I think they will get a buff in 2.1
This fight sounds really awesome. I wish the Eye was an easier attunement than SSC.
How hard is he compared to SSC bosses?
Solarian drops 12 epic items -- two of them are still missing here:
* Ethereum Life-Staff (
* Girdle of the Righteous Path (
This is now pretty much a DPS fight because she will stack a debuff (Mark of Solarian) on the raid that reduces your AR that cannot be dispelled. It will contiously stack on the raid throughout the duration of the fight, the more stacks the less likely you are to survive.
As of now you only need 2 Arcane Resist tanks (sponges) with 500 AR unbuffed. The rest of the raid doesn't need AR, because it cuts DPS.
She is tauntable, but taunting her is now useless because she's very much like Aran, where her aggro is random. She will choose random targets to cast Arcane Missles onto including snakes and pets. Taunting her when she's channeling this will not switch the damage to the tank, she will ignore the taunt and continously fire at her present target. Thus making her untankable.
After 50 seconds, she will vanish, then 3 portals will spawn. Out of each portal will come 4 non-elite adds (Solarium Agents). They have aproxx. 20k hp, and hit for 500 on plate. 15 Seconds later Solarian, and 2 priests (Solarium Priests) will walk out of the portals. The priests have 75k hp,heal for about 22k, cast a Holy Smite and do an AoE silence, much like the Blood Elf racial. They can be silenced, stunlocked, (feared?) and must not be allowed to heal.
Her worst ability is the Wrath of the Astromancer, which places an arcane DoT on a random person, which ticks for 600 a sec for 8 seconds. Afterwards it will leave a debuff and jump to the next closest person. The DoT damage increases as the Mark of Solarian debuff stacks on the raid. This is why you have the AR tanks, who should be sitting next to each other away from the raid. If someone contracts the DoT, they need to run to the tanks, make sure they are only close to one (because the DoT might jump off from the other tank onto you) let the dot jump off, and run back to the raid before you get another.
At 20% she will turn into a giant void walker. She can be tanked now, and will fear people within melee range. Every 10 seconds she will cast Void Bolt, which is a shadow bolt that does 5k to her present target. At this point of the fight you've pretty much won
Apart from the arcane dmg the explosion deals, drops every raid member within 10-12 yd to the air like 50 or more yd :). Everyone not having some slow fall hability would die.
Easiest boss in TK as of 2.3. If your guild can down VR, you can easily down Astromancer, just let them know that bombs wipe raids. You do not need ANY arcane resist whatsoever anymore.
The trash is harder then she is, and im 100% serious.
No she is hard. Most because if one person can't move away from the raid, its a wipe. Its like Magtheridon. If one person dn't click a cube, raid will die.. And one person can wipe the whole raid several times for screwing up.
Solarian will occasionally attempt to melee whoever is highest on threat. Basically how it works is she will randomly choose a target for arcane missiles, however in the split second between casts, she will attempt to melee whoever would normally have aggro. In the event that this is a caster, she will move a little bit.
As a DPS warrior, she can crush me for 8k, and one of our rogues reported 10k.
To help prevent this, you can either have your tank(s) spam taunt whenever it is up to try and stay on top of aggro, or you can try and actually "tank" her using a Feral Druid in DPS gear.
Another thing we have tried that may help is to remove Salvation from your shadow priests, and encourage them to generate as much aggro as possible.
She's piece of cake.
We just watched the video of How to: Solarian. We downed her on our first night on the 5th attempt.
My guild killed her last night on our first night of tries. She's very easy, as long as people learn to get the freak away when they get wrath, and get the adds under control, she's dead. For the healers, here's a macro to help you quickly heal the target of her Arcane Bolts, as they do 9000 damage over 3 seconds if she is not taunted away.
/target High Astromancer Solarian
I have the macro reset the focus every time because when she disappears to summon adds, your focus is cleared and needs to be reset. Also, make sure only healers with a fast (1.5sec) heal are assigned to this, and have the rest ffa on the raid.
We downed her on our 2nd or 3rd attempt. They key is to bring strong dps, place quick heals on the arcane missile target and to have no one blow up the raid.
