Item Level 230 BoE Crafted Gear Now Available with New Crafter's Mark
As players begin to hit Tier 4 reputation with
, they're gaining the ability to create
, which means that Bind on Equip profession items can now be created at item level 230.
How Do These Work?
These profession items exist for several different slots including most armor slots, and Necklaces and Rings! Their random secondary stats can be determined when crafted using Missives like
. Notably, Rings and Necklaces in this armor type come with sockets, but other Socket-eligible armor pieces do not.
It's important to note that all of these items
share a Unique-Equipped tag
, so you can only wear one Shadowlands Crafted Item in any given gear set.
These items are Bind on Equip and can be bought and sold on the Auction House. They may not yet exist on your server as they'll require an enterprising crafter to have been grinding rep, and their prices may fluctuate over the next few days but the easiest way to check is to just open up your Auction House and click on your armor type, or filter to Rings or Necklaces, and sort by descending Item Level.
How Are They Made?
These are crafted with recipes that existed during Patch 9.0, but the new Optional Reagent
can be used to bring them up to 230 item level. The recipe is purchased for 2500
once Tier 4 Research is unlocked. Making one is moderately expensive, requiring 15
and several other items depending on which profession you use.

How Should They Be Used?
At item level 230, these items are likely to be upgrades for most characters right now, but it's important to remember that items of much higher level will soon be available from all of the new Shadowlands Season 2 gear sources. However, it's likely that they will fit well into short term gear plans and may even last into the medium term.
The most likely slot for these items to retain long term value is the Ring slot - this slot comes pre-socketed and can be carefully chosen to have optimal stat budgeting for your spec. The Necklace slot is also tempting as it also comes pre-socketed, but remember there will be a strong item level 226 Necklace available from Tazavesh next week (yes it's
, but it remains competitive until Heroic or Mythic raid necklaces).
You can also use these to fill out whatever slot you happen to have a weak item in - if for whatever reason you just can't seem to find a pair of bracers, then a crafted 230 can fill in in a pinch until you have better luck. Remember, of course, to weigh the value of the item against the value of the gold you'd spend on it!
