Blizzard has just announced another
massive set of nerfs
to Mythic Sepulcher of the First Ones joining a series of other such nerfs to this brutally difficult raid. In this week's GG WoW video Dratnos and Tettles break down the impact of the nerfs and what they mean for guilds working on each of the nerfed bosses, and then move to discussion of the general nature of this raid tier and whether/how the nerfs are a good or bad thing.
The general premise of slowly nerfing the raid over time is one endorsed by both Dratnos and Tettles as a good mechanism to help keep progression happening, but both do find it indicative that something went a little wrong when this many nerfs of this size need to happen, especially with so many that effectively remove mechanics rather than adjust tuning.
Dratnos proposed on twitter the idea that our relative power not increasing relative to the power that RWF guilds had access to was a big factor, as in previous tiers we've gained effects like the bottom row of Renown traits, Shards and their set bonuses, or massive Ny'alotha cloak upgrades. Some convincing counterarguments were made by Wordup, Twisted, and Jet, suggesting that this tier also featured unique mechanical difficulty beyond the type that would be nerfed by throughput gained over time.
