Layer 4 Skoldus Hall boss. One shotted with a 158 BM hunter..good thing since I was on my last life at the end (I hate the Torment of the Jailer guys that hunt you down right in the middle of a fight!). Warden Skoldus was actually quite a bit easier than the Layer 3 bosses I fought last week. Just avoid traps he throws, his charge and try to disrupt Rats! spell (doesn't do much damage). Dropped Memory of a Dire Command for me. Good luck!
He's not too bad of a boss. I encountered him in Skoldus Halls (He isn't Warden Coldheart after all!) layer 4. Be sure to move out of the way of his charge or you'll take some damage and be stunned. Interrupt his Rats! cast. I never let it go off so I'm not 100% certain of what the ability does but if it is anything like what the larger mawrats cast then it will likely be a bleed and a snare. The snare would then make it a tad more difficult to dodge his charge and other ability, traps. He'll throw a trap on the ground that will arm after a second and again, I don't know what the trap does as I never triggered it but I would imagine it deals some damage and immobilizes you. Anyone who has fallen victim to the trap please feel free to chime in. Good luck!
Bullcrap. ilvl 187 VDH carved up all of layer 6 until this guy. Melee attacks were hitting for almost 4k. Don't even think about taking a rat trap or charge.
184 Fury Warrior, no @#$%ing change. Even if you dodge everything the damage is just way too much on Level4...
iLvl 171 ele shaman, just kite, interrupt the rats!, avoid the charge, rinse and repeat. Spec primal elementalist and your eles tank him for most of the fight.
As a Frost DK at ilvl 158 I could only wittle him down from 330k to about 115k before succumbing. The damage output was just too much for me to mitigate. Had the same issue with Thonar who was sitting on about 300k. So I am really debating if I even want to try again. Nothing I enjoy more than spending 45+ minutes working my way up that level only to not succeed. <sarcasm> And to think I pay to play this game? A challenge I like...frustration I do not.
Piece of cake, just interrupt his Rats! cast and move out of his charge. Simple.
I did this on my ilvl 169 warrior layer 4 and I got lucky with anima for self healing and self defense buffs. Dodge the traps, charge and rats and he is pretty doable.
183 Ret pally. It's a cinch -- interrupt his Rats! cast, avoid the small rat traps he puts on the ground, stay out of the way of his charge.
Just Soloed as 174 warrior.. Best buff food, heal pot, all the stuff, oild, flask, Drums etc.. No bigger issuedwhen avoiding the charge and most traps..
Good luck to you all!
Just encountered him on level 12. Ret Paladin ilvl 203. Melee was hitting me for 12k~. Couldn't get him past 20%
just got this guy on level 1 endless corridoors at floor 18 he enrages and melee swings for around 30+k and crits you for around 53k still does the charge do not get hit by it also if u fail to interupt the rats cast then u will more than likely get killed as it was hitting for me anywhere between 29k to 37k a tick can kite him fine and do the mechanics and u feel like your doing good till the buff he gets gets to high stacks then u cant impare his movespeed and he just kills you i got him to around 30% before getting annihillated
Did him on my Arms Warr at about ilevel 160 layer 3 on Skoldus Hall, he was a lot harder than I was expecting. I died 3 times before I finally killed him, was getting worried.
I think there's a certain amount of rng going on here.
- Stay out of his charge. You can't always but try. It's bizarre sometimes it would barely hurt me, other times it would pretty much 1 shot me. He has a lot of abilities it might matter whether he has buffed himself during the charge or debuffed you.
- I never even bothered interrupting his rats, I just aoe'd them down super quick.
- That stupid trap was the killer, because you can't just not step on it. It has a circle around it which seems utterly stupid, so there's an area around the trap that will affect you whether you step in it or not. The trap slows you down, so makes you easier to be destroyed by the charge and the trap also applies a bleed.
He's cc'able so cc him as much as you can, it helps when you can't interrupt.
This is another example of the terrible RNG in Torghast and indeed in this game. Such an easy fight if you're a caster or have a pet.
If you're playing a melee, avoid the charge and stay away from him after the charge. Because he always throwa the traps after his charge. Then once the trap is thrown (and you've avoided the trap) attack him. This is one of those grinding long battles. That Trap + Charge will be what kills you if you let yourself be caught by the trap.
Has this guy been buffed? Was hitting my 170 blood dk for 10k a swing...
So what is the fun in this?
