This is the first boss of the "Plague" (south-east) wing of Naxxramas. Strategies for defeating him can be found at
Hunter specific tips:
- Get Big Wigs Bossmod (
- Get KLH Threatmeter (
- If you're dps'ing boss be careful after Big Wigs blink-timer has run out, he may blink and reset aggro at any moment
- When Big Wigs says "BLINK!" spam esc on your keyboard and make sure you're not still autoshooting
- Don't use feign death for mere aggro reducing, save it if you get unlucky and let off and aimed shot right after he blinks
- Make sure an officer has set KLH to only log threat made to the boss, then stare at the meters so that you don't go over mt.
- If you got lots of threat from boss go nuke adds for s few seconds then get back to boss, save feign death!
- No multishot when he's up on balcony, you're nuking adds and there are shackled Plagued Champions around
So... how many people do you think it would take to kill him in T5/6 gear? My guess is 10-15... Wanting to know how many people to con into going with me while trying to get the Libram...
Noth the Plaguebringer (sounds)
"Glory to the master!"
"Your life is forfeit."
"I will serve the master... in death."
"My task is done."
"Breathe no more."
"Rise, my soldiers! Rise and fight once more!"
Extremely easy on normal.
Just easily killed him with the following group: paladin tank, 2 mages, 2 enhancement shamans, discipline priest healer, a hunter, rogue and a feral druid.
And yes, that is just 9 people. It was our first try on this boss, first time ever for our guild in naxxramas normal, and our druid healer didn't enter the room in time and was stuck outside, so we had just one healer and this encounter was still no problem.
Just make sure your group kills the skeletons regularly, focusing on the skeletal mages (arcane explosion) later in the encounter. The group shouldn't get much damage and the tank is easily healed as well.
We had our druid offtank on the boss, with our paladin (usually our MT) handling the adds due to his advantage against undead and aoe tanking abilities.
Once the boss was at around 25 or 30% we started ignoring the adds, having our paladin just grab and tank them all while everyone quickly DPSed down the boss.
On normal mode this boss hit's like a trash mob. We had our MT D/C midfight and our OT was able to pick him up, plus all the adds and we downed him.
OT was a Blood DK in blues.
Noth the Plaguebringer
: Tank Noth prety much near the center of the room. Keep on him until he teleports away and more adds come out. We had a feral tank as MT for this fight.
: Tank Plague Warrior Spawns as they spawn. One was enough to pick up all of them for us. Pally tank is great for undead adds. They spawn just to the right of where Noth generally is standing at the front and back corner of the room. Hold the adds until Noth teleports away.
: Kill Noth until he teleports and then kill the Plague Warriors spawn and adds until he returns. Repeat. Hopefully it won't take but one teleport to drop him down.
Healers and/or DPS
: Keep a healer on the MT and OT. The OT takes more dmg due to mult-mobs on this fight. The raid takes very little damage. Main objective is to
DECURSE Curse of the Plaguebringer
. If you do not decurse this debuff will start a plague upon the whole raid which will most likely lead to a wipe.
Actually its easier to tank him in the very northwest corner soo the OT has more time to pick up the adds when they are running to healers, and save adds till he teleports to aoe them down soo u dont lose dps on boss and aoe dps doesnt pull off OT. remember after 3rd teleport he enrages soo u cant afford to be killing adds while they come out.
Well at least for 25 man thats a good strat cause 10 man soo easy it doesnt matter where u tank him.
Just wanted to let everyone know that it IS possible to kill Noth on his balcony, as our 25-man discovered last night. As far as we can tell, there's no way to get to him on this balcony to loot him. We did have the raid put in a GM ticket regarding the situation and are currently awaiting a response.
For level 80s... Instead of changing stance and using Intercept, using Warbringer might be a better tip for the tanks in Lich King.
this evening we have wiped at him one time. (yeah its too easy)
i think it was server lag because at the exact moment we have gotten the curse, we died all but the MT. no time to dispel at all.
maybe he rerolled as a DK and used "raid explosion"
Definitely the easiest fight if you get the tactics right...
We tanked in the far left of his patrol as you look into the room with the dps and the healers behind him right in the corner under his bacony.
The OT would pick up the adds as they came running past the mt and drag them back to the tank.
Once he teleports, both the tanks would then pick up any adds. Our mage was damned good one the remove curse stuff.
Pretty easy boss what we always do is tank him in middle have ot pick up adds and bring them to noth so when we aoe we damage noth also
Here's what happened to us, he was around 150k when he teleported (heroic). We had atleast 20 dots on him, we obviously overdotted him and he died before he reappeared again, so we were unable to loot him. So do not over dot him if hes going to third phase.
noth casts a curse wich need to be removed under 4-5 sec or the infictid dies
Just some info that anyone who plays a DK should know.
A few of the bosses are in Acherus on retail.
Gluth sells you stuff.
The others give you quests.
Noth has you make a Scourge Cauldron for him.
Gluth transforms from his original abomination form that was in acherus.
Noth hates Heigan like nothing else in the world. Just asking him where he is makes him want to rip your head off.
- Noth, where is Heigan?
- He is probably performing maintenance on his slime and crap filled dance studio.
- Noth, where is Heigan?
- I can tell you where he's not...
- Noth, where is Heigan?
- How dare you! Get out of my sight!
- Noth, where is Heigan?
- NEVER say that name around me! Consider this your one and only warning!
See? Heigan makes him MAD!