2-3 priests or palladins should be on missile duty - assist Solarian, then cast quick heals as in the macro above.
Everyone should have a tool such as deadly boss mods installed so they have a very clear warning when they need to run away from the raid. Either straff or fight facing away from the raid so you don't waste time turning. Do not run towards the tanks.
Yeah, thats what I use on rage winterchill to heal the one that gets ice trapped, never used it on Solarian, but should work nicely :D
As a side note for rogues, Mind-numbing Poison III works well on the priests
/tar High Astromancer Solarian
/cast Lesser Healing Wave
Pretty solid macro for Solarian, use it to target Solarian and focus on her. From that point as long you hit the macro without using any modifier keys (shift/alt/ctrl) you will allways heal Solarians target! If you hold down a modifier key and use the macro you will focus on a new target and then heal that new targets target instead!
Personally I just click it once and spam it to keep heals up on the people getting the Arcane Missiles and it's a win! If you are another class just replace
Lesser Healing Wave
with some other healing spell of yours! ;)
any benefits in useing Iceblock when you are a mage if you get Wrath of the Astromancer or would you just explode then?
Does anyone know the MPQ files for this boss, because according to wowwiki she says something as she goes into void mode, and they weren't with the rest of the solarian mpqs
= THE epic Stratvid for this fight. Don't forget to check
for the explanation, or you might be confused by the awesome video!
If you're an Engineer and don't trust some of your people not to move fast enough when they're the bomb,
can save your life in this fight.
It did mine. :]
Teleport: Every 50 seconds, Solarian will teleport away and spawn 12-15 Solarium Agents. After 15 seconds, she will return together with two Solarium Priests. this links are borken they are missing the ? before the npc=<npcnumbers> if a admin could fix it :)
Did this fight last weekend. Found that once your raid gets the bomb coordination down it's a fairly simple fight. I was assigned to heal the missiles (priest +2200 healing) and noticed while she is channeling she will target several people including pets.
/focus High Astromancer Solarian
/cast Flash of Light(rank 7)
I originally tried rank 9 but it ate my mana way to fast. I will most likely try rank 6 next time. I prefer the focus style which allows me to target others if needed. Target and focus are lost when she vanishes making the macro that much more helpfull.
(oh btw, the whole time I healed I was saying to myself "priest are not suppose to flash heal a raid") I think this is an exception to that rule :)
Her hitbox is HUGE and keep this in mind if you're playing a melee character as it will help you a lot with running out to avoid others getting killed.
Warlock or mage?Hmm....
I'm under the impression that Solarian does not like me. Don't get me wrong I've downed her several times, but the last time...
1. We engage, she immediately uses Wrath on me.
2. I Start running away and I explode.
3. She uses Blinding Light
Now at this time I should be barely alive (~1K hp left)
4. I die in midair.
I was totally confused, but then I saw arcane missiles hitting my body.
Obviously shes abusing steroids, how else would she be so huge. I'm calling the WoW boss commissioner to get this settled.
Just downed her today - our strategy:
Phase One - Caster:
We had some problems with people ignoring the WRATH and wiping us all, so I recommend installing Big Wigs. If that dosen't work, go to the EXTRA tab ---> to Flash'n'Shake and enable it. When you get the WRATH debuff your screen will flash blue and shake. After that, if a person wipes the raid due to wrath its time for /kick or they need their vision checked.
When Solarian vanishes and the Adds pop up make everyone gather in a specific spot. All the adds will group up as well and unleash your Paladin tank on it (If no Paly Tank just frost nova them and AoE). When Priests and Solarian pop up again send 2 melee to each priest, and casters continue on Solarian (If not enough melee finish off the Priests first). Repeat this process a couple more times and on to Phase Two. (20%)
Phase Two - Voidwalker:
Easy here, just Tank and Spank. Be warned of constant AoE fears in melee range, and you got it.
my guild (with me) just downed him few mins ago for the first time and went pretty easy. just all mind the BomB and RUN.
we had a bomb in the ranged man... the guy killed 16 other person's :)
Paladin bubble does not cause the bomb to explode. It safely cancels the debuff.
