If you're having any sort of trouble with this guy, the main thing is to interrupt
I managed to defeat him by kiting. He moves slowly and you have a lot of space to run around and LOS him while you heal up or wait for your cooldowns
what about the shield.. ? is a time your time thing..or?
im runnign around ..do I have to move him out of the middle and oif so how?
what about the shield.. ? is a time your time thing..or?
im runnign around ..do I have to move him out of the middle and if so how? that one layer 1 im on layer 2> 6 th floor.
This guy is absurdly hard.
Not super hard as frost mage. Pop every CD at the beginning of the fight. Let mirror images take the beginning damage while you hit as hard as you can. Then just dodge the pools on the floor, spell steal his buff, and remove curse from yourself.
As a shadow priest ilvl 148, this boss at layer 2 is too powerful, i tried the first time with all my 5 lives and I just barely managed to have his health down to 50-60% ... nothing i could do would beat him, I didnt have any major trouble the rest of the 5 floors (before this boss encounter). Then I gave up and tried in another 'tower hall' and then I had the 'luck' of having stuff that buff my intelect and haste... I knew by the 4th floor I wont have a problem this time. I beat him with no issue with around 10k of dps... so the "trick" again is the dps and the 'luck' of the draw. good luck!
Assassination rogue here. This guy's really tough. Here's what works for me:
Use Numbing Poison instead of Crippling poison so that you have a chance of slowing his casts and having him move quicker out of the circles he creates
Use Slice amd Dice to speed up your attacks and hasten your energy re-generation
Like another poster says, interrupt his Curse of Frailty
Use your interrupts, Vendetta, and Evasion when they're up
Other than that, keep trying.
This guys is either bugged or severely overtuned for a low layer endboss.
His Soul Bolts hit anywhere between 6-9k per cast even without curse of frailty being active. You cannot consistently interrupt his casts as he seems to spam the ability while your interrupts are on cooldown.
Just scraped this as BM hunter on first attemp, ilevel150 (with an item level 107 trinket for some reason). I finished on 7% health. It definitely could have ended in a death, I had to turtle to revive pet at one point, and the pet died again - I only interupted the shadow thing once, I relied mainly on avoiding the puddles. Tbh this run was predominantly difficult at one particular point on floor 2, I was worried it was going to get worse and worse - it didn't, so if you're feeling dejected, don't worry, it can get easier.
I burned this guy down in less than a minute as an Arcane Mage with ilvl 149. Here's how I did it:
#1. At first only get as close as you need to be able to target him. The more distance the better. Tip: target him & watch your polymorph button, as soon as you go from a red dot to a white dot, you're close enough to hit with any of your other spells.
#2. Launch your spells in this order:
Touch of the Magi (as soon as you do this he will start moving & casting)
Mirror Image (make sure you have picked up enough buffs along the way to get extra images, I had 5)
Spam Arcane Blast until he's dead.
I only needed to hit him once with my interrupt (counterspell) before he was dead. I was barely touched (my images took the brunt of his attacks) and I had 10k mana left at the end. I didn't need to evocate.
There will be pools on the floor, only move just enough outside of them so you aren't hit, no need to move very far. It's more important to quickly burn him down while your timewarp & mirror images are up & he starts whaling on your clothie buttocks.
Good luck ya'll! :)
This guy is a caster mob that hangs out and casts two main abilities:
Soul Bolt - Hits for 7-11k damage and he spams it pretty regularly. You can try to interrupt them, but he casts them too often to get them all.
Suppress - This shows up first on the ground as a small swirl where it's going to land. After that it creates a small pool that silences you and causes shadow damage.
I did not see curse of frailty during my fight, but absolutely dispell/interrupt/Phial that off if you do see it (increases shadow damage taken).
For me the key was to interrupt the couple spells I could and relied pretty heavily on my healing anima powers (leech, Tremorbeast Heart, chance of heal). Try to keep him slowed and kite him around the platform, interrupting what you can.
9Jan2021 - Prot Paladin - took me 6 tries (thankful for the extra lives I bought). Success came from managing the Soul Bolts. They were easily one-shoting me.
Manage your Silences in a rotation (not necessarily in this order)
-Hammer of Justice
-Avenging Wrath (assuming diving toll goes off when you use this ability)
Then just be patient, watch your feet, ignore the other abilities, damage, heal, and again, manage that rotation!
Once I did that, it almost seemed easy, but it took a number of frustrating attempts to figure this out.
