Black Temple Timewalking Preview
Patch 7.2.5 is introducing a new mode of Timewalking - Raids! The first Timewalking Raid available will be the fan favourite Black Temple, open during Outland Timewalking. There will likely be
Timewalking World Bosses
available temporarily in the future as well.
In this article, we're looking at all of the bosses as well as interesting loot they drop you may want to collect from Black Temple!

Black Temple is also home to the famous legendaries
awards the achievement
. This is earnable by Warriors, Rogues, Demon Hunters, Death Knights, and Monks. Subsequently running Black Temple in Timewalking Mode while having this achievement will award
, allowing Demon Hunters on your account to transmog their weapons to the original Warglaives.
Pets in Black Temple
The pets that drop in the regular Black Temple also drop in the Timewalking version of this raid. These are part of the

Black Temple is a source for many

There are also new drops added for
to be the equivalent of Tier 6, as these classes were not present in Burning Crusade.
All of the loot from Timewalking difficulty is
when looted by a level 110 player. This is subject to change as information is frequently updated on the 7.2.5 PTR.
: This will periodically protect Naj'entus and can only be broken with an
: Naj'entus will throw his spines at players, pinning them to the ground. Clicking on this spine to free the player will put a Spine in your bag. Wait until the boss is protected by
, target him, and click the spine in your bag to remove the protection.
Naj'entus drops some cool transmog including the Hunter favourite
and the alternate colour of the T6 Druid and Rogue shoulders,
Supremus tracks fire where he walks, which must be avoided.
: Summons volcanoes around the area which players must avoid.
: Supremus will charge random players, dealing damage and knocking them back.
Supremus also fixates his gaze on players who must walk slowly around to kite the boss.
This boss drops great weapon models including
and the distinctive shoulders
Shade of Akama is a two stage fight, the first involves killing trash mobs, the second is killing the Shade of Akama himself.
The first phase is an add management phase where the summoners keeping the Shade of Akama captive must be killed in order to release him.
After Akama is released, damage his shade to finish the fight.
Shade of Akama drops the alternate colours for the T6 Priest and Hunter shoulders,
The encounter features an extremely unique mechanic where players die and then become ghosts.
As a ghost, you have a new set of abilities and have to kill a construct that is focused on you.
Gorefriend drops the cool cloak model
Similar to his fight in Hellfire Citadel, Gurtogg Bloodboil will launch
at groups in the raid, requiring people to be aware of how many stacks they have lest they take too many.
means non-tanks should not be in fromt of the boss.
is applied to tanks, requiring tanks swaps.
, a unique model for transmog, also known as "Priest on a Stick".
Reliquary of Souls
This is a boss with 3 main mobs:
. These bosses have slightly different abilities and there are also intermission phases between them.
Essence of Suffering fixates on the closest person and dampens all healing and defense with
. Also casts
which must be interrupted.
Esssence of Desire casts
which must be interrupted,
which must be dispelled or spellstolen, and
which causes a serious damage reflect to all members of the raid.
Essence of Anger casts a severe dot on the raid (
, which requires everyone to be behind the boss, and
Intermission phases consists of swarms of ghosts which, when killed, restore health and mana to the raid.
Drops the very cool, animated
This was formerly an encounter famous for requiring extremely high shadow resistance.
Mother Sharaz bounces various types of beams off raid members, requiring groups to spread out through the area:
The boss also silences nearby raid members:

The Illidari Council
The Illidari Council are player-class-archetypes: A paladin (
), a mage (
), a priest (
), and a rogue (in warlock clothing!) (
). They are all casting their abilities simultaneously making this fight a little hectic.

. Formerly, this boss was mage-tanked so they could spell steal his Dampen Magic buff to avoid certain death from
on her allies, the latter of which must be interrupted.
are cast on players which must be interrupted as often as possible but not at the expense of her healing spell.

which means he is difficult to keep track of and resetting agro. He is stunnable.
All interrupts on this fight must be aware of what aura the Paladin has up. If
is up, the interrupts must be physical, if Blessing of Protection is up, it must be a spell-based interrupt.
The Illidari Council drops the T6 Leg Token.
Illidan Stormrage is a 5 phase fight.
Phase 1, 3, and 5: Normal Form - Casts
Phase 2: Flying Phase - Casts
, Eye Beam which leaves fire on the ground,
. This is an add phase.
Phase 4: Demon Form - Casts
Flames of Azzinoth appear during the Flying Phase - These are two adds which must be defeated to enter the next phase.
Illidan drops the T6 chest token, the famous models of