Arcane Mage (ilvl 165) only doing a lvl 2 for the main story quest chain from Bolvar. Skoldus had 269K+ health, NOTHING else was remotely close to that level of health. Why is there such a gross difference in the "boss" and anything else in the instance? The layer end guys were cake in comparison and the rares were under 110K.
Frost Nova he broke. One shot ALL the mirror images. He tossed traps (apparently he doesn't have a cooldown). Couldn't sheep him, so ? if that might have worked. Couldn't out-run or out-gun him - so yeah lot's of fun there! I can understand not being geared enough on a level 4-5+, but a lvl 2? The story quests shouldn't be such a PiA to do.
I was actually relieved to see this was the boss (been getting Watcher to often this week), as other classes have killed him no issue. This one seemed awfully OP for some reason. Finally left, didn't even run out all the deaths - what's the point? The quest portion was done. Screw the soul ash, not worth the time.
This has pretty much confirmed it - Torghast can be loads of fun on a DK, DH or Pally the tanky classes with heals, but for the story, going to do the minimum floors on the alts for the quests/Sanctum story line, but screw wasting an hour or so on this crap.
If Blizzard thinks this is fun for ALL classes, they didn't test ALL of them.
3x full clears of Skoldus Halls today, never seen her...
180 Balance druid, got him on Floor 12 of level 1 Twisting Corridors. Had all my lives and was super strong from all the Anima Powers. This guy was hitting me for 10-14K, and I died 4 times. On my last try, I backed myself into a little alcove which took away his charge! I got him down to about 60,000 before the bleed damage got too much for me. I was alternating between healing myself and damaging him. If I got one more heal off, I might have gotten him.
198 Balance druid. Immediately on entering the room, I went into the little alcove directly to the right of the entrance and tucked in there for most of the fight. I found keeping in there, with my back the wall a lot of the time, he wasn't able to do his charge very often, or other times, I could avoid it by line of sighting him. Just burned him down, Used my heals (resto affinity), and Convoke on cooldown. Had to CC him once in the middle of the fight because I was just about one-shotted on one charge which got through.
Tough fight, but not the worst I've found in the tower.
Just got this boss on floor 18 of layer 1 of the Twisting Corridors on my second try to get all 18 floors. I was even happy because i encountered this boss a couple of times before and I aced this boss solo (even the layer 8 in the other sections of Torghast).
But Blizzard does not want ppl to make it through all 18 floors of the twisting Corridors. So as a blood DK ilvl 187 with (at layer 18) 156.000 health, 66% soul remnents blessing, 91 anima powers (I did a full clear) I showed the definition of going splat.
I avoided every charge, I had 3 Horseman of death, summoned my ghoul, had my steward out with first the damage buff and later the health buff and I could not get this boss below 50%.
The horseman where the only reason I even made it to 50% but they died fast. Tried it 6 times (yes, did 18 floors without dying and i had bought a extra life potion at one point)
The changes where;
- triggering the rat traps did massive aoe damage ( I think). Basicly after the first time splat I ran away from my horseman after the charge, let him throw the trap and then joined the fight with the trap safely far away from the group.
- At the last fight I tried to interrupt the Rats! spell he casts because I
think he gets extra powerfull after casting it. Very difficult to interrupt and I could not see if it helps because, well, last live, and I was really trying to stay alive.
. Just checked my Combat Log and at the end I got hit with Warden Skoldus Rats! spell for 85.693 physical (3.728 absorbed), a second Warden Skoldus Rats! spell for 55.640 physical, a melee strike 43.600 physical, a second melee for 66.563 physical (66.563 absorbed) and a Warden Skoldus Rats! spell for 95.382 physical, 44.500 overkill. There were of course massive healing in between from my Death Strike, leech and my steward but still went splat.
I hope this helps the next player who encounters him at floor 18 in Torghast The Twisting Corridors, this player is a bit irritated with Blizzard for taking away my fun at playing. Just spend 3 hours playing for a second time, doing a full clear only to see that the last boss is soo boosted that I dont see anyone killing him and doing a full clear of this Torghast entrance.
dude kicked my butt on layer 2 solo with 168 vengeance DH. Literally the only time I died in Torghast, and he did it to me 6 times. I'd be flying away from him well out of striking range and still taking damage that would do 40-50% of my health. Something ain't right with this one.
But hey, at least I got all this sweet loot from the 45 minutes I was in there clearing my way to this boss.
try doing this as a pally on lvl8. lmao. guy is way too op
I recently fought this boss as Warrior: Fury, and his god damn rat-cast is almost next to impossible to interrupt. He casts it under 2 seconds. There is no way in hell I will be able to react in time for that cast while I'm fighting and trying to move away from his sh*t. I saw someone posting here that said that this boss was casting randomly, and he was right about it too. This damn boss seriously went haywire with his casts and this is why I couldn't react to his rat-casting all the time. I was able to inerrupt like 2 times at the most and only one of his casts would go through, and all of a sudden he melees me with an 80+k one-shotting hit! WTF!