If Soulbolt didn't take half of your health with each hit this would be better but if you're not soloing, this would be better
192 ilvl ret pally. Have killed this guy before according to my gatekeepers achievement, but he absolutely thwaked me today on the
Had carefully picked my anima powers and even bought an extra life - guy had 2.8M health, could only get him down to 48% on my best attempt with interrupts.
First incomplete Torghast, and on an 18 floor run at that.
Sub Rogue with ilvl 200 here. Got this guy on floor 14, solo. Almost unkillable if you have bad rng with anima powers.
Started pull prepping my buffs and then stunned him to get the 10% increased damage. Bursted with everything I had available, then interrupted/cloaked his spell, evasion when he goes melee and vial/potion to get back up. Blind works only for a few seconds so don't bet on it. After all this, he's still at 30% and I have nothing else to burst/recover so I just sit there while he does around 12k per swing/cast.
On my best try, I got him to 15% but he crit'ed me for 24k, more than half my health bar. Maybe If I had the 400% Shadowstep dmg anima power, but didn't get it.
Almost steamrolled the tower until this boss, lost my 5 lives here. Seeing as now the tower have 18 floors per layer, this is a complete waste of time if you get this guy and you're not OP enough.
I just had my first ever lost Torghast run and on floor 18, layer 3. For some classes it may be easier, but as a Vengeance DH with ilvl 195 I died 5 times. After the 1 minute mark, his Soul bolt basically one-shots you. With a 15 second interrupt and only sigils (with even longer cooldowns) which have 1 sec delay in activating it's hard to actually use them if your on GCD and his Soul Bolt is a 2 sec cast. I had 100k health and doing 30k DPS, the boss had 3 mil HP and the closest I got was 1% when his bolt one shot me. I cleared all floors and got all anima powers I could. Almost 2 hours lost.
I really don't think this is normal that after 1 minute fight you get one shot by just a cast which is basically spammed. These are final bosses, no boss should be able to one shot you in 1 minute.
Info for hunters: 190 hunter (with a crappy 171 bow) fought him as final boss Twisting Corridors layer 2. He had 3.15 million health. I can't remember my anima powers, but I know I had the one that reduces your pet's incoming damage by 90% when Misdirection is up...love that one...and my pet had about 130K health. The fight wasn't too bad. I one shotted him, my pet died once so I turtled and rez'd my pet and finished him. For a hunter all you need to do is keep your pet up, move out of the black circles and try to interrupt Soul Bolt, then just grind him down.
came in with my last life on this dude, layer 7 floor 18. Smack him for about 10 seconds, then he does 85k soul bolt against my 75k hp :/ had prolly 45% dmg mitigation from dh passive, trait and vers
Ended up solo on Soulforge Floor 6 with this guy (must be post-nerf as he did not cast any Soul Bolts - at least at me, not sure about the Blueberry). My Affliction Warlock is level 173 and it was an easy fight considering I'm 71 years old (wait till you're there) and not skilled anymore. Without a tank-pet in front of me I struggle. My biggest problem is fatigue - taking what seemed like an eternity to get to the last boss. Then the ultimate disappointment, he drops
, totally useless for me. I'm used to the RNG gods having played since January 2005 but Blizzard, to get the wrong-spec drop after nearly two-hours really sucks.
Ret Paladin, Layer 7 Floor 12 Twisting Corridors, took all my effort and I can only get this guy to about half life. I have 75k health and took every health upgrade I was offered, he just blasts me with soul bolt for 20-30k. Can't interrupt remotely enough to do this alone. This run is a loss of over an hour and exemplary of what is wrong with Torghast. If it is possible to come up to an impossible boss that the player cannot solo, you shouldn't be able to queue solo at all.
181 BM hunter here... I got him on floor 12 of twisting corridors. It took me 5 tries but I was able to barely get him down (there was always a certain amount of RNG). The best course was to have the 90% damage reduction on misdirect, intimidation increasing critical strike, interrupting all soul bolts, having a drums of deathly ferocity, and most importantly (the tipping point for me) was the Phantasmic Infuser from Venari (ambivalent reputation) -- giving you 200 haste increase by consuming 100 phantasma.
This boss right here is the perfect example of what is wrong with Torghast.
I’ve gotten through all 18 levels to the last boss, what do I find when I get there? He nukes my pet in three hits, then kills me in two hits WHILE I’M REZZING MY PET. Seriously, I have the damage reduction buff for misdirect, myself and pet are OVER 100k health, I have tons of damage multiplier buffs (like the one for intimidate), used Survival of the fittest with spirit beast. I heal my pet, but he hits so hard that I may as well not even bother. Some weeb tells me “interrupt his Curse of Frailty”… which is nice until he immediately uses it again after I stop it because MY INTERRUPT CD IS 1 MINUTE LONG. I have the little health bubbles that spawn when I attack an elite, I have the rare buff to give me 20% damage increase when I sit in the pool (though, does me a lot of good with the crap he spams on the ground). I have a total of 90 anima powers, wtf?