The bomb is the hardest part of this fight.
This boss is easy only if people move away from others when they are the bomb.
We had our raid leader mark people with the bomb (don't know the mod used), but had almost all the melee dps in our group wipe cause of one person who stood with all the other people and didn't see the skull over his person.
If explosion doesn't kill you, the fall will, which throws you up to the top of the room, which is killing distance.
Not trying to like get off the subject about this but what is her weapon?
Sorry i found it its just Blade of Misfortune.
hmm...the name sounds as if she is somehow related to Well Watcher Solanian, all the wat at the beginning of eversong woods(sunstrider isle).
is it just me or is there any lore-fanatic who knows how these 2 npc's are related?
my guess: brother and sister
any chance shes related to well watcher solarian in blood elf atarter area
EDIT: nvm didnt see comment above
The most the game mechanics will let damage be resisted is 75% regardless of your toon's level. As this is a lvl 73 Boss, normally the maximum reistance you'd want is 365, but because this boss casts
Mark of Solarian
which reduces your Arcane resistance by 15 and can stack to 30, this makes the resistance cap on this boss 815.
The most important part of the fight is to protect your delusions of grandeur at all times.
Soloable as a prot pally in heroic gear at 85. Wouldn't really do it again though, it was an extremely long fight due to the priests.
Of course before soloing her you have to clear her trash, including the nether scryers than have mind control (which will cast even if you're the only one there). How I countered this was summoning my elementium dragonling from engineering, then nuking the nether scryer hard, and bubbling as soon as I get mind controlled to finish the nether scryer off. The dragonling will stop them from resetting. Had to wait for both shield and dragonling cooldowns to refresh in between the two nether scryer pulls.
I tanked her in the entry doorway to her room, if you tank her in the room itself you lose a ton of dps time up in the air from the bomb. When she disappears some of the non elite adds will come to you, others will stay behind for some reason and wait for solarian to get back. When she reappears, just interrupt the priests and kill them, then get back on solarian, using hammer of the righteous to kill the non elite adds. The priests will inevitably get some heals off as they run to you behind the doorway, which is the most annoying part of the fight and makes it take a long time. I used seal of truth and healed with WoG when necessary, otherwise hit solarian with shield of the righteous. at 20% fight becomes easy and you can just dps her down.
Soloed as a 85 lvl mutilate rogue
The fight is pretty easy - keep recuperate up, fok down all the adds and try to interrupt priests.Just watch out for her explosion - pretty annoying.
Btw the trash is linked to the boss, don't forget it
Soloed her as a blood DK. I initially tried tanking her in one of the alcoves to avoid going way up high when I blew up but that made it hard to kill the priests so I decided to try tanking her in the entry room.
I tanked her in the right corner, as you face her room, of the entry room next to the door leading into her room. This allowed me to line of sight the priests and forced them to come into the room to attack me. I pulled her with dots and attacked her until she ported away. I dropped a death and decay just as the agents came into the room and killed them. When she and the priests came in I killed the priests first then dropped another DnD and focused on her after the 2nd priest died. I popped ghoul and dancing rune weapon and DPSed her until she ported away then finished off the remaining agents. I repeated this several times until she hit 20% and turned into a VW.
I had to bandage a few times, in between killing agents, but I finally killed her. It took a long time to kill her maybe 30 minutes.
Try to stay near the door leading into her room. If you move too far away from it she may reset. A couple of times I had to move into the doorway to kill the priests and DPS her but when she ported I moved back into the corner.
Here's the video.
This is one of the easiest bosses to solo as a
The main thing is that because she only channels arcane missiles at you if you stand at range, the missiles hit for only 2k+ per missile which is easily absorbed by ice barrier, mana shield or mage ward. She can also hit your pet with AM but that is easily outhealed by your dps.
Wrath of the astromancer is always cast on you, most of the time in intervals of more than 15s, so just blink after debuff runs out so that you move forward 20 yards instead of being thrown and risk losing your water elemental. The water ele plays a minor role in making the adds much easier to manage when she teleports up. For much of the fight, just run your pve rotation on her while keeping shields up so you take minimal damage which isn't absorbed.