I had ignore pain but with only 10% of my total HP. I am Night Fae and used Ancient Aftershock, storm bolt, fear. I had 6 lives and was able to down him to about 50% even less twice, but as everybody has been saying, he's too DAMN OP! His Melee hits should at least be nerfed, or make a real mechanic out of this boss as in raids. I really couldn't figure out his Rat-casting! Once he's able to cast rat on you, you will be slowed, by that time your a goner, at least as a DPS-melee.
I had only 90+k Hp and that is really not enough. I guess bad luck with Anima Powers. I even tried smoke bombs and didn't help at all.
If I got caught by the trap, like 4 clicks of bleed and I'm dead, and same with rats too. I had soulshape immunity for 12 seconds and it helped alot, but with 1,5 minute cooldwon :(.
Oh, I forgot to write that I was on layer 8, floor 12!
Gonna do this once again until I clear it. I'm abit irritated but that's all. It totally depends on what anima power you get to be able to clear the layers, especially when it come to the boss. Besides that, I want to clear the achievement for "collecting 250k phantasma". So in a way, it's okay, this time only that is. It is really not fun wiping on Thorgast just when you put almost 3 hours of it.
I just got him again on thesame damn floor, and this time I had High Powered Anima!
- My shout lasted 500% longer so I managed to slow him down for a long period of time with the help of "Piercing Howl". It felt I could almost take a coffee-break. It gave me time to think of ways to Nuke him slowly :D.
- I got the Anima Power "Tremor Beast Heart" which gives me 15% primary stats and heals me for about 3,3K every 5 second, 2 stacks of it.
- "Smoldering Inertia" which gave me 200% dmg done by Heroic Leap or Charge for 4 seconds.
- "Resonant Throatbands" Any kind of shout that gives me 20% increased dmg, 3 stacks.
- "Ogundimu's Fist" my favourite power! Use pummel to knock back the target and stun it for 4 seconds.
- Got the soulshape immunity.
- Victory Rush that pops up every 20 seconds.
I leaped at him and he just charged, I lost 80% of my hp already. I was like OMG! Popped Enraged regeneration and my Rallying cry and charged him, upped my HP with bloodthirst and victory rush. Used Soulshape to run away. I look at what abilities I can use. This time I charge him and use Piercing Howl, throw an Ancient Aftershock, at thesame time I use trink "Skulker's WIng". I get slowed from rats so use Bladestorm to remove the slow and get away. I put abit of distance and I notice that he's still slowed. I'm like HOLY%^&*, HELLYEAH! His hp is still at about 80%. So I take my time and figure out how to do this without getting one-shotted again.
So I thought as long as I slow him down I wont be having much difficulty. I began charging=(200% increased dmg) him, pummeled=(knocking back with 4 second stun) him, leaped=(200% increased dmg) at him used my yell Piercing Howl which gave me 60 % increased dmg and threw all my offence abilities I had. I rinced and repeated and he went down fast. I was able to heal up while I distanced myself from him.
If I didnt have any other ability that made me sprint away from him I would use bladestorm so I could run away. For him to cast "rats!" you would have to be close by I believe, but I might be wrong.
He did 462k dmg on me, that is sick actually.
This time my HP was 101k and my Ignore Pain was at 30% of total HP!
Oh.... my itemlvl is 201.
It really depends on what abilities you have. Otherwise you will just die from almost a one-shot all the time, if you get unlucky.
Feels like he's been buffed. Melee hitting for 7k, Rats! for 11k, charge for 34k. Very very hard on lvl 8, didn't manage to get him. Prot Warrior, ilvl 186.
He's one of those bosses where, with the layout of his room, there's the potential if you die and release too quickly, you'll still be in range of him when you jump back to the start of the floor. This means he'll chase you back to the start of the level and kill you before you can regroup. So wait till you see him fully reset before releasing. Just a heads up.
This guy killed one of my Twisting Corridor runs by encountering him on the 18th floor, and I got him again the run after, but managed to bring him down over a 4 minute and 19 seconds fight
This boss is
kiteable for ranged. His Rats! cast only has a 20 yards radius so you can outrange it, he won't even cast it if you're outside that range. Invest in movement speed and slow him if possible and as long as you avoid standing in his traps you can kite him forever.