Moonlights as a
for anybody who hasnt made a Death Knight, Noth is an ally until you break away from the Lich king, and he has a quest that allows you to get
from the quest
Yeah yeah, nice to know how to kill him. but what everyone wants to know, or at least me, is: WHY DOES HE HATE HEIGAN? >.<
Anyone got an answer?
Green Circles are magic in Naxx! just have your raid stand in it ( tank as well) and you don't get any curses through out the entire fight. OT an grab adds and tthe raid can AoE them down. Very easy fight even in 25man.

his shoulders are
a model of this.
im trying to find out whats his robe
Varidus the Flenser
in Borean Tundra will also occasionally say
"Rise my soldiers! Rise and fight once more!"
while not in combat, and it plays the same sound effect that Noth does!
Doens't drop Emblem of Conquest anymore.
Varidus the Flenser
in borean tundra will also occasionally say "Rise my soldiers! Rise and fight once more!", sharing the same sound clip from Noth.
(Reposted because a couple of idiots rated my comment down and got it deleted. If you don't believe me, go to his page and read the comments, or find him in borean tundra and listen to him yourself. You'll find that this is 100% true)
Pretty soloable as an 85 DK (on 10-man), but still a bit of a challenge. I did it in blood spec / DPS gear (mostly 359, few 372 items). You need to focus specifically on Noth when you're able to DPS him, and just cleave the adds with heart strike. The curse and its subsequent debuff can be ignored, AMS after the debuff falls off in order to delay getting the Cripple debuff applied, as this will reduce your rune regeneration to near zero while it's up. Make sure you're fairly well topped off as this debuff is the only thing that makes the encounter challenging.
There is no hard enrage, though there eventually is a "soft enrage" where he spends successively less and less time attackable before teleporting until you eventually become overrun with adds.
As of now (mid-4.2) a blood DK in DPS gear can probably kill him before the first teleport.
Solo by warrior
5-manned this guy at 85, with one level 80 warrior.
Basically a tank'n'spank with adds, and a bit of dispelling.
Soloed by prot paladin in 271 ilv pvp gear. Focus on Noth and use HoR on the adds. SoL, kings and str food was used. Took 12mins. Didnt see any enrage timer...Use word of glory and other healing spells time to time between adds in phase 2.
Solo by (BM) Hunter is possible.
Run to the upper left corner before starting the fight and send your pet in.
Make sure you are using a tenacity pet which can manage some
DPS the boss when no adds are up, FD when adds come near you.
Get back up when they vanish. The next pack of adds will spawn about 20 seconds later.
At this point you should 'try' to stay alive for 10 seconds, which shouldn't be a problem.
The fight takes some time... My DBM stopped counting time after a while.... :-(
How to solo as a Paladin:
Downed him. Hunter shortly after 4.01 solo. Adds don't despawn with FD in 25 man so I stopped trying it in 25man.
Soloed this boss at 336 item level as a blood dk in dps gear, nothing hard at all, at the time I had to focus on skeletons one by one or the damage was too much; now with 392 item level, but also a while ago, I can just nuke noth and heart strike down the adds, it's not even challenging on 10.
That's why I wanted to try at 25, always got overwhelmed by skeletons (many more spawn at 25), also tried in tank gear; it was not an option as you have more survivability but also you have difficulties at killing skeletons fast enough.
I saw a video of a dk in better gear soloing him, he said to focus on every single skeleton so you don't get overwhelmed.
Well, I tried, all went fine till around 4 millions (the screenshot here shows 5 millions and something, but actually wiped at 4 millions); after that like 15-20, if not 25 skeletons come, only 4-5k damage each, but still... it's like a different enrage mechanism, it's like 12 mins after the start of the fight.
Anyone else tried this and had this incredible skeletons wave?
To give an idea, all fine at 5,7 millions:
Then at around 4, after he teleports, these are only like half of the skeletons that came:
And at last soloed noth 25, with 394 item level and still not a very good weapon (gurthalak 390), but at least decent. Used a 300 strength flask, 90 stamina and strength food and one-shotted him, my strategy, which I thought even before starting was: "ok, he doesn't have an enrage, but if you don't kill him in 12 mins he summons 30 skeletons and it's like an enrage, so nuke boss, only kill skeletons when you're about to die, use cds on boss only".
And it worked, took me I think 3 phases in which noth was present to bring him to 700k, when he teleported again it was like 10-11 mins from start, so I knew that if he had teleported on the balcony I would've been overwhelmed by skeletons, so cds again + golemblood potion (1.200 strength for 25 sec), and he died, probably I still had a bit more time, since I did over 2 millions each phase, so why not even this time.
Much more challenging than 10, ofc, here's some screenshot of revenge.
Also, at least on 25, but I also think at 10, the gargoyles can tell you if you are ready to solo the boss: this boss is a dps check on both difficulties, ofc much harder on 25, if you can kill gargoyles before they regenerate, you can try the boss, doesn't mean you have enough gear, but on the opposite, if you need help to finish off gargoyles you will NEVER have the dps for the boss, discovered this in my tries.
Hunter Solo Guide/Advice
An easy solo, make sure you take a Tenacity pet and spec into everything tankline. Glyph of Mend Pet + Misdirection are a must for any solos. Incredibly easy to solo, just MD adds and aoe down as you primarily DPS Noth. More of a waiting game.
Tip for Engineers. Camoflague past the trash just before Noth until you get to the top of the stairs with the Gargoyles, then, Rocket boot + Parachute as you go over the stairs then feign death at the bottom to reset the trash, enabling a kill without killing any trash!
Good luck and happy soloing!
