these guy are part of the quest "a champions breakfast" go to a mysterious snow mound and use the drum, either these guys or an iron dwarf will pop up. they have 2 special moves: acid spit, which does around 600 or 700 nature damage with 0 nature resistance, and sweep. it does damage and knocks you back quite far. the only thing they drop is the quest item and they are un-skinnable.

Despite what the Quick Facts box currently says, these cannot be tamed, even if you're eligible for Exotic pets. (Makes sense-- if it comes directly out of the ground, how is it supposed to run around willy-nilly like a normal pet?)

Maybe a reference to the book Dune from Frank Herbert, in which the sand-worms are attracted to the surface by rythmic sounds, like drumming.
