Killed 103 Glimmershell Hulks (109200000 damage) before he spawned, took around three hours. And almost had him sniped when fighting another hulk. Just a terrible rare.

Made an account just to say that it took 44 hulks for him to spawn, I recommend to have at least 10k selfhealing if you want to take more than one at the time, Vampiric Speed on azerite pieces helps too, do your best to dodge Claw Swipe or use Crowd Control on that. 100% dodge works for Claw Swipe too.

I really think there's some significant delay when killing mobs to get rares to spawn. For both this and the Spireshell I was killing a bunch of the appropriate mobs, nothing spawned. Then I went and did some other stuff (it was late at nite, there was no one else around) and came back and the rares had spawned.

As of 9.0 it does! A few tips for farming this guy if you want it for a pet.

- Stick to one spot. I picked 46, 55 because five spawn here and if Glimmershell pops, you can see it on your mini map. You don't want to kill every spawn point because you can be half way across the map when it spawns and you'll lose it to other people.
- Let all five respawn before you kill them again. You don't want to be fighting a hulk when this rare spawns.
- Dismiss your pet when you're waiting for respawns. This is a highly desired rare and you don't want to waste any time taming.
- Use Freezing Trap because 绚烂光华 will break your tame. Again, you don't want to waste any time.

If you have a hunter that can help you, you can have the hunter tame them instead of repeatedly killing them. after the hunter tames they can abandon the non-rare crabs.

Iridescent Glimmershell is a rare giant hermit crab that shares its spawn locations with the Glimmershell Hulks within the Dragon’s Teeth basin. While technically not a summoned rare, if you cant find it this one, you’ll need to kill off all of the Glimmershell Hulks until one of them spawns in as Iridescent Glimmershell.

Killed hulks for ~2 hours in a slow tempo which was ~50 hulks. Then it spawned next to me.

(Patch 8.3) I've had multiple farm sessions and still, nothing has spawned (probably killed at least 100 hulks total if not a good amount more). Maybe now that the majority of the player base isn't here, not as many are being farmed? IDK.. discouraging.. he's the last one I need for rare achieve though.

Made a few circles around the Braxicus quest elite area killing hulks (there're 5 of them there), I've noticed that every other hulk respawned except one, that's where the rare spawned a bit later, so if you can remember all the spots you killed them, you can camp the rare so noone snipes it from you. I wouldn't do all the hulk spots, you could miss the rare since they're so far apart.

Relatively easy to solo with 210-ish Item level in SL. You can do the full loop no problem, took me about 20 minutes to get him to spawn. What a lovely model, the blue is so pretty. Kill Glimmershell Hulks until it spawns in one of their places.

I spent two days at Dragon's Teeth Basin, just killing the five Hulks on the same general beach level as Braxicus, and then waiting for them to respawn. It took 10 minutes for them to respawn. I spent hours and hours and must have killed several hundred. A horde was doing the same thing next to me both days. No Iridescent Glimmershell spawn.

Finally, I got frustrated on Day 2, and I started running in a wide circle around the same beach level, stomping on the eggs. When I broke one, all the little crabs would spawn everywhere. I killed them all. The eggs weren't stompable again until I killed all the little spawns. But as soon as I did, I could stomp another egg and they would all respawn. But the big deal was, all the big Hulks would re-spawn at the same time as the little ones. The big Hulks were spawning much, much faster than they did when I was only killing them. By the time I ran the circle around the level stomping and killing everything, the big Hulks had spawned again. I could just keep running in the circle and constantly killing everything big and little, and then stomp on another egg and start again.

It took about 5 minutes of this, and the Iridescent Glimmershell spawned where one of the five Hulks had been. I couldn't believe I had wasted two days. So, try that.

It's 2025, we are deep into The War Within, and this was still being absolute RNG pain.

Within the few hours I didn't really count how many of those 烁壳巨蟹, 烁壳爬蟹 and 烁壳蟹 I killed (it was definitely closer to 100 than 10), and smashed their eggs to keep up the 烁壳蛋液 buff to be extra irritating for the rare to spawn.

I circled around the usual spots people mentioned, but in the end it just spawned for me at 56.3 56.7 in Coral Forest - and guess what, it didn't spawn after I killed the Hulks, it spawned after I was killing the smaller ones aka the crabs and crawlers.

What does this mean? Absolutely no clue.

Does it spawn from the Hulks, Crabs and Crawlers? Maybe? Or was this just a coincidence?

All I know that this one sucked, and expect to be around for a while, so get yourself snacks, TV show/movie to watch and take some breaks in between.

Note that 虹光烁壳蟹 can just spawn by its own.

I have been continuing the rep farm and storyquests for 海底篡位者, and now every day when I go to Nazjatar, it has been around without any players spawning it.

So, if you got other stuff to do in Nazjatar for the achievement or due to some other reason, maybe don't spend hours in attempt to spawn this rare, because it has a chance just to do it all by itself - and usually seems to be at the morning (maybe after reset?).
