Darkmoon Faire Fishing Changes, 10% Experience Buff Stacks with Anniversary Buff
Darkmoon Faire is available this week from Sunday, December 5th through Saturday, December 11th. This is a great opportunity to do profession quests to increase skill levels, earn tickets for prizes, and get the 10% experience and reputation buff for 1 hour through the carousel, roller coaster, or purchase the
. This experience buff stacks with the 17% experience buff for WoW's 17th Anniversary, so it's a great time to work on leveling alts or pushing reputation gains!
Darkmoon Faire Guide
profession quest is far easier now, based on a change to the way fishing now operates on Darkmoon Island. While you only need level 1 in a profession to do that profession's quest, the Fishing quest
used to be very difficult if your vanilla
skill was under 200. While you could level up your Vanilla Fishing skill by fishing off Darkmoon Island, a low Vanilla Fishing skill also meant you caught a lot of junk and not many of the
needed to complete the profession quest. Many players who didn't want to invest the time into leveling Vanilla Fishing just skipped this quest.
However, fishing off Darkmoon Island has changed.
The bad news: you no longer earn Fishing skill from fishing off Darkmoon Island, even if your Fishing skill is only 1.
The good news: you don't
more than Fishing skill 1, since you no longer catch junk and can catch
frequently. You also have a chance to catch the less common items, such as the
, wearable fish heads such as the

pet. This also makes farming
for mounts, pets, and recipes even easier!
, this means that you can catch all five of your
for your quest on just five line casts, no matter your skill level. This puts the Fishing quest in a "must do" category for Darkmoon Faire, since you only need to invest a single point in Fishing and the quest earns both experience and tickets.