Oh, did I mention I was only on level 1?
Blizz needs to stop being lazy and actually act like they care about the people playing this game and balance this crap. There is no reason to have a lvl8-like boss on a lvl1 run.
I’ve run lvl8 floors before and while it was tough, I could do it and I didn’t have much issue with the bosses there, so I don’t understand the sudden impossible boss on this one. This is just poor design, not a challenge. When the boss can kill you faster than you can use your abilities, there is something wrong there
My friend (
191 bm hunter
) and I (
a 189 frost mage
) took on TC for the anduin questline, got to floor 12 and this guy was waiting for us.
We were unable to get him to even 50%. This is insane! We both had OP anima powers, pets, flasks etc the whole nine yards and this bloke manages to delete us in seconds. This isn't a challenge, because those are actually fun. This is just balancing gone incredibly wrong and I really hope Blizz gets their butt in gear and tunes this better. At least (as of writing this post) you're still able to exit and run floors 1-6 to get the items you need for the quest..
Easiest boss for mm hunter... Take
and get 3 more
,that slows enemies down and u will net with 95% movement slow on
. After that, stay as far as u can and land
in time, boss has a range to cast spells,if u stay out of his casting range, he wont be able to cast most of his spells !
Dismiss your pet ! Because boss will focus him and will use his abilities all around and he will buff himself up ! Also pet is not needed, since boss can't reach you...
Another tip, the more hp buffs u have, the higher boss hp bar will go. I didn't picked a single hp buff, i had 29 k hp and boss had only 445 k,i killed him in under 1 min. with all basic buffs i had as mm hunter. Keep him max slowed, stay out of his ranged spells and shoot from far distance! P.s. my dmg was high but boss hp bar was low, so it is much easier to kill, but he can 2 shot u, if he gonna reach u !
It might work for all ranged classes, as long as u can slow him to 5 % movement speed, kite and deal dmg !
Did it on layer 8 room 6, on The Soulforges !
Twisting corridors layer 1 floor 18 , 2 hours in .. 2.8 million hp
200ilvl bm hunter , i had 110k hp , 90% red dmg while misdirect up , 150% dmg buff while misdirect up , 60%mast 55%haste 45%crit
55% was the best i could do with 4 tries .. was hitting pet for 55k since i cant interrupt every soul cast. Hit me for 75k while i was trying to rez pet ..
Don't know about you guys but i ain't doing twisting corridors until bosses get fixed because for a class that has 1 heal on a 2 min CD i cant see a way to do it.
As an Outlaw Rogue, it took cycling through Kick, Kidney Shot, Gouge and Cloak of Shadows to stop or survive those Soul Bolts.
Layer 1, Floor 18. I had a pretty good run until I met this boss with my Disc Priest.
It was casting a soul bolt every 4-5 seconds and three of them were enough to kill me even with Pain Suppression + Rature shield on...
I was just trying to complete the intro quest for Twisted Corridors and got this guy on floor 18. He was wrecking me. I thought to myself, I just spent 3 hours in here, and I'm not even going to be able to complete the quest? Luckily, I downed him with 0 lives left. I was able to dodge and interrupt enough stuff to finally get him down. I was frantically pressing Touch of Death to finish him off.
Bro I don't get this description:
"This NPC can be found in The Soulforges (18) and The Upper Reaches (4)."
What do the numbers in the parantheses mean? That I can find it on floor 4 of any layer of 'The Upper Reaches'? Or is it layer 4 of 'The Upper Reaches'? If yes, then why does it say 'The Soulforges (18)' when that wing only has 8 layers?
BE MORE SPECIFIC!
He didn't cast curse of frailty on me once. He did however melee me from across the f'ing room for my full health.

This guy was doing a 140k Soul Bolt with 10m HP on TC8 FL18. As a fury, I have a kick, a stun, a fear, a spell reflect, and about 60% mitigation against magic from anima powers. Nothing was enough to stop it.. lowest I got him was 40%, but he eventually got a bolt through that one-shot me. So disappointing to waste 3 hours of jokes to run into a show stopper like this guy, or the golem that one-shot me through 5 lives last night. I really need to stop playing this game on hard mode (Fury).
Kill this guy having close to 4mil hp (i think) on 18th floor layer 4 TC when helping my wife to solo it as 36k hp Mistweaver.
