So this guy spawns a barrage of arcane aoe that both deals huge damage and disorients for several seconds , making it incredibly tough to ever deal damage since any misstep is almost certainly going to kill you.
Incredibly unfun to do.
6/30: Received 70 gold, a 150 ankoan rep item, and 150 ankoan rep
Not worth doing unless you have a ton of people with you. Should really spawn less arcane garbage with fewer people.
I'm fine with Blizzard having randomly-spawned raid bosses, so long as they're properly indicated as such. This is NOT something you should take on without a small army as backup.
Seriously, has anyone found a way to deal with this guys proximal chaos attack ? Not only is it like a 6 sec duration but there is only about that amount of time in between casts. So in essence you have 6 seconds to deal damage after you revive and then you are stunned and promptly killed again. That is unless you are far enough away that you can run away from the casts, but that makes it so by the time you run back in range to attack him again you maybe get one or 2 shots off at him before the whole thing starts again. I just want to know if there are people that are actually not dying when he casts this because we do manage to kill him eventually but I am so far away the I can't tell if people make it through and if they do I and probably everyone else would like to know how.
I have also tried to just stay way back and send my pet in to attack him butt he still sends those cast at me even if I myself do not attack him.
ok so from what ive noticed he seems to do his Proximal chaos after 3-4 arcane barrage (can be interrupted), when he starts to cast it run on the rocky paths surrounding him makes it easier to see and dodge the Proximal chaos bits that drop down then run back in when he finishes. Note whoever is tanking can run into the cave behind him so can get back into combat faster
Not even worth it. It only drops junk loot, and I got no rep of any kind the one time I managed to defeat it with a large group of other players. Please correct me if I am mistaken, however.
Dropped an Abyssal Conch for me, which grants 150 rep with the unshackled, also 70g 20s
Nearly impossible. A group of 14 of us tried 17 times and finally walked away.
Completely not worth doing at all. No real loot, like 70g reward, but you will die like 5 times and have 2 min rez timers.
What do we say to this Azshara's summoning? "Not today!"
30 minutes of dying and fighting for One Iridescent Speck.
Don't waste your time on this event, it barely rewards anything and is designed like literal %^&*.
Ok, previously when I had killed this I would get a 150 rep token (not worth doing it then even) but the last two times all I've gotten was 70 gold and a grey junk item. I didnt even die once on this last kill cause we had a ton of people, both horde and alliance.
Only reason to do this is for the achievement "Back to the depths!
" which is part of the meta achievement "Undersea Usurper
" which gives "Of The Deeps" title and Snapback Scuttler. Only luck I've personally had with this guy is throwing bodies at him. Almost impossible to do damage to him "safely" as a caster to him. But yeah, if you're looking to get that title/mount you'll have to do this one a few times for the achievement.
edit again: It seems like you get 150 rep doing the event/killing the boss that spawns which can be this guy or a few others that are push overs in comparison but it seems the rep is only a once a day reward but it seems you can do this multiple times a day towards the achievement at least.
What exactly is the point to this? This encounter has to be the single biggest cluster$%^& I've ever seen in this game.
What is the purpose of this? No decent loot, certain death multiple times (revive is on a TIMER), you don't get credit when this thing dies while you are dead, the actual loot is grey or some coins, several one shot scenarios where you can't run away because you are "disoriented". This must have been some angry, people-hating developer who designed this.
Blizzard, please remove this nonsense or make it worth while.
This event mob feels like a huge "F*YOU" from Blizz.
70g reward? Doesn't even cover my repair bill.
Also, being out of range when it dies because you're running back from the graveyard...
That's a "DOUBLE F*YOU" from Blizz.
much like the rest of the posts... don't bother killing him
Not a melee friendly guy
Everything that has been said is STILL true btw. 20th August 2019 as of writing this and this guy was INTENSELY difficult for even normal and HC geared people in a small grp to do (8+). 300g repair cost and for pretty much nothing.
If you died (like I did when it reached 5%), you may not even progress the Back to the Depths Achievement!
well impossible to tank :D but at least gave 150 rep...
