The egg is targetable, so a macro to target it works wonder:

/tar Golden Egg
/stopmacro
/run SetRaidTarget("target", 8)
/run PlaySound (8959, Dialog)

This one adds a marker (it shows very high from the egg) and makes a sound that only you can hear when it's found.

As for spawn points, in Elwynn Forest I've found three spawn points in The Stonefield Farm, all of them you can cover if you stay on the coords 32.60, 84.0 using the macro to find it.
