INCREDIBLY easy to solo as a mage, even without the mammoth mount. I started the fight by sheeping Moria...and Kaw was stuck riding his back, unable to do anything. He was dead before the polymorph wore off. :-)

Personally I believe, since Kaw is a tauren, That "Kaw" is a reference to Cow

Please, be advised that it's possible to spare the D.E.H.T.A quest Kaw the Mammoth Destroyer for a while, especially
when tactics to solo this quest is yet missing. You can also verify that your wooly mammoth bull serves you
as a mount in the whole wide Borean Tundra. It's fast and does all the trics a normal mount does+some more.
You may even like it so much that you want to take it to Kalimdor with you. This suits fine for the Zeppelin
personnel.(as you can see in the picture) It's ok to carry an elephant with you, if you prefer. Of course our
ways departed when the zeppelin arrived to Durotar, and there was left only Emote /e /cry .
It didn't seem to disturb the other boarded players with mounts at all:"Just some new kind of fashion..?"
Schwesterein lvl 70 undead warlock ps. I'd like to know how many Mammoths you can fit in to a single zeppelin?

Anyone know exactly what it is that triggers him to mount up and attack? Usually I can walk right up onto his platform without anything happening (already did the quest to kill him), but other times he attacks if I go anywhere near him.

My mount dies as I dismount him and I'm hacked to pieces by his minions, so I'm obviously missing something.

Just go and kill Moria and he comes down to protect her...get on a bull or have one nearby and he will stomp him to death....easy elite.

I started the quest as intended: jumped on a Mammoth, came near by him, aggroed him and thousands of his minions and...
...well, I'm a bit noob and my mammooth just died under my ass after a few seconds, so made up my mind and did what I'm designed for (I'm a 70 prot pally): kept fighting them all, all toghether.
Nice fight, even if not so hard: just keep your HS on, bubble once if in danger and keep hitting over and over again. I used SoV and BoS to keep mana up and deal massive damage at the same time.
Funny, but I wish I had killed him with my mammoth only! ;)

I find it very odd that some quests are marked as Group but others aren't. This one honestly could have been marked as a 2-player group quest. Nonetheless, I killed as many minions as I could without mounting a Mammoth, then mounted the Mammoth and promptly died fighting the boss and his Mammoth. Upon using my soulstone, I healed quickly and rez'ed my pet, and then took out the boss & mount (with my pet dying somewhere during that.) So be prepared for a big fight, but it's a good quest.

Sooo... all of the "my class is overpowered; this is how I solo'd it!" posts are old :P The following is my legit, OP-free way of doing this quest which can sometimes be a pain in the butt.

There's normally a Wooly Mammoth Bull hanging out near where the mob is. So I typically clear the minions by hand, then grab me a bull and approach the area -- which activates the mob, causing him to mount up on his mammoth. His mount CAN be feared (ability #3), so I use that along with a combination of charge (#2) and the hard-hitting melee attack (#1). By the time the mount is dead, I'm normally pretty low health (my mount, that is). The mob is immune to the fear, so don't bother using it. Try to strafe away (no backpeddaling!) and charge from a distance, as well as use the melee attack everytime it's available. By the time my mount dies, the mob is at approx 3-4.5K hp (I've done this lots of times :P) which I can then finish off easily. Good luck!

I am using Titan Panel and Bartender 4. When I got on the mammoth, I lost my UI - no quest bar, no buttons, no mini map, nothing. Had to log out and log back in. When I did, I lost the mammoth mount but I had my UI back. Someone else was killing Kaw just as I logged in and I could complete the quest from that player's kill.

This quest was extremely easy solo'd as a Level73 (affliction) Lock. I didn't use the Wooly Mammoth Bull, just my own spells (after dying twice). So I would suggest doing without the mount if you can hold aggro and take Level70 elites yourself.

No Lock-tricks either. No soulstones, no healthstones needed.

Also, you can stick around killing his minions for loot, silver and Nessingwary ears (or w/e they're called), which can be used for a daily and getting a couple Borean achievs (D.E.H.T.A.'S little P.I.T.A., Nothing Boring about Borean!, and the complete a daily 5 days in a row one, if you haven't gotten it yet.)

Not sooo easy to solo with a 70 frost dk, but nothing to worry for
someone that can proc a few diseases and later heal with
death strike.
I have 12084 armor and his crits were for 1400-1300
I don't wanted to die, so I first killed all kaw's guys in the area,
and his mammoth and then solo him, but I think that can be killed
without that "prevention".

As a level 72 rogue he was easy to solo. First clear all the minions and give yourself an area to fight him where no minions will come in a join the fight. You may have to re-heal after a few fights so bring bandages, potions, and food. Once you have cleared out an area to fight Kaw, go find a Mammoth near by. Ride the mammoth up to where Kaw stands. Once you enter combat he will run for Moria. Now run down to the area you previously cleared and fight him there. Using the 3 moves your Mammoth has is more than enough to kill Moria, and then proceed on to fighting Kaw and defeating him.

Just make sure when you target Moria while you are on your mount. I died a few times because I was using all of my mounts abilities on Kaw while he was mounted, which didn't do much.