Anyone who still thinks Blizz knows what they are doing should fight this guy. I'd love to see the whining if this was a Raid boss...
Not worth it! Stay away from him..
What a lame loot-table for a being of such power. 😝
This fight is bad. And its designers are bad as well. Did people really get paid to make this excuse for a fight? Like really? So, one misstep in a half-second window with barely any indication makes you perma-disoriented until you die. I offer to make a better fight for half the money that these guys got, just to see them get them fired.
So much work for absolutely nothing!
I've done this encounter 10 times to get the achievement, and i am never doing it again. It just feels so stupid to do it when you know that no reward is gonna come in the end.
This is sad Bliz! At least make it drop something worth fighting for....
There is little point in trying to kill this boss. Proximal Chaos is ridiculously overpowered (no way to interrupt, and impossible to avoid), and it is highly likely you will die while trying to kill this boss. Even if you have a large group that manages to kill the boss, there is a fair chance you will be running back to your corpse and not get credit for the kill.
If you are working on
achievement for the
meta, your best bet is to simply wait until the next random boss spawns and save yourself some grief.
Eight months later and this is still garbage. The only possible explanation for this abomination is lore-based fear of Azshara. For those of you chasing Undersea Usurper in 8.3 and beyond, do yourself a favor and skip this Summons. It's worth waiting an extra day.
I was able to solo as ilvl 450 assassin rogue today. And here's how:
First clear the adds all around his swimming pool.
Engage boss. DPS as normal. I strafed a circle around him as i dpsd. Not sure if that is necessary but it was hard for me to see bad stuff mixed in with the swirly water he's standing in...so I just kept moving.
Occasionally he spawns adds. I just cleaved them with fan of knives.
I ran away about 30 yards whenever he cast proximal chaos and kept moving. By just strafing in the same direction continuously i was able to keep just ahead of the bad stuff on the ground. During those phases I just spammed poison knife throws at him. So just imagine running a spiral out during chaos and then spiral back in when its over.
Immediately as he finished casting proximal chaos I would move in and try to interupt his only interuptable cast (Arcane something or other). Occasionally I would miss the first interupt and get the second. Not interupting by the second cast seemed to make him go haywire and he would cast faster and faster and I had to blow any and all defensive cd's.
Rinse and repeat until dead. Using this method I had no loss of control effects. It took a few minutes but he went down fairly easy. My health went to about 35% at one point when he went haywire when I missed the interupt. I recovered with evasion, cloak of shadows and crimson vial. He appeared to have a massive haste boost during that phase and his casts got so fast that they couldnt be interupted. Surviving that hiccup and interupting the next cast when kick was available again seemed to set him back to normal mode. This method should work for any melee.
Ive lost any and all faith in Blizzard after looking at this dbags drop table. There is almost an obligation for Blizzard to give this type of fight some kind of incentive. But Nahhh. Blizz... Y- you want me to do this 10 times? lol you can keep your ugly ass mount and your stupid achievements. %^&* like this is why people switched from real money subs to tokens. No body in their right mind would support a game developer who hates their pbase.
Also, no body is ever attacking him. No groups, nadda. He sits and despawns 80% of the time.
I'd rather go play in traffic. Between stupid crap like this, and blizz allowing people to have 11+ accounts all multiboxing and farming mats, destroying the economy.. Yeah. I think i'll be switching to a Token based sub from now on.
Echoing the rest of the comments here - if you end up with this as the summoned creature - just move on and wait the 3hr for the next one. It's not worth it.
Tricky fight because once you get hit by proximal chaos, you are very likely dead. The trick is to clear out all the nearby adds before the encounter starts. There is a nice path by the purple hut that leads to the main road. Clear out all the adds there (there are quite a few of them). When the boss starts a proximal chaos cast, just run away down the path and keep going until the cast is complete. You won't die if you do that.
Hey look it's the ignorance from Blizzard for the past few years: pointless, frustrating, bad rewards
I can't wait until they go bankrupt and Activision fires them all lmao
this is literally the worst npc in the game. unavoidable mechanics and massive damage