Adds with about 15k hp each spawn from 3 different beams of light and start running towards you. just funnel them into an area near you which freeze (water ele) roots all of them. Channel blizzard on them until pet freeze has about 2s remaining then finish up with flamestrike + coc at end of cast (benefitting from mastery) + AE to kill off any adds that are still alive after this.
Post add phase:
She comes back with 2 priests, you should have FoF procs from blizzard in add phase, so use DF on one of the priest and kill him quickly with Fb+shatter combo or shatter combo + lance. 2nd add is interupted and killed
The fight is pretty much won if you reach this phase. She is still pretty much a caster with her void bolts hitting about 5k, nothing your shields can't handle. Just finish off the last 500k hp or so of her health.
The trash that leads up to here is probably much harder than the boss itself, particular at the entrance as well as the big 400k hp dragonhawks pats around top level of Al'ar's room. The basic rule of thumb for them is to cc one (i choose the star scryer cause he/she can MC and it can still hit despite level difference). Have water ele pull with water bolt on 3 of the dual-wielders (legionaires/vindicators) and tank them while you finish the other mobs of the pack.
The Tempest falconer packs in Al'ar's room can be skipped but if you happen to pull them just let water ele tank all the dragonhawks with aoe threat from freeze, kill the falconers first and focus fire down 1 by 1.
For 2/3 mob packs I usually kill the most hp guy first while your water ele tanks other 2 (again pre pulling with water bolt for quick on 2 mobs).
done this as a bear druid (or in fact cat...) on my first try (iLevel = 349)
You really don't take a lot of damage.
When she summons adds, just nuke them down using swipe (or thrash as bear), after that focus on the 2 priests. You can easily fight this game in cat form (more dps) if you keep 1 thing in mind:
Always heal yourself (3 lifebloom and 1 rejuvenation) when she kicks you up. This is time you can't do anything else, so it's really a free time to heal yourself.
This is also the reason why you can fight this one in cat form (changing to bear form while regenerating your energy is a good idea too for some extra dps)
Soloed as a TG Fury Warrior, ilvl 349. Mending on both weapons, full soloing spec. Blood Craze, Field Dressing, Second Wind (not useful for this fight). Nothing terribly difficult about this one. Just use Bloodthirst on CD and quickly kill the two priests when they spawn. They only have about 50k HP each. I used Prismatic Elixir, Drums of Forgotten Kings, Runescroll of Fortitude II, Battle Shout and +90 Stam food. I didn't use Enraged Regen at all and never dropped below ~90% HP.
Extremely easy as a 85 retribution paladin in 355-ish gear.
I just put Seal of Insight up and mucked around, never went below 90% as the poster above stated - burn the priests when they spawn and it's a sure win.
This encounter is bugged to hell for a solo hunter.
Your pet would constantly dismiss itself, which will lead to you getting a lot of damage taken.
I noticed (rarely) it would throw my GOAK up in the air with me, does it not with hunter pets? Though it didn't every time...
A video guide I made on how to solo Solarian:
As a blood DK i also tried to tank her in one of the side alcoves to minimise the amount of time i was in the air, but killing the priests was problematic and you would get minimal dps time on boss before she would port back to centre for the next add phase.
Eventually i decided to just put up with being thrown in the air and fought her in the centre with priority on priest adds when they spawned. Killed her a lot quicker this way. I did consider tanking her in the entrance way to LoS the priests but was a bit worried that might cause the boss to reset or enrage.
Could not kill as 375 Ele sham. (Kings drum/food buff/flask)
Had her down to ~20%, but was OOM...
I had healing stream totem (glyphed) to minimize her magic dmg.
Maybe would have been better off with mana totem + water shield.
Just solo tanked her as a prot pallie (~360 iLevel), and I ended up doing a LOS trick just inside the entry way. Worked out well, because all the mobs (including priests) would run right to me. When she elevated me, it only lasted for 1 second since it is a small area. So, easy as pie to down her.
Soloed as a i390 pvp tank druid.
You do not take fall damage from the bomb explosions.