Encountered as a prot paladin in twisting corridors rank 8, level 18. Ilvl 220.
I took every health increase possible as I was working my way up, encountered him with 780k health and 40% vers (did with my pvp set with pvp trinket to escape his stun just incase). I had ~130 anima powers, did ~30k hps and 40k dps.
If his rats cast gets off, it will tick for ~200k for ~5-6 seconds. The cast is extremely short, virtually impossible to kick unless you're just staring at him. It is like kicking mass dispel on a priest level difficult. My way around it was stunning him a lot, the proc stun that stuns for 5 seconds with no DR is amazing here. Essentially let it proc, follow it with a HoJ, and he will almost always cast rats after, I usually would throw Avengers shield here and get it, otherwise I still have rebuke. I think he is set to always need to cast a 'rats' before he does a change and I think charge is on a timer.
I also had the anima trait Coldheart Plume. This trait reduces damage taken by 50% while wings it up, but causing all damage prevented it to be taken when it ends. It sounds terrible since you usually get 1 shot after wings ends, but if you time its fall off with Blessing of Spellwarding, it will do no damage, as the feedback damage is all holy. If rats got off and I had wings off CD, I would use wings with the Coldheart Plume trait as a defensive and in the last 10 seconds of wings use blessing of spell warding to remove the damage from the anima. In addition, I rotated through bubble, Ardent Defender, Guardian of the Ancient Kings, Phial of Serenity (had 3x increase 25% of its healing animas), and BoP (rats is physical). After all of that, I took 6 deaths to eventually down him (I had bought 2 extra lives).
This guy really requires either godly interrupts that borderline require a kickbot or a massive health pool with smart cd rotation to survive. If you do stun him during a 'rats' cast, it is possible for him to cast it again right after the stun ends. I had him chain cast it several times after stunning him, he can also cast it after the charge at range, which is also lots of fun to try to stop as a melee with no avengers shield up.
Overall, I would rate him a 0/10. He has almost no mechanics so blizzard just pumped up his damage to boardline impossible numbers.
prot pala about 120hp,encountered him on lvl 8, floor 12.. found a tight space next to the blocked door on your left as you enter room..pulled boss and stayed there, had to heal the traps and rats when i missed the interrupts but there was no charging and no messing about.. used all stuns ect on cd and just smashed him in the face...p.s. he took 6 lives off me before i tried this and i only tried because it was my last life
I feel like the Rats! cast is way too short. Continually failed to interrupt it despite pressing it the second I saw the bar pop up. Even with Mind Numbing Poison (who knows if this even does anything against this guy), it was unreactable, and twice it killed me at the very end of the fight due to the DoT it put on me being unavoidable and unhealable as solo rogue. Didn't get hit by his other stuff, but still lost to that because the DoTs were ticking for 5k at the end.
As a fire mage with 167 gear on Layer 2. Warden Skoldus had 269k health and was a tough fight. The Fire Juggler anima power for fire blast was great as it launched him into the air, interrupting him 32 times. He died on my first attempt on a solo run using the tactics recommended in the comments.
Frost nova had little effect. Casting while moving worked. I cast fire blast, blink, scorch, Phoenix flames, blazing barriers, soulshape, and Dragon's breath to delay him, while avoiding the traps. He mowed down the mirror images fast. Good luck!
Somehow overtuned compared to other bosses. Attemted a layer5 Torgast with my ilvl 156 ww monk. The floors itself were a piece of cake even with crap gear but this boss hits so f!cking hard. No idea what to do, even tho i use all my cds, i kick every Rats, dodge every trap + charge and kite/stun him during enrage - can't kill him. Frustrating to waste 30 mins in Torgast (read: its definitely not my favourite content).
No idea how classes without self heal are doing this, except having op gear.
Recently encountered this guy on an alt melee... on my 170ilvl fire mage, he was easy to kite. On my ilvl 156 fury warrior, not so much. Admittedly low ilvl, I struggled through three attempts only getting him to about 40%. As soon as I *stopped* breaking the rats-cast, it gave me whirlwind heals killing them that allowed me to stand toe-to-toe with him during non-charge casts. I finished with 90% health and didn't use major cooldowns. Hope this helps.
So I was going to finish up Twisting Corridors, should be no problem right? Decided to do it on 201 brewmaster monk, because of broken monk powers.
Got this $%^&*!@ for the floor 18 boss on layer 8, with 15 stacks of the Coldheart health buff (45%). That's 11 939k health on this stupid boss. One tick of the Rats! debuff hits for 178k, I had 217k health in total. Every hit is close to 100% stagger. Uploading screenshot.
