes, tanks will normally not be close enough to taunt him off you in time and you may die.
At 20% boss goes into a frenzy and you need to burn him down.
Tip: Because you start the fight with 30 stacks of shadowcloak (100% crit), you'll enter the 60% phase rather quickly especially if your group is using their hardest hitting abilities to make use of the 100% crit. During the Eye phase you'll start gaining more stacks of shadow cloak. The longer you evade the eyes the more stacks you'll get. Also, if your gonna use heroism/bloodlust/timewarp during this fight, use it after the eye phase. The first 60% goes by so quick that you'll end up losing out on the buff during the stun and eye phase.
Who shut down the portals? Clever little worms.
No mortal may stand before me and live!
Your essence... is MINE.
The shadows serve ME, now...
Nooooo... how can this be?
Nothing will stop me. Not even you, demon.
Your magic is pathetic. Let me show you mine.
Return to the shadows!
My strength returns.
The hunter became the prey.
You did well, but for now I must continue alone. Good hunting.

I'm liking the new threads on this Satyr. It makes him so fearsome!
Apparently, if you have Warglaves of Azzinoth in your bag after defeating this boss, Illidan whisper to you "You have powerful weapons. You are prepared."
Just a note for first-timers.
Failing the stealth phase will most likely not wipe the party, especially if a DPS gets caught.
Just have your healer ready with fast/big heals when they hear "I see you."
Easy/fast strategy: While this isn't a tough fight to heal, necessarily, you can lose a dps or (worse) a healer during the hidden phase. If the eyeballs find someone and you're not johnny-on-the-spot with big heals, they can go down.
Easy work-around. Just have the tank pop a minor cooldown and run into an eye intentionally. The tank will already have heal hots and is always under the careful eye of the healer anyway. Besides, with mitigation the boss attack on him is laughable.
**In my opinion, the only reason not to use this strategy is if you're going for the achievement. The extra damage the boss takes by being stunned is more than made up for by saving forty seconds because you just triggered the next phase immediately.
Are the eyes triggered through LoS or proximity?
I wonder..... there are two kind of 'circles' on the ground... if you stand in them you have a lot of damage.... There are the ones in the gras, so stay out of the gras, and the ones that are being set by the boss... DBM will say so and there is a slight warning before it comes, get out of that spot! But..... sometimes, there is something else to... i was standing in nothing, and still my health kept going down... how does this magic works ^^ ? Can somebody tell me, if you understand what i mean?
Another thing is that i died several times and then when i came in the the instance i died immidiatly... i also saw myself laying as a skeleton (ah poor me ^^), is this because my gear is totally worn off than? My item lvl= 367
Mages can Ice Block during the transition phase for some extra damage.
It won't work at first but keep hitting the button, you'll have a few seconds before he disappears.
Here's my Ice Block macro by the way:
#showtooltip Ice Block
/cast Ice Block
/cancelaura Ice Block
Cancels Ice Block on the second click.
Just be careful about spamming the button when you want the full duration.
This boss (and the achievement) -can- be soloed by a blood DK, although it is extremely difficult and requires pretty amazing gear and a bit of good RNG.
You use max consumables - prismatic elixir and mastery elixir, kings drums, runescroll etc. The stacking
debuff will eventually get to a point where
will hit for ~90-100K. Your goal is to push the boss to 60% before he casts the debuff a fifth time. Use strength pot before pulling, use DRW and ghoul early. DRW and ghoul benefit from the crit buff and will do considerable damage so usage of ERW is recommended here to push out as much damage as possible. You must AMS the Fel Decay debuff during his cast so it doesn't get applied to you. When AMS is down and the debuff is applied to you, Bone Shield and kite the boss as much as possible, as he stops to cast
frequently and won't be meleeing you during this time, and will take a couple seconds to reach you again. You must avoid using Rune Tap / Death Pact when this debuff is on you as both will be completely wasted due to the debuff causing you to take damage equal to the amount healed. Death Strike only. If you are very lucky, the Corrupting Touch debuff will fall off from avoiding his melee attacks during this phase.
When pushed to 60%, you get stunned and take some damage (but not enough to kill you,
removes any debuffs the boss had on you) and restealth. Vamp blood / bandage / rune tap immediately. Avoid the eyes for the 40 seconds needed. When the eyes despawn, immediately run to the middle, pop pot / any other offensive cooldowns such as second ghoul / DRW and blow him up while he's stunned, which lasts 15 seconds. After this the fight is a repeat of phase 1. When the boss casts
, use Army of the Dead. The Army ghouls will taunt the boss and hold aggro long enough for your Corrupting Touch debuff stacks to fall off. Once the last ghoul is dead, IBF and burn the boss to dead.
It took me 31 attempts to accomplish this and it was one of the most difficult fights I've soloed in quite some time.
All the trash prior to the boss is also soloable - the very first pull of the Felguard at the entrance is actually the most difficult mob to kill, as difficult as the boss himself. The subsequent trash is trivial due to the crit/damage buff.
! 10% extra damage on him, and with a bit of a lucky streak and use of Heroic Leap and Intervene, it's possible to reset his Corrupting Touch stacks.
Can i trick the eyes with feign death? my pet will be dismissed as well..
I was just crit for about 90k on my blood DK by Peroth'arn, causing a wipe. Is there some glitch or ability he gets that would allow him to crit a tank?
A fun fact, Hunters can use Feign Death during the Eye's Stage. When Detected he will put the Detected Debuff on for it's duration however he will do No Damage to the Hunter. Tanks take advantage of this in order to keep healers Mana up.
Peroth'arn was the second satyr ever. After Xavius was "blessed" with the transformation by Sargeras, he turned other Highborne night elves into demons in his own image.
During the eye phase, abilities like feign Death and other stealth/aggro drop abilities no longer work. This makes the achievement for this boss , one of the harder ones of the HoT heroic dungeons.
If you manage to dodge all the eyeballs for 40s, the debuff with which he's afflicted is called
. That'd be a good time to pop some short cooldowns & really blow him up.
As a protection paladin, you can "skip" the hidden phase. I don't much care for running around all that time since a DPS or worse, a healer, seems to always get caught and killed.
Once the eyeballs spawn and start searching for you, run up to them and pop pally bubble. They simply vanish, in a very awkward/glitchy fashion, and Peroth'Arn reappears, allowing you to immediately finish the fight without him ever doing his "I caught you!" combo attack.
I haven't tried but I would assume a holy/ret paladin could do the same for the group, too.
Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that the percentages of the drops in the loot tables add up to 180%?
In 5.04 there is a known issue where Peroth'arn will not respawn after a wipe.
Isn't it peculiar, that I've done this fight with my dwarf tank (who would have use for the gavel this guy drops) 17 times, and still haven't seen it drop...
So... what's up with the RNG?
Regards, Angry Tank
FYI, Pay attention to Illidan saying he's "Waiting to attack." and "Patience is not one of my virtues."
We lost a tank due to DC and it's tough to get tanks to queue in for Well of Eternity since they have to have End Time completed.
Sat there for about 5 minutes waiting on the queue. Illidan then decided he was done waiting and attacked Peroth'arn on his own, starting the fight.
We were locked in by a wall of fire and couldn't run to zone so we ended up wiping.
So if you need to wait for more players in a queue, don't do it in Peroth'arn's courtyard.
Is this bugged? I attacked Peroth'arn then the eyes appeared now there's an invisible, immune Peroth'arn attacking me. I vanished and the NPC is still attacking Peroth'arn but neither is taking damage.
I fixed this by dieing and trying again. Boss died as it should.
Do NOT kill him too fast.., it will bug the dungeon quest.