She had bad luck with defensive anima power but had got all the touch of death, and leg sweep anima power. She did got anima power that prevent her from jump and walking backward though -.- (took me 5 death to get the hang of moving around on her char besides totally different keybind)
I did this by sweeping his Deaden Magic (DEADLY - note: only use leg sweep for deaden magic or you might find him immune to it after 3 sweep within 20 sec or so), keep using my celestial, which has all 4 celestial on 1.5min duration,
Soothing Mist + Vivify (had 5 stacks of the anima power which deal 250% damage over 3 sec to whoever in the void zone it left - at her gear she was doing about 9k damage each vivify)
clip in the following when able
Tiger palm (got 5 stacks of the extra hit thingy)
Blackout Kick after 3 Tiger Palm (5 stacks of the damage as well as buff to RSK damage)
Rising Sun Kick after 4 Blackout Kick
When the boss reach about 200k hp, Fortifying Brew (515% increase hp with the purple anima power - it's max 100 stacks) and Touch of death to finish him off.
The boss soul bolt hit me for about 35k, each hit took me down to roughly 1.7k hp, so it was (and has to be) a flawless execution. Sometime when you find yourself unable to top yourself back to 100%, use paralyse or in last resort, Leg Sweep to stop her from casting soul bolt.
Keep using Mana Tea whenever off cooldown to ensure sufficient mana. I ended the fight with almost 0 mana, had to keep utilising the one short corner of the corridor before the arena to LOS him in last phase because of oom.
Please allow me to brag, the fight almost seems hopeless and i attempted 6 times over 40 mins. I even use flask pots foods augments armor etc just for this guy. -.-
I think my wife just found a way to take revenge on me by exploiting my OCD. XD
There's some ol' bull$%^& going on with this boss. He was the floor 12 boss on my Torghast run last night as a solo arcane mage. I had the power that boosts your Arcane Blast damage for breaking phylacteries (I was at the full boost), as well as the power that increases Arcane Blast damage by 2000% out of Greater Invisibility. So I ran the rotation on him that I've used for other bosses: Touch of the Magi to get four stacks immediately, put down Arcane Power, then Greater Invisibility to drop aggro and set up the huge Arcane Blast. And...it didn't work. GI didn't drop aggro at all; he kept attacking me and basically cancelled GI immediately, then wrecked me. Thanx, Blizz.
5.6 million health on layer7, took me about 8 tries on my ilvl 185 DH. soul bolts and melee were hitting for 120k+
Prot Pally that has accumulated 256K health throughout the run. Layer 7, Floor 18. About to try the final attempt as this boss has successfully one-shot me on every previous attempt with soul blast. Not 3 shots, not 2 shots, but 1 shot. Every time. I even have extra interrupts with my divine toll as Kyrian and Big Clapper combo, but even these are not enough to interrupt all his casts. So alas - hours of time wasted on a basically unbeatable boss. Great game design!
Easiest class would be Elemental Shaman, but you must have 2
give you nearly non-stop Lava Surge, while your Earth Golem tanking, you can nuke the heck out of this boss with Hero.
no cooldown, so you can basically interrupt every spell this boss tries to cast. With 3
, it keeps your HP full almost all the time.
Just completed as Guardian Druid with my wife as Outlaw Rogue on level 8, floor 18.
Ilevel's 202 and 205, respectively.
Boss had nearly 18 million health and we had not gotten alot of our favorite powers. We did get the zone of empowerment buff that drops on the ground and 2x 15% dmg buff from Growl.
It just came down to staying out of suppression fields and using our interrupts together to interrupt soul bolt.
As it was little of our damage was magic despite all the druid powers and other weird stuff we got along the way - which is really the issue with this boss as far as I can tell.
A real challenge for casters im sure as having to move out of suppression fields and having very limited interrupts would make this SO much worse. Guess we got lucky, but we got our bear-hounds now (:
Also was lucky enough to get this guy on my TC run. Floor 18, layer 6. Motherf**ker had 4,8mil hp and was able to two shot me with soul blasts. 211 ilvl arms warrior and I even had Die by the Sword & Ignore Pain up (Was a bit unlucky with anima powers) but had a lot of souls along side me to boost the duration of Die by the sword. Still not enough. Tried buying smoke bombs to somehow kite around but to no avail. He seemed to keep blasting them at me even with no vision. So this is fun....
Silenced him 3 times and he actually went down fast. Buy extra lives though.
Got this guy on Floor 18 today. iLvl 270 Sub Rogue, well over 100k HP, and he just 1-shot me through all 5 of my lives. This is two hours of my life I'll never get back. Horrid design.