I don't mind content being hard, but this is absolutely ridiculous.
If you get a bunch of Coldheart Interstitia floors, pray to whatever god you like that this guy isn't waiting for you at the end.
Unless you're a Condem warrior, of course.
Layer 8 of Skoldus Halls: Just did on my VDH ilvl 218. Brought him down relatively quickly. His charge is very easy to sidestep. Same for the rat traps. Agree the rats cast is quick (1 second) but I was watching for it like a hawk thanks to you all and interrupted about 70% of such casts. I also had pretty much maxed out on all of the Anima traits (full clear) and had about 820k buffed health.
Horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible design. The fight doesn't even make sense. Good job Blizzard!
I dont know how to defeat this guy, nothing seems to work... 195 balance druid.... I cant get him below 20% maybe he has a berzerk mechanic...
.I'm dodging charge, cant avoid rat traps, die, and have no visible explanation, should have checked the logs.
I rage quit before I'm pulled out by force, and had to manually reset my changed talents outside the instance? that's crazy!
level 8 final boss skoldus halls.
I can't wait until patch 9.1 hits, I would like to see how this is "fixed".
This crapshoot of end boss futility is really frustrating...
I am so angry right now!
I went through all 18 levels of Twisting Corridors as a Retribution Paladin - besting everything easy at 197 iLvL with all buffs, enhancements, and the whole none yards (submitted a screenshot). I killed Floor 6 & Floor 12 bosses easy with no effort at all. It took me some time and I was getting tired until I realized the Warden Skoldus was the last boss and I figured, "meh" this was going to be a bit harder.
Boy was I wrong as hell! I had 7 lives after clearing all 17 floors of every NPC, quests, chests and all that mess and not dying once. This last boss was a a doozey!
My covenant was Venthyr and I ran through my normal rotation and got by unscathed until the boss got to 40% - BAM! I got two-shotted dead in an instant! I was like WTH did I miss or do wrong? So I tried the boss fight again. Same results. Got boss to 46% - then got two-shotted again. By now I was frustrated and pissed off to the highest level of pisstivity! I had just cleared 17 floors and now I was getting smoke by this last boss.
I came here to look up more info but I was doing everything right. Dodging, interrupting and waiting for Warden Skoldus' enrage to wear off. Yet, I was still getting killed quickly. I ended up dying another 5 times without so much of getting him past 27%. I would just drop dead.
On my last life, I figured I try to kill Warden Skoldus one more time but I was greeted with a warning to get to an exit quickly because The Tarragrue was coming. I quickly ran upstairs to the boss and tried run out the exit but could not. I got beat senseless by the boss and Tarragrue and that was the end.
All that work for 17 floors and failure on last boss because it was virtually impossible to avoid getting two-shotted. So unfair!
This guy dropped Jar of Ashes and Frenzied Mawrat upon completing layer 8.
Protection paladin (without legendary and ilvl 183)
Did this ass on my Outlaw Rogue. I got lots of powers and reached floor 6. When I got there i took the 1.5 min invincibility power, Sprint, Blade Rush, dps like mad and he charged me 3x and i didn't take hardly any damage. He enraged, i Shiv'd, he snuffed it.
Tried this again after going at it on my Mage and Pally Tank.
210 Vengenge Demon Hunter
Got to floor 18 and got murdered 5 times didn't even get him to half health...
SImilar experience on my other toons who are all 210 with end Floor 18 bosses simply wiping the floor with me.
Given that this is Level 1 and goes to 8. Seems pretty much impossible.
Won't be wasting 2 hours ... now it's about 8 with my other toons included.
Not worth the time investment to have such a huge difference in difficulty.
Picked all the right anima buffs too. Used Drums, potion boost, squire Buff for health... still got whipped.
Time better spent on mythic or if you are after the mount there are other ways to get it in the Maw that are possible and you get rewards for your grind
Got this guy on my 18th floor of Twisting, and he was a huge pain. Ate through a bunch of my lives.
His enrage can be soothed
If you have a charge ability, don't charge after his hulking charge - sometimes it will hit you even after he's stopped moving
Interrupt every Rats! attack, it hurts a lot - he typically casts this right after the Rat Trap attack, although sometimes he cast it after a charge for me
Move to the left or right, or just run around while he throws his traps to avoid them. This may be a good opportunity for you to heal/outrange his enrage if you can't dispel it also, just be ready to interrupt Rats!
