X Practice
is a new addon which allows players to test Castle Nathria raid mechanics without actually going inside the raid! Described as a spiritual sequel to
TrainingGrounds
, the addon uses WoW's ModelScene widgets to accurately recreate 3D environments; rather than interacting within the game world directly, it creates a separate UI frame within which the player controls a small copy of their player, similar to the various Darkmoon Faire and world quest minigames.

In the first preview, you can see Lady Inervia's

mechanic, in which three linked players are required to simultaneously bisect three orbs (four on Mythic difficulty). Although that may not sound very difficult, it's one of the common failure points in the encounter, especially since there's no way to practice the mechanic without getting randomly picked for it. Mechanics like this are not uncommon in raiding, but while bosses like High Inquisitor Xanesh in Ny'alotha allowed you to choose which players participated in the encounter's special task, the ones which choose their targets randomly make it extremely hard to prepare for them before hand - some players can go the entire length of progression without ever getting chosen, only to result in wiping the group the one time they are. Addons like this directly address that problem, by allowing players to get a feel for the mechanic without the fear of failure or wasting any other player's time.

intermission seen above is the second mechanic which X Practice currently includes from Castle Nathria, but more could certainly be added with enough encouragement from the community! Youtuber Bellular also recently made a video showcasing this addon along with several others, which you can see below.