Make sure to kill the priests as soon as they appear. The fight is cake. 5 minutes for 250g!
The two patrols around her are a bit more difficult. You have to kill the mind-controlling one otherwise it resets his health. Go kitty form if you're having trouble!
Pretty easy as a Ret Paladin, does a lot of constant damage though. This old $%^&* hits hard.
Solarian will constantly cast Arcane Missiles, which hit for about 3k each. Yes it hurts. Just burst her down, pop Divine Protection if you are taking too much damage. She will also put a debuff on you that is basically an arcane time bomb. After 5 secs you will blast up into the air for 6k damage, but you will not receive falling damage on the way down. Don't waste Divine Shield like I did.
After a little while, she will spawn adds from pillars of light, and then disappear. These adds are very weak, they deal about 400 damage each. Just use Seal of Righteousness to AoE them down. After a few seconds, Solarian will reappear with 2 priest adds that heal her. Get rid of the priests, and continue to burst her down. She will do this often. Continue these phases until she dies.
Good luck. :)
The Solarium Priests' Holy Smite ability is bugged in 5.0.4. It hits for roughly 300k damage. Get them down fast and hope that they miss, basically. It took me four attempts to get the boss down, each fail because of being one shot by the priests.
A video guide on how to solo High Astromancer Solarian in The Eye - Tempest Keep.
Warlocks, if you want to avoid the loss of valuable time flying into the air, use your Demonic Circle. You can use it as soon as you start flying skyward and save six seconds of flight.
Easily soloable at 90 provided the patrolling Nether Scryers are killed first. These mobs will mind control you and reset the boss constantly if not killed first.
The stationary adds don't have to be killed first, they will aggro on the pull however so you can aoe them down then.
Goblin !@#$%^ is fun here, with being bounced up all the time you can circle around the room all you like ;)
There is a hidden buff associated to the bomb skill which prevents fall damage. It is removed by Anti-Magic Shield, which I learned the hard way.
Soloed as 85lvl ret pala, ilvl 322. Extremely annoying fight, but Word of Glory and some selfless healing kept me up..
It only dropped 10g :(
Very easily soloed by a level 90 Arms Warrior.
easy to solo but annoying fight with all the knockup.. as hunter, my pet would often despawn, keep an eye on it and just call it back when you land on the ground. had to use a health pot once or twice, crafted pvp gear thats it. REALLY bad gear, still np. get adds under control quickly each time they spawn jsut so you can get back to putting threat onto your pet over and over. right before hitting the ground, disengage would save you some damage/trouble.
If you're farming the pet in 5.3.. Kill the trash in the room first, they will MC you and reset the boss otherwise.
Easy solo as a 480 ilvl Elem shaman. Killed the trash around the room first, dropped Fire Elemental totem, pewpew. Sent her crying home to Mommy in about 10 seconds, heh.
No pet though...better luck next week.
Nether Scryers will MC. Just clear that before pull boss.
If you're soloing this boss, I suggest dragging her to one of the alcoves around the edge of the room that some of the trash are normally at. It will save time when you get flung up by 'Wrath of the Astromancer'. Figured this out while soloing her on an 86 Brewmaster monk. ;)
not hard to solo at all, 88 prot pally not that well geared and still solo'd her first try. the most annoying thing is her knocking you up into the air. other than that she's easy
If you're farming her for the pet, blow all dps cooldowns at the start while you still have solid, uninterrupted turret time. Most charge/teleport mechanics, when used right at launch, will break you out of her annoying, nonstop punting gimmick. Enjoy your pet.
i just tried this on my 90 mage, and when she threw me into the air, she just KEPT throwing me over and over. I never landed until I had about 2k health, and she eventually killed me. You have no idea how bad it feels to get killed by a level 70 boss when you're level 90 until it happens to you.
I don't know if *I* did something, or if there was a bug, or what, but she had to have thrown me into the air between 6 and 12 times before I finally landed, just in time to notice she reset and had full health herself.
Here is a handy video guide with all pets and mount drops from this raid!
Pulled all the trash and whn the last group attacked they all turned friendly (green) and reset.
