Dragonflight Item Level Raid Scaling & Recent Class Changes - Dratnos and Tettles Discuss
This week's GG WoW video takes a look at some Dragonflight Beta developments!
The first has to do with Dragonflight's first raid, Vault of the Incarnates, which will have
four different item level rewards within each difficulty tier
(as compared to Shadowlands which has two reward levels, the first bosses and the last 2 or 3 which have better rewards). This means that the difference between the first and last boss in Vault of the Incarnates is 10 item levels, as compared to 7 in Shadowlands, and if the Mythic Plus item level remains unchanged from Shadowlands then Mythic raid gear from half of the raid bosses will be better than even the best Mythic Plus gear from the great vault.
It's worth noting that much of the potential friction that would come from having so many small item level bumps would have been related to trading restrictions, which will no longer be a factor for guilds using Dragonflight's Group Loot system.
The video then moves on to discuss
some other changes
in the recent Beta builds, such as the consolidation of Atrophic Poison to all Rogue specs rather than just Assassination, and similar developments with Skull Banner for Warriors. The controversial "raid buff" discussion continues among the community, with most agreeing that such buffs being class-wide rather than spec-specific is an improvement, even if they disagree about whether these buffs should exist at all.
The addition of a 4 target mass grip to Warrior's Heroic Leap and the removal of Binding Shot's unique unbreaking behavior were also discussed, though again it's worth noting that Binding Shot has since been changed to become a 3 second stun (from 8 second root).
NOTE: Since the time this video was recorded, Binding Shot was changed again and is
now a 3 second stun
