Ok, I've spent the last day or so farming him and here's my current understanding that should apply to him and the other similar rares that drop the druid form skin tokens.

Ristar's fastest respawn time seems to be 20 minutes from the last kill. For some time yesterday I sat there and got spawn intervals of 20, 20, 20 25, 35, 20 minutes. So it's not fixed, but I've never seen it take much more than a half hour, so it's easy to just plop your fuzzy butt down there and wait for him to turn up.

The respawn rate might be faster during prime time when more players are on, but I don't have enough data yet.

While people claim to have gotten the drop on a third kill on the same day, I'm suspicious that they killed him twice before the daily reset and then got the drop on their first actual kill of the day. In any case, the first kill of the day is definitely "special" and even though you can still get drops (possibly a base loot table based on his species or something) you may usually get no loot at all after the first kill. You can tell if you've killed him yet today because you will NOT get the rare marker on the minimap once you've killed him that day. Having made like 10 kills yesterday with no drop, I'm going to assume that the first kill likely has a much higher (possibly infinitely higher) drop rate for his "rare" items, so I really can't recommend repeated farming after the first kill of the day. This will apply to all of these rares.

Matriarch "Clowntalon" seems to have a bit longer base respawn time (but still probably not more than 30-40m), and Cian is even longer. as I've seen them the least.

Got the Mark of the Sable Dreamtalon after 4 kills, pretty lucky probably, but wouldn't be surprised if it turned out they aren't too rare considering I got the blue and purple/blue ones from the same blue dreamseed rather quickly as well.

In addition to dropping 暗裘梦爪獍印记, Ristar is also the only black and purple dreamtalon in game (as of current patch). This means he's going to be extremely popular with both hunters and druids: druids for the skin, hunters for the unique pet.

Thankfully Ristar seems to have a short respawn timer, so if you don't find him just keep checking back every now and then. At most it's likely an hour, at the least maybe around 20 minutes. It may also help to server hop, since that seems to also affect rares.

Once you've used the mark, the form is unlocked permantly for all druids (both horde and alliance). Additionally I noticed after taming Ristar on my hunter, he makes the baby raptor noise when clicked. This is obviously a bug, but it's pretty funny ngl.

Made a macro to check if you've killed the 6 druid rares already. Hope this helps my fellow druids with these farms!

I waited 20 minutes between tames, as a BM I have a set now.

To be kind to druids, I went late at night when there are less players online and no druid waiting for him to spawn.

After having Mosa and Ristar swiped out from under me by some selfish player (that'll teach me to have a real life to check on for even a minute), I encourage everyone to stop being generous and waiting for others. Apparently the new etiquette is to spot a rare with other people camping around it for 2 hours and just immediately down it before anyone can so much as touch it.

Getting real sick of the ignorance of the WoW community. They genuinely only ever think of themselves. Who wants to play with someone like that?

Had a Horde player do that and then just go back into stealth and stand there. Why? Not logging out, just... waiting. Like they're expecting the rare to show up again so they can kill it despite the fact you cannot loot it more than once per day. I'm just going to assume they're too stupid to know how the game works, because that's the image of themselves they've conjured up in my mind with their behavior: a selfish ^&*!@.

As I got down to my last two rares for the Druid marks I made the mistake of thinking that camping them was worth my time. It is not. I'm going back to logging out for 2 hours and checking back later. Usually when I do this and come back to it, no one is around, the rare has spawned and I can run off and get a few, if not all, of the other rares in a short span of time rather than sitting around for 2 hours on a shard patiently. I don't know why this game rewards not playing it so much, but why bother complaining about the system when I can just exploit it, I guess.

Shame, too, because the conversations you can have with other people waiting for Mosa and the others can be quite charming and reminds me of the older days of WoW when people had to cooperate and socialize a bit more (though in that same vein the mechanics were also set up for people to have to be selfish, too, since we had to fight over tagging enemies and so on).

It is what it is. Anyway, I say this to again tell people: don't camp rares. Log out, check back in later. It's far less exhausting, far less frustrating, and you will complete your collection of marks in a way that feels much faster despite technically taking more time (assuming you don't check exactly every hour or two). Save yourself some grief. Avoid people. Log out more.

After logging in one all three of my alts (giving about a couple hours each time since they're always on the same shard it seems) waiting at Ristar, and giving it a minute or two each time after logging in unless there's a corpse of Ristar sitting there, I finally managed to get my last mark today.

No more rare hunting in the Emerald Dream, I'm finally done.

I guess that just leaves World Drop transmog and Superbloom transmog farming which thankfully I can do on any and all alts over and over when I feel like it.

Maybe they changed the drop rate or I was very lucky. 21.10.2024, time is 23:52, the travel form transmog dropped from the first kill. Worth a try.

20 kills and still nothing. Why is the drop rate for the look so low.

Edit: been camping him daily and still nothing ( Jan 26 )
Will update again when I eventually get it.
