Some have huge roampatterens and others keeps pretty close to there spawnpoint. I allways find one in the netherdrake terratory in netherstorms.

Has anyone seen one of these since the patch (2.1) using Engineering Goggles (extracted motes from, not just gotten the mana effect)? I have yet to see a single one, and none are reported as looted since this patch on any database site.

I have a feeling the changes to the goggle detection effect may have gotten screwed up. It used to have a visual flash when you equipped the old blue ones, now there is no feedback.

Having crafted the Tankatronic Goggles today, I followed Bronkler's post above, and headed for Celestial Ridge in Netherstorm. Flew around the dragons, with no sign of any "Arcane Vortexes", until suddenly there were sound and visual effects similar to when getting healed.
Only after clicking the Zapthrottle could I see something resembling a gas cloud,as the screenshot above suggests.
'Needle in a haystack', as currently implemented, definitely not a viable alternative method of farming motes. Shame, would be great to see some more non-combat sources of essential materials in the game. (But then, I'm Protection spec, I would say that heh).

If you have a decent video card, set your enviroment, whether, texture and some other details to high. I dont know about others but it made a HUGE difference and i can easily see lots of vortexes now.

According to a post on the WoW profession forums (I haven't seen it listed anywhere else yet, but I haven't look too hard), the epic engineering goggles will now passively track gas clouds, such as arcane vortexes, and clouds in Zangarmarsh, Shadowmoon Valley, and now new clouds that give motes of air in Nagrand. The clouds in Zangar will drop motes of water instead of life. This is all as of 2.3

Added four nodes to Luthger's map.
Note that the one spawning in the "o" in "Sunfury Hold" is invisible, but can be drained and located due to the manatick gained when stepping close to one of the Vortexes.
